Showerthought: Maybe we already know the real name of The City

We can all agree that the setting of Thief is based heavily on London, right?

>Mark Lizotte was easily the most informed in terms of art history, and he led the charge in realizing the Dickensian/Baroque mix, I think we were both in love with the idea that these styles showed the maximum possible difference between the rich and poor — the rich were ostentatious beyond reason, and the streets between their houses were something out of Oliver Twist.

And in real life there's a difference between London and The City of London (often just referred to as The City). So maybe some of the random place names we hear in the game, like Hrabota or something, are actually the name of the city in which The City is located? Something to chew on.

Ichthyjinn doodle

https://25thcrossing.com/strident_talk.html

>V: See? (pause) Yes, it's still squatting on your shoulders. Ugly thing. Imagine a boa constrictor fucked a genie.
S: ... (pause) I can't.
V: You're probably better off. (pause) It's a nasty bit of business, your ichthyjiin. It's a sand ghost, pre-Nirn. Rock hits, bam, it wakes up in the wrong world, so it needs a host body. That's you in a few weeks. You'll lose your legs in a day or two, they don't need them. Like most things bad in here, ichthyjiins travel snakewise. The Blanket brought all kinds of that shit with it.

I tried to add a little bit of the Kyle Odom Martian in there too because I thought it was fitting.

Just as the legends have foretold

From Red Shambhala by Andrei Znamenski. It's a casual read, the author obviously doesn't care for communism but it's interesting. It's also on the reading list provided at the end of The Nuclear Dharma by Krishnaqayaamat, a self-styled 'Western Aghori' (read: crypto-niner). Mentally ill rambling has it's own unique appeal.

Nerevar had a mommy fetish

Devotee of Azura, husband of Almalexia

>I guess if Vivec was my fascination with transhumanity, then Almalexia was my fear of evil mothers and Sotha Sil my statement on Hell.

-MK

One of Almaexia's titles: Mother Morrowind

>In the stories, Azura is often encountered more as a communal progenitor of the race as a whole rather than as an individual ancestor. She is associated with Dusk and Dawn, and is sometimes called the Mother Soul.

https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:The_Anticipations

>
I am the sword, Ayem the star, Seht the mechanism that allows the transformation of the world.

Moon-and-Star, Azura's star

N'wah loved MILFy star-women.

I'm not against yaoi either, it's highly possible Dumac and Dagoth/Alandro Sul were the Huna to his Pelinal so-to-speak. I just think that he had a MILF fetish on top of being good friends with his bros.

What do we think the deal is with The Blanket and the 25th Crossing in general

>I step over the remains of the slipsuit she wore. She must have torn it all off because of the heat. It's smothering in these tunnels. The suit is punctured in places anyway. The fungus would have already started spreading inside.

https://ghostchoir9.com/prologue.html

>O: The Blanket is everyone's problem.
C: So you keep saying.
O: I can promise you more safety this time.
C: That's a lie.
O: It's not. I've found a linguist of the dead. And secured EC approval for the addition of a Continuitor. Both of them natives to their expertise. No shortcuts.

https://25thcrossing.com/crane.html

>6221285.00.1 aurbicle decay rate unchanged since Cursed Crossing. See attached testcomps for more information. EC Recommendation: despite known limitations of D16 model memospores, Breacher teams to still consider them as part of standard kit. Dreamsleeve interference to remain ongoing as supplemental investigations under the Blanket. Broader team messaging to remain unchanged

https://25thcrossing.com/decay.html

So basically from what I gather so far: there's a giant deadly fungal infection blanketing the land in post-Red Year Morrowind that nobody really gives a shit about. The Imperial Geographic Society wants to investigate further, but they lack funding from the government. In order to raise public awareness, they're trying to hire a famous reporter from the Black Horse Courier who has prior experience making the Crossing into Morrowind. There's also a moth priest dude in a cuck chair in the corner spying on the conversation and I assume reporting to the Elder Council?

It's mostly stuff from the decay document that confuses me.

The gist of it is that a member of the IGS is reviewing a partially recovered collection of memospores from the 18th Crossing. There's mention of ghosts (I'm assuming members of the Ghost Choir), "Serpent influence", I'm not sure I follow exactly what's going on.

Also, is MK is trying to talk about Skyrim in an indirect way?

>Safety Procedure: Terrestonial compiled ruin (EC standard suite 4E11), aetheric retrogession (EC standard suite 4E11), Echophage baffler (Ghost Choral standard suite infinitial)

Skyrim's release year.

>...86 abandoned lines of thinking. No evidence of serpent influence. Standard stray ambient capture common to D16 model memospores...

>...EC Recommendation: despite known limitations of D16 model memospores, Breacher teams to still consider them as part of standard kit. Dreamsleeve interference to remain ongoing as supplemental investigations under the Blanket...

>C: First off, congratulations. I'm happy for you, Colonel, I really am. Those are extraordinary gets. Everyone knows about the project's funding cuts. Everyone knows the Emperor thinks--

So the Breacher teams are being forced to use shit hardware because of funding cuts? IDK I feel like he's saying something, could def be wrong though. Any thoughts?

I wish we got ceremonial beetle armor in the game

Also, kind of funny that a faction stereotyped as being isolated loners is also depicted wearing armor that requires an entire team to assemble, and is presumably only worn during special occasions in order to impress other people.

The first image is by Mikhail Pabor the rest is by MK

Were the Tribunal compassionate towards their people despite Padomaic philosophy or because of it?

So Padomaic philosophy is generally seen as pretty doggy dog, right? A lot of sadomasochistic elements, a lot of predatory social darwinism, "I am alive because that one is dead. I exist because I have the will to do so.", that sort of thing.

My gut instinct would be to say that the Tribunal's relative kindness to the Dunmer contradicts all of this.

I could swear there's a quote from a text out there where Vivec states the Daedra don't do things out of empathy but the Tribunal do. The Temple offers charity and affordable housing to the poor, Temple Law includes Fair Price and Fair Labor, they even offer free healing services. For a place like Tamriel that's pretty damn good. And of course Almalexia and Vivec take a personal interest in the lives of their people.

But this empathetic behavior isn't limited to the Tribunal. Under Nerevar's rule Morrowind was super peaceful. Veloth ditto, his rule is seen as a golden age of the Chimer. He's also the champion of Boethiah as well as a pacifist somehow (he was at least against physical violence).

So what gives. Why are all these Ayn Rand followers doing kind stuff for weak people when Lorkhan designed Nirn as a hell-realm on purpose.

What did Nerevar's original mask look like?

What My Beloved Taught Me mentions Nerevar wearing a mask

>You? You seem to live no life that I can match, and seem to do it from behind a mask. Drinksweat tubes beneath, if I’m no mistake. Fair, then: you have riches and a good master. So pay now or move on. I live by gutting those that would estimate me as some other worth; higher, lower, base, or dumb beast.

Of course it's a metaphor, but I think Nerevar is also literally wearing a mask. Masks are pretty common in Chimer/Dunmer culture, Dagoth Ur has a mask, Sotha Sil has a mask, Almalexia has a mask, Vivec has 2 masks, the Ordinators wear masks, etc..

I know Indoril armor looks like this, but the masks Ordinators wear are made in honor of Nerevar. The OG himself couldn't have worn them:

>The Indoril masks were official, and they each depicted his true visage. There was also a special Daedric helmet version in the Morrowind Art Book, but its look depicted his more terrible aspect as Hortator and Padomaic champion.

So, any thoughts? I personally think it would have tusks like the Konahriik mask, I feel like tusks are symbolic of something and there's a lot of resemblance between the roles of Hortator and Konahriik.
