My dietician is starving me to death

Hi everyone.

I’m writing from
The UK.

I’m 21, and have had gastroparesis since 2024.

I have tried all the anti sickness and stomach motility medications they can give me.

I’m now at a point where I’m throwing up everything, drinks, food, medication. All of it.

I had a follow up with my dietician the other day just sobbing to her about how awful my symptoms are and she asked me what I wanted to do, and I just said I’m seriously considering a feeding tube because I just want stable nutrition. This isn’t about wanting a tube, because no one wants that, but my symptoms are so severe I can’t cope being alive anymore.

She just blatantly said to me that in order for me to be considered for a feeding tube, I’d need to loose more weight.

I have struggled immensely with anorexia from the ages of 10 to 17 years old and it was something I kept to myself out of shame and stigma (I grew up in a religious South Asian family.)

But now her saying that has just sparked my anorexia mindset again, so if loosing weight is the key to getting stable nutrition and a tube, then I’m more than happy to fucking starve myself then.

Fuck the NHS. They are killing me.

This was the letter she sent me after the follow up.

Dear Colleague,

Alisha was reviewed in dietetic gastroenterology clinic for nausea and vomiting.

Dietetic plan

I have organised a follow up in 4 months

Yours sincerely,

Dietitian

I just feel SO depressed and angry and I just want to die because what is the point of living life with these fucking awful condition.

And I’m not stupid, I know feeding tubes come with risks. But I just want stable nutrition. That’s all.

Dietician running out of options

Hey everyone!

I’m currently in hospital recovering from brain surgery and my nutrition has been awful since April this year.

The dietician finally saw me today and we’ve decided that for now he’s going to give me forti-sip oral supplements to manage my nutrition for the interim, but the long term plan is to have either an NJ or a PEG J.

My mum is struggling to process this and just wants my gastroparesis to be “cured.”

For context I’m 21, live by myself and have limited contact with family due to them abusing me when i was younger so hence why I now live on my own. Thankfully they’ve moved to a different city now.

But yeah, I’m just really struggling with how my mum is choosing to process this thing of going down the feeding tube route to manage my gastroparesis.

Also if anyone has any advice around how to have confidence around family with feeding tubes as that’ll be the most likely way things will be going now given how malnourished I’ve been over the past few months, that would be very much appreciated! 💚

Struggling to find a romantic partner

Hey everyone, I’m Ali, I’m 21, an AFAB non binary person but I present largely as trans masculine.

However, I’m currently questioning if I’m a trans guy.

But to make the whole gender fuckery less confusing, I’m just a transmasc NB human!

I have a wonderful friendship circle, however I’ve really struggled when it comes to romantic relationships.

I currently identify as a lesbian with regards to my sexuality and have done for 10 years. But I do have a lot of physical disabilities that make dating quite difficult on my side.

I’m blind, I can’t see peoples faces, I also have a brain condition, which I’m going into my second surgery for on Tuesday, called Hydrocephalus which means there’s too much fluid in the brain and I’m having a device called a shunt fitted to help the fluid drain. As a result this has caused me balance issues, memory issues etc;

I also have gastroparesis which is a paralysed stomach as well as dysphagia which means I have difficulty swallowing.

I’m just really wanting a partner. Someone who I can just spend hours talking to, laughing together, having that long term romantic love that I so deeply crave. I’m on Hinge but I’ve not gotten any matches or likes and it’s very difficult for me to go out in person to any dating events and I’d find speed dating too stressful! 😅

If anyone is willing to help a fellow transmasc NB lesbian navigate the dating scene then that would be much appreciated!!

Also taking girlfriend or partner applications here as well because why not!! 😌

Age has to be 20 minimum!! I won’t date anyone under 20!! My max age limit is 30!

Also I don’t drink or smoke or vape so if you find that “boring” then I’m sadly not the one for you! 😅

I live in the East of England, so in a relatively small area of the UK!

Thanks for reading my ever long vent 🏳️‍⚧️❤️‍🩹

Nintendo Switch 2 Screen Reader?

Hey everyone!! I’m blind & I’ve had my Switch 2 for around a year now and it’s really frustrating me that the screen reader that’s built into the NS2 only works on the Home Screen but completely goes away when I open any game, Nintendo ones included.

I hardly play it anymore due to this reason. Does anyone have the same issues with their NS2 screen reader as well?

I’m also looking for more accessible handheld consoles as well now because I thought that the screen reader would extend to at least Nintendo’s own games?! But sadly not.

Once again it just seems like accessibility was an afterthought and I’m tired of it. I want a games console that puts accessibility at the forefront of their development!

Thank you for listening! 😊
