Hummingbird moth I keep seeing on my butterfly bush and hummingbird mint flowers

I’m in New England and kinda curious what exact variety this would be, they are so cool. Is there some story or evolutionary reason they look the way they do?

My rock garden I did this year! The previous homeowner had the foundations of it set up since the 1970s, but it’s been overgrown with grass and all kinds of stuff for years. It was just a pile of rocks with grass on it. I spent the earlier summer months redoing the whole thing.

I spent way too much on perennials this year, , I had to buy every single plant in the photos with the exception of some Moses and replanted sedum branches. but I’m really pleased with the end result, things should look even better next year once they’ve been established and have survive survived through a winter. My sedum died in another spot last year, even though it was supposed to be perennial.

I finally did a tiny bit of research and actually learned how important well drained soil is for certain plants. I have like eight types of sedum that I brought in the rock garden this year and I filled the whole thing with very well drained soil, and I’m crossing my fingers that all of them will survive this winter..

I also found a good supplier for toad lilies so I’m very excited to see how those do once they grow, I also found some really cool white moss on some rock rocks and it was super dehydrated when I found it, but I’ve been watering it every day and it’s like the softest stuff ever, it might even be lichen

Either way, I’m very pleased with this rock garden, and I’d like to share some photos! I had just torn all three ac ligaments in my right shoulder before I started the project and I was doing most of the work with one hand, but I was just so excited for it that I couldn’t wait and I hurt myself a little bit and made my recovery take longer because of this garden lol, at least I could relax with a nicer vibe around after the garden was done.

There were so many rocks buried under the dirt already inside of that spot that I pulled out and left out of the ground

There’s also a swamp on the edge of my yard that had a bunch of mossy rocks buried in the mud that I pulled out and wheelbarrow over to make the rock garden bigger. It’s been a complete overhaul!!

I got a big metal pry rod at the hardware store, I was moving five or 600 pound rocks with one arm using that as a fulcrum! I used to know an old guy who did Stone Work, and he used to use fulcrums to move huge pieces of granite all the time and his trick came really in handy for me with removing massive rocks from the Earth with relative ease! Everybody should have one of those! One good long bar can let a man move mountains!!

I just transplanted this chamomile that I’ve had somewhere else in my yard for two years, it survives fine through the winter and comes back every year. I put it in my rock garden and I’m not sure if It could use a trim or not.

It’s very long and leggy, and I don’t know if I should let it trail across the rocks or if I should cut it back to make it more compact, I’m not sure what it would like better. It has not had more than 24 hours to acclimate to its new spot so it might need more time to look different.

The bestest and bravest little soldier passed away today. I do not know his name but the gods will not forget it. I will be forever guilty and unworthy of living on after somebody like him had to die in a place like this because he was trying to confiscate my stolen goods

this cheydinhal guard was a hunter. he never lost track of me even once. he's the one who caught me stealing in cheydinhal and followed me almost all the way to county Bruma!! I ran over a whole mountain to evade him and into an ayleid ruin called "Sedor" I was hoping the ogres I found would be enough to stop him, but they weren't...he cut through the ogres like butter in his single minded pursuit of a law breaking citizen. he was so dedicated I could cry, all alone he did this.

it was kill or be killed and in the last moments right after I received a mortal arrow wound in my chest, I summoned a skeleton to deliver the death blows to my admirable pursuer. i found myself deeply regretting not having some spell or potion that could fix this situation.. to spare this champion of a man but also avoid him chasing me across the whole world.

this was sad and itll stick with me.

What is going on with these damage sliders? The combat feels so weird and I can’t get it balanced.

(Edit: Playing the remaster)

I have enemy combat damage set to master, so they are hitting me as hard as possible and combat feels lethal! I actually have to block and Dodge!

The problem is, I am one or two shotting like every single enemy I fight with a sword. I’m only like level three right now, but I have the same exact issue with a level 20 character that I just retired so I could restart and try to rebalance a difficulty with a different build.

I have player combat damage, set to apprentice. Which means I’m doing more damage than I would if I said it to a higher difficulty there. Turning that up, seems like it would fix my problem.

My issue here is there seems to be no in between from apprentice to the next difficulty which is adept.

I go from one or two shotting every single opponent, to striking them 20+ times until they die.

I cannot even imagine how tanky every single little rat would be on higher player combat damage difficulty levels.

In a nutshell, I am enjoying how lethal enemies are to my character, every hit feels like I could die. Successfully blocking an attack feels like a win itself.

But the fights last literally two seconds as enemies fall from one or two strokes, some before they even draw their weapon.

Why is the difference SO HUGE between the apprentice and adept player damage settings?

A mage summoning a zombie on apprentice difficulty is a momentary distraction, cured by two mindless left clicks.

