Newest Track Toy

I over the weekend I picked up my newest track toy. I’ve loved tracking my Elantra N but it was time to step into something more purpose built. She needs a bit of prep work before I’m ready to hit the track but I’m definitely excited. Though I need to relearn how to heel toe downshift. No more DCT crutch for me.

Tragic update: Sacrificing cheap speed for irresponsible mid-engine choices

Hey everyone,

The time has come. After a couple of years of autocross, track days, and letting the EN punch way above its weight class, I’m officially moving on. Next week I’m picking up a 2012 Lotus Evora S.

I know, I know. I’m trading a reliable, four-door track weapon for a British fiberglass wedge held together by adhesive and hope.

Driving an open-wheel formula car at a racing school earlier this year completely changed what I wanted, and the craving for a dedicated mid-engine layout finally won. In the search for something that could give me a taste of the experience but could still handle driving to and from track days, the Evora S was the most logical (and ill-advised) next step.

If anyone in the Austin, TX area sees a red Lotus out at Autocross or Harris Hill, come say hi!

The 'while I'm at it' bug bit hard.

Upgraded from Xbox to PC a while back, which eventually led to wanting a higher-torque wheelbase... which meant I needed a sturdier rig.

Then came the 'while I'm at it' phase: triples, a fixed-back bucket seat, and a dedicated telemetry dash.

Safe to say this hobby is a dangerous rabbit hole. No regrets.

Wardrobe reset at 40. How do I moving past jeans and tees into more intentional style.

Hey everyone,

I just turned 40, focusing on my health/weight loss, and realizing my current wardrobe no longer fits or works for me. I’ve been pretty apathetic about my style for years, so staring at a blank slate and trying to rebuild is feeling incredibly overwhelming. I don't even know where to start.

Right now, my baseline is just t-shirts and jeans (as you can see in the photos). Sometimes I throw on a chore shirt or simple button up. As I've started to think about this more I feel like I lean towards a more utilitarian style but honestly, I have no idea where to start.

Since the options out there are paralyzing, I’m looking for advice on how to pace myself:

  • How do I start to expand my options? Instead of trying to buy a whole new wardrobe, what would be a good approach to transition away from just plain tees and jeans?
  • How do you find inspiration without getting lost in the weeds? Every time I try and research style I get totally overwhelmed and frustrated.
  • What's the one piece of advice you wish you had when you first started paying attention to how you dressed?

I want to build a style that feels intentional, but I need a map so I don't get choice paralysis. Appreciate any advice on how to take the first few steps!

Well….it finally happened

This week I got the chance to have my first wreck on track. It was bound to happen eventually. At least I have some video to commemorate this milestone.
