I attended an 18th Century Salon hosted by Costumers of Color last night in Seattle. It was wonderful. They had some classes and workshops in the morning, and dancing and games in the evening. What a feast for the eyes and what a great diversity of people! Some pics that I grabbed:

Edit: I’m a small-county prosecutor and am in court every day. These are super appropriate for my courtroom.

Having seen Muse in both arena and amphitheater venues, I think I prefer the amphitheater better. I know that some folks love the huge sets and shows that the boys put on in the arenas, but the amphitheaters are so much smaller and more intimate. This was the closest I’ve ever been to the band and it was amazing. The crowds at both Cascades and White River felt more connected, like a big family, rather than a bunch of strangers. Plus, the costs were reasonable. Tickets on the lawn were only $35, but you could go up much higher if you wanted. It was so nice to see the stratospheric ticket price bubble burst. Great job, Muse, for running a great tour.

We ripped out the pet-urine stained carpet, the OSB subfloor, and found the old flooring in nearly perfect condition. The original finish is still there on much of the floor. I am so so happy.
This is 11/1 wool, commonly used in the Middle Ages, done in an 8-shaft shadow weave. The warp colors are gray and charcoal. First sample has weft in gray and charcoal, second sample has weft of gray and cream. I hand washed in very hot water with lots of soap, agitated as much as my hand muscles would allow, then air dried and steam ironed.
The resulting fabric is far too sleazy for dress goods. It’s more of a lightweight scarf at this point. I’m going to try to full it a lot more by machine washing and drying.
Hopefully the pattern will come out more pronounced then as well. If not, I’ll probably double up my warp and weft yarns, and try that. I have some light blue yarn that I could try for weft as well.

I picked up a used drawloom and with it came this huge pile of both short- and long-eye heddles. Once I get them sorted, what’s the best way to store them so this doesn’t happen again?

(A suggestion for the future beginner wiki). I’ve looked through the wiki and the FAQ and I don’t see my question so here goes.
This is not about planning or designing. This is about prep work. What’s the best way to get rid of the grass? Should I plow it up? What’s the best tool for that, aside from an actual plow because I don’t have horses or an ox. Should I nuke it with roundup for this summer and then plow? Should I use nuke it then plow it then use heavy duty landscaping cloth? My city gets about 50” rain/year. Western WA zone 8A.