A mage summoning a zombie on adept difficulty is like fighting a mini boss while dodging insta-killing fireballs and drinking every single potion you have within a minute of fighting.

There’s no in between??

Fulgrim is such a queen lmao

Currently reading Horus heresy book five “fulgrim”

Fulgrim was trying to make some marble statues and came to one of his master craftsman/sculptors to ask for his honest opinion on Fulgrims skill.

The primarch insisted that this man could be 100% honest and candid with him. The man basically told fulgrim that his sculptures were too perfect and lacked a flair of human imperfection. He said they were created more from the head than the heart, and they would always be lacking if they truly strive to achieve perfection instead of accepting something less than.

Fulgrim actually couldn’t handle the truth like he said he could and got super snippy and bitchy all of a sudden, and it was really funny to see him being so human and flustered.

“It is of no matter, I can see I was right to have spoken to you. I will never lift a chisel to marble again”

Such a little pouter lol

Playing Bhashiva turn 120 and just about to convince the bloody hands greenskins to go to war with the iron claw greenskins (both super powers) also convinced clan rictus to war with the chorfs and slow down the warhost of zharr’s westward expansion.

All of Cathay except for bhashiva has fallen to the warhost of zharr, the golden order has fallen to the tormentors, the entire eastern continent is controlled by clan rictus and the zharr warhost with a small corner belonging to the tormentors.

Clan rictus, warhost of zharr, the bloody handz and iron claw orcs are all global superpowers, reikland and wissenland are holding strong with massive territories of their own but the iron claws are bleeding into their lands so fast every turn, I just discovered the bloody hands and noticed they are a superpower that rivals the iron claws and they are directly south of the iron claws but not really doing much. I’m giving them one big settlement that I stole from the iron claws and it will convince them to go to war with iron claw which will divide their forces and allow the empire to gain the advantage on their front.

I already did the same thing with clan rictus against chorfs and they have actually helped hold back the chorfs really well to give me time to deal with the greenskins before I get pinched between the two. I was at war with rictus before but I was cornered and needed to get creative, it was an all-time low to rely upon skaven to protect my backline.

It’s exhilarating!! I have no idea where this will lead but my end game plan is to make the empire safe and slowly wipe away both orc factions after we let them kill each other for a while. Once all is secure with the greenskins, I can sweep back east and reclaim all the lands around Cathay that I lost to the warhost of zharr chorfs.

My current bhashiva campaign is a roller coaster ride

I’m on turn 100 and so much has happened, most of Cathay is taken over by chorfs and dechala.

The empire and reikland and friends are still alive but fighting vampires and greenskins.

The wood elves are still alive and have an uneasy truce with the remaining dwarf factions to fight the greenskins together

I have cut out a huge swath for myself right around Bhashivas starting location and spread myself sort of thinly.

I sent one army through a sea channel to get onto the eastern coast of the continent and started taking over dechalas land to donate it to the golden order and Cathay so they wouldn’t totally die to the chorfs in their area.

My other three armies are spread out. 2 of them are fighting chorfs in the far north, wiping out their undefendex towns while most their armies are far south conquering cathays land.

My last army is bhashiva herself and she has been playing whack-a-mole with clan rictus for like 20 turns, they keep ambushing and going invisible and destroying my towns and I have to choose between reclaiming towns or leaving the ruins alone to be chasing the rats down instead. they have like 3 invisible armies going in the heart of my territory and destroying towns and ducking my pursuits, I need to get another army there to box the rats in, they own about 12 settlements directly to the west of my territory that I’ve been trying to wipe out and destroy for a while, but every time I start to dip my toes in their territory, they somehow sneak a rat army behind me into my own territory and start jumping around like crazy wrecking undefended towns and running away and hiding.

My other armies are doing vital work, keeping my cathayan cousins from falling completely while bhashiva cleans up the home front.

I have a short victory but I had bigger ambitions, I wanted to wipe out the skaven and the chorfs and create a territory line all the way to the empire so I can start a great final war with all the good guys working together to destroy chaos and the other baddies

Beastmen appreciation post!

I’ve never played a horde faction before beastmen, no economy? Count me in!! I started with morghur the shadowgrave as my LL and slowly confederated (super easily with a built in faction mechanic) the other beastmen LL. I have four armies, each one led by a legendary beast lord.

Malagor the dark omen is an amazing spell caster but holy shit!! Taurox the brass bull is a true monster on the battlefield. We just got attacked by three vampire armies against our one army led by taurox, taurox simply waded through the undead hordes ahead of his own forces and executed their lords while their whole army fails to protect them from the brass bull.

Killing the Lord of a vampire army is really satisfying when you watch the rest of their forces evaporate.

