Giving PR this month renders me ineligible for the Red Cross/Hello Kitty promotion for my dying niece.

I gave Power Red last week because of the crisis. ARC deems that the "most" you can give at one sitting, so I gave the most I could. Even though an administrator sent insufficient equipment and staff (the drive's numbers were consistent with previous drives and I was told they weren't experiencing a shortage), ignored my appointment time, let a walk-in take the only Power Red machine that resulted in a 3-hour donation period, I don't regret it. (And I'm sure not blaming the donors -- bless everyone who donated that day whatever ARC's issues).

Yesterday, it was announced that they're doing a Hello Kitty promotion next month. I have an 11-year-old niece (technically a second cousin who is much, much younger me, so informally a "niece") whose birthday is next month and who may not live to see her 13th. She is absolutely obsessed with Hello Kitty.

So I called to see if I could give ANYTHING to be eligible. Nope. I also see on other subs where folks are delaying their August donations to be eligible for September. Not the way I do things, but I get it. That's the Red Cross Game. They created it. So you're playing it. I can also appreciate how folks would avoid giving "too much" to keep themselves eligible for next promotion/stage of the Game.

I don't care about the merch. I don't care about the points. If I get a shirt, I give it away. If I get a gift card, I gift it to a nearby food bank. I resent very much having to care about it now, having to regret my timing in donating during a crisis and having to disappoint someone very special to me because I gave "more" at the wrong time.

New FIV Cat Parent Advice

Hi friends. Earlier today, I adopted a shelter cat. I had them test for FIV/FELV (they don't do it automatically - the cats live by themselves in the shelter environment), but I told them it wouldn't impact my adoption decision, because the cat needed a home either way. The cat tested negative for FELV (thank goodness) but FIV+. He's around 3 years old and will be strictly indoor.

I already have Lysine drops (recommended ones), but I'm aware the science behind them is mixed. He's the only cat in the house, but I have a decade of cat experience and a good relationship with my beloved, departed felines' (who came here with abandonment issues and passed several years later after an extended battle with cancer) vet who told me to go ahead with the Lysine drops.

The kitty was very sweet and outgoing in the shelter, but (unsurprisingly) hid once we got home to his safe room. I'm planning to get him in to his vet for a full workup once he settles in.

I feel fairly confident about moving forward with the little guy, but I am a new cat parent of an FIV+ cat. So I wanted to ask if there was any advice you all might care to provide. Thank you so very much!

Help With Finding Kevin's Commentary for "The Dark Knight"

I've been listening to and enjoying Kevin's commentary over different Batman movies. He (rightly) raves over Dark Knight in each of them, but I can't find the actual Dark Knight commentary -- only Dark Knight RISES. Sure would appreciate some help. Thanks!

Monorail Air Pollution

I've been struggling to contain air pollution emanating from my monorails (most likely as calculated by traffic density on the monorails). Clean Air Act is of limited efficacy. I've read (and seen on many, dozens of videos spanning a decade) that NAM's "Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool" allowed you to control mass transit pollution (or the efficacy of the Clean Air Act) directly, but NAM's team inexplicably removed this tool some updates ago (Source). I have also seen reference to numerous Air Purification Mods that all link back to Simtopia, which (as you likely know) is down due to ISP conflict and they are attempting to rebuild the site.

Building copious amounts of trees has not satisfactorily addressed the pollution, no matter how dense (I have attempted Mayor and God tools to no avail).

Any suggestions for eradicating air pollution caused by monorails? I've been trying for weeks, so I'm game for anything, up to and including editing files.

Thanks!
