The radio stations in my area are completely random which stations are on each tower.

I was looking through FCC data for the Anchorage radio market only to be completely surprised how a group of stations under the same ownership are all under different towers. What’s confusing for me is one tower holds multiple stations that are owned by different groups.

For example IHeart owns 4 FM stations in my area and most of them are on different towers. But a competitor like Connoisseur media(merged with Alpha Media) will share the same tower with Iheart and also has multiple stations spread out on different towers. Neither of these companies own any of the towers.

Another group Ohana Media Group owns one of the towers but doesn’t even have all their radio stations on the tower they own. The tower they own also has a tv transmitter on it ran by bridge news with a bunch of junk digital sub channels.

Wouldn’t it be most cost effective for these radio station owners to use the same tower for all of their stations.

My local College radio station has an unusually long range for the low output power but never clear sound

The transmitter is rated by the FCC as 0.3kw but can be picked up by my car in places where higher power stations and repeaters go out of range. It always seems to have static and has been like this since I can remember. The website says they are experiencing issues with their broadcast in May but it seems normal to me. The station is KRUA 88.1 and is licensed to the University of Alaska Anchorage. https://kruaradio.org I’m just curious if it’s setup to be a longer range but weaker signal or something.

IHeart radio has slowly killed radio talent over the years

After being surprised this week to hear a local radio personality let go from a pop and country station it made me nostalgic for some other people cut over the years in my area. I used to like listening to a morning show that eventually fell victim to IHeart cuts several years ago. The company seemed better when it was called Clear Channel. The Anchorage radio market has gotten worse over the years. The dial may still be full but the transmissions have nothing valuable to offer anymore.

I’m surprised Sterling even cliques with this crowd being from Alaska

When the show mentioned Sterling was from Alaska I didn’t think much of it at first. Alaska is so tossed around in reality shows these days. But Sterling actually does have deep ties to Alaska and graduated from Eagle River high school in 2019. He was also a summer intern for Alaska wealth advisors in 2023.

For those unfamiliar with the area Eagle River is a bedroom community in the municipality of Anchorage about 15 min from “Anchorage” itself. Although it’s mostly known for being a residential military community close to the military base the area offers multiple spectacular hiking trails and has a nature center.

I don’t know many people around the area here who would fit in or relate with LA influencer culture much less this disaster of a reality show. Honestly Brynn being on dance moms would have more in common with these people and that’s not saying much. Sterling actually seems more much outdoorsy and adventurous than myself and I would be lost in LA. Wonder if he will introduce his friends to Moose’s Tooth pizza or anything from here.

Mountain Dew variety pack has a different bottling code than usual in my area

It seems like only certain bottlers are making it. My area has a Pepsi owned distribution center but the bottling code at the bottom is different than the two bottling plants that Pepsi/contracted soda brands usually come from here. Kinda proves this is in a limited supply.

Do y’ll have Costco’s in sketchy areas?

Store #63 that opened in 1992 in Anchorage is probably located in the most questionable area I’ve seen a Costco. Let’s say I’m very familiar with the immediate area and would never think to open one where this one is. Anchorage has store #10 that opened in 1984 in a commercial area closer to upper income neighborhoods. Then there is a business center in a shopping center that draws crowds from all over.

How does the money work in parlay’s?

With single bets it seems more straightforward but let’s say a popular option in a parlay goes south and wrecks the majority of the combo’s for the day. Wouldn’t there be money leftover that doesn’t get paid out? Also there could be days where tons of high stakes parlay’s hit and the payouts are higher than the money put in.

When I first signed up I got a few sports wins right away and was excited thinking this would be so profitable. That’s when I fell into trouble I would bet on almost any live sport event available. I blew up my first account and then lost $500 attempting to pick up pennies in front of a steamroller. Put another $500 in built that account up and almost blew it up till somehow I was able to work with $100 to build it back up to $800. Then I blew that up kept losing and stopped entirely when my profitability was negative 1.8k. That realization led me to quit for 2 months.

Recently I slowing started getting back in but much more cautiously. I put $100 in had a decent win on point spread and put that all in on a parlay. I won $3kish had a few losses this last week but was able to recover those with a smaller parlay yesterday. I am up $1.5 k now on my total trades.

Some would say take the wins and walk away for good but we all continue even though we don’t get everything right. But I also realize the only reason why am out of the red is one lucky parlay lol