I think I’ve taken an unconventional approach to beastmen, I’ve decided to indirectly aid the human factions, as well as protecting the borders of the wood elves, even though they all hate me.

I’ve been at war with Norsca for a while and I’m also at war with all the skaven clans, clan eshin and moulder have like 50+ settlements and they’re all hidden in ruins, the entire empire is ruins.

Bretonnia is actually the last human faction left believe it or not, repanse de lyonesse is the only one remaining, they hate me but I preserve their nation by killing their enemies for fun.

The latest development has been a vampire counts endgame crisis, which really is not a big deal because there were only three vampire account factions remaining when that crisis started and the skaven annihilated one of them for me, the other two are tough rn and taurox has been running through 2-3 full armies of theirs at a time by himself pretty much.

I think after I defeat the vampires, I might retire this campaign i’ve already achieved pretty much all of the other victories except for world domination, I will miss the beast men, whatever faction I play next will probably not feel half as powerful as a full army of Minotaurs led by taurox

How am I looking? True victory is ages away, I’m almost 100 hours into this game and I’ve spent all that time on one campaign.

I’m on like turn 180 or smth, There are about 45 faction left out of the like 200 at the beginning. The major powers based of territory are:

World walkers: middle north of map, 25 settlements(at war with everybody to the south of them, including me)

The lizard men: the entire southwest continent and parts of land west of the big donut island. Last defenders control a massive chunk to the east, south of kings glade.

Wissenland & nuln: middle of the map 40+ settlements. (My military allies)

Hag graef and their dark elf friends control the entire north of the map above the world walkers. They are helping the world walkers in the wars.

Yvresse, high elf sea patrol, eatane, avelorn are all in control of the big donut island, high elf sea patrol is the only one that has really spread beyond that area for the entire campaign.

Estalia and couronne have been minor military allies and maintain small territories on the border of my own near kings glade. I have gifted them a few to help out over time.

The dwarves all triggered a strange event that caused them to declare war on everybody and come out of the woodworks in great numbers. That has been a major distraction to the south while world walkers and hag graef attack from the north and northwest. Just recently the different warriors of chaos have begun attacking wissenland from the north east and I’ve gotten involved.

My sisters of twilight took like 15 settlements from world walkers in the chaos wastes while their forces were abroad but we’ve slowly lost all of them as world walkers pumped out like 5 armies out of nowhere from the north.

Now my armies are stretched thinly, relying on lightning strikes and ambush tactics. our lesser forces in the south combine their arms with the armies of high elf sea patrol, estalia and wissenland to hold back the tide of a rotating stock of 6+ dwarven armies from one of the last remaining dwarf factions (clan angrund) from their long war with everybody.

Most of my forces are in the north in the chaos territory slowing retreating closer to home to consolidate. I was going for full world domination but I realized as the wood elves, I was never expected to be the last faction standing and I don’t need to wage war to purge the world entirely of all enemies. totally forgot about the actual victory objective for the Wood elves, which is the world trees. I need to do the ritual of rebirth, I’ve only done one and I literally only own like two trees. Half the rest are very far away or owned by allies.

I may never reach true victory condition for the heralds of Ariel on this campaign. Even after we hypothetically vanquish our enemies after ages of fighting, I’ll then need to war with my allies to gain control of the magic trees in their possession.

Can we just talk about totalwarhammer, I’m on my second campaign and I’m playing the sisters of twilight (wood elves) what are you currently doing?

I’m at war with all of the dwarves and with the world walkers and with the orcs and with the lizardmen, including other misc factions.

I have alliances with wessex & nuln, exiles of nahek, high elf sea patrol, couronne and estonia.

I gave away a couple of my special tree settlements as a bargaining chip to get wessex and nuln to enter my war against all the dwarves( that the dwarves started)

Now, besides worrying about the growing threat of the world walkers, lizardmen and trying to wrap up my war w the dwarves, I have to play the long game on figuring out how I’m ever going to get my magic tree settlements back from my powerful allies of wessex & nuln After the rest of our enemies have fallen

I am playing the sisters of twilight and a lot of really crazy stuff is happening now at turn 128. I have done very well diplomatically although we’re currently at war with a lot of other people. I’m trying to pull off a longshot and I’m wondering how I can do it

I am playing wood elves who made a military alliance with the tomb kings early on and for quite a while they were conquering lots of land and spread their influence farther while I was able to focus on more important matters. After a little while, they ended up going to war with a bunch of the high elf factions and I went to war with them.

After doing my first ritual of rebirth and then shortly after I made my first world root traversal to start working on a section of the map very far from my beginning area. I began to improve relations with the other Wood elf factions near the area I teleported to and confederated two of them while leaving one of them to be autonomous.

