What do you think about the political messaging of the edge of horizon?
I very recently binged the currently available episodes of the edge of horizon and i was relatively pleasantly surprised to find plot beyond just the romance. although i think the political timeline of the story was watered down in terms of screen time i think that is valid since this show is still a romance-heavy one and the production budget is still limited. i wasn't expecting such a layered take on political advancements and the concept of revolution. i am enjoying the fact that the success of the revolution didn't automatically fix the nation and the notion that both sides of the political movement have people with personal interests beyond the welfare of the citizens, i like that phob is slowly figuring this out and am curious to see how they'll deal with this conflict.
Tin being a good and caring person yet still being a certain amount of blind to the personal privilege hes had is also a very realistic portrayal, he is an honest and hardworking person but is also part of the system that steals from the people and doesn't discourage his family from acting upon this privilege. Phob's conflict between his loyalty to the people in his life and the need to sacrifice these relationships for the greater good of his country is well written and feels realistic in context of existing historical happenings.
In general, I think the main characters are well written with complex personalities, they make mistakes and have traits that need development yet doesn't make them bad or unlovable. I don't think the plot, the conflicts or the characters are particularly hard to understand despite depicting gray areas but I have noticed that for some reason a lot of people had a hard time sympathizing with the characters. In the see of people who have been hating on either Phob or Tin on other socmed platforms I wanted to appreciate the existence of a story that is this layered.
