Morning, I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me how to make precise cuts and mitres like in this ring. I have made opal inlay rings before but have wanted to attempt something like this or something with more mitre cuts in it. Im really interested to know how its done. Google has said to use diamond files to get a precise join but id like to hear your thought before I attempt it.
Hi,i know this is probably a strange question but i was wondering if anyone had heard of boulder opal being glued to another ironstone backing. Not a piece of boulder crystal, just a piece of opal bearing ironstone. The reason im asking is because i have slices of boulder opal that once i grind down past the waterline they will be so thin they will need a backing . Just asking for some clarity.
I was wondering if anyone had used sticky wax to stick a copper template to sterling silver plate so I can scribe around it without moving. I have seen a silversmith on YouTube heat up her silver,melt something im assuming is wax onto the silver and then apply her template to scribe around. Any help would be appreciated.