Meanwhile, the tomb kings were hard at war with a slaanesh faction as well as three to four elf factions back near my homeland with almost no physical support from me but they didn’t need it.

Things were going good for me in the New area and I finally increased my income enough to have multiple armies. I’m surrounded by Wessex and brettonia and the empire and although they did not like my alliance with the tomb kings, I have done many other things to make up for that to gain their favor, I knew we would have to be on good terms because they control like half of this new continent I arrived on.

But now there’s a whole big thing happening and it’s kind of a crisis and I need all the help I can get.

To layout the current situation:

Tomb kings are still fighting all of the elves and the slaanesh faction at home but now there is this faction from Norsca in the new area that is absolutely raiding the Northern side of the empire and making their way into wood elf territory.

Suddenly the tomb kings AI have assessed this faction from norsca to be the biggest threat to them like 1000 miles away so they’re sending all their armies away from the war with the elves and slaanesh to come to the new area im in and fight the norsca faction.

I only have one army back in the homeland and the tomb kings have pulled like 80% of their forces out of there and now the elves are just free to start moving into the tomb king territory back home and taking that over. My original world tree is surrounded by tomb king territory so pretty well protected, but to be safe, I just signed non-aggression pacts with all of the high elves near there which the tomb kings didn’t get too upset about.

This is unfortunately all happening at the same exact time that all of the lizardmen factions down south have conquered their entire home continent and begun making their way onto the southern tip of me and the tomb Kings beginner territory. They have almost entirely wiped out the jade kingdom (who have been begging for military assistance)
The lizard man literally have six armies on the tip of my continent, and then several more surrounding the jade people.

The tomb Kings would be a decent match for them if they weren’t also at war with all the nearby factions at home while ALSO spreading themselves super thinly by going to attack a single faction halfway across the world with most of their forces.

In desperation, I offered one of my minor settlements back home to the lizard men in return for a temporary non-aggression pact.

On top of all that happening, in the New area I’ve occupied near the second world tree, I’ve been trying to fight back a certain dwarf faction that’s been harassing me and now a big world event has occurred that’s called like “ the rage of the dwarfs” or something like that. There’s like 16 dwarf factions that have suddenly arrived on the map and they are all attacking everybody, including me. I got really lucky and I was able to convince wessex to become my military Ally so they are at war with the dwarfs as well.

I am confident we can overcome this dwarf threat especially with the Help of Wessex, but that norsca faction raiding and expanding is right around the corner and its wrecking people in this new area and I know the lizard men are right on the cusp of conquering my entire homeland 1000 miles away as well as severely crippling the economy/strength of the tomb kings, by capturing all of their unoccupied cities there.

TLDR: is there anyway to get the tomb Kings and Wessex to work together with me to fight back all of these massive threats? I have a military alliance with both of them. Does the mutual alliance affect their diplomacy with one another at all, it would be cool if we could all be friends.

Furthermore, is there a way for me to get tomb Kings to stop their war with the high elves back home so we could recruit them in our cause against the lizard men in the very near future? The high elves already like me enough to Ally with me, but if I’m already allied with the tomb kings who are at war with them will they cease their war and work together because of me?

Has anybody else (as the sisters of twilight) made a military alliance with the Egyptian pharaoh/mummy factions?

The sisters of twilight start out in an area that is directly east of a pretty large tomb king territory. They didn’t bother me at first, but after a couple dozen turns, I started to worry about what would happen if they decided to declare war on me because they literally had like 10 settlements already at the very beginning of the game and I started with one.

I ended up painstakingly convincing them to make a non-aggression impact with me, and then I eventually opened up a trade deal with them, and then I attacked one of their enemies, which allowed us to become closer friends until it reached the point we could become military allies, and now they are literally conquering like the entire continent I’m on and I’m using them as a major crutch to help me against the cult of seduction or whatever that slaanesh faction is called.

Whenever one of my very few settlements is threatened by overwhelming numbers I simply give away the settlement to my tomb, king allies, and then they immediately occupy it with an army within the next turn, and then I’m able to absolutely demolish whatever attacking armies were there with the Help of the tomb kings. I don’t mind giving away the minor settlements because the wood elves don’t really get anything valuable from owning minor settlements anyways.

Im on turn 76 and there are only 96 factions left remaining, it started at over 200 iirc.

I’m hoping I’m not screwing myself over and making the tomb kings so powerful that I’ll never be able to stand against them if they decide to attack me but we have almost 100 relations right now so I don’t think that’s ever gonna happen and our relations are constantly improving because we stay at war with the same people all the time.

They have probably 15 or 20 settlements right now and they have four or five full standing armies while I’m only able to afford one full stack standing army at any given time with my limited income.

They are a major help and for some reason I just find all the Egyptian factions very charming and cartoonish
