Looking for heavy weight euro for advanced player

Hello

I am seeking recommendation for an ultimate heavy-weight euro/brain burning game. So far my favourite games are:

Twilight Imperium IV

Barrage

Food Chain Magnate

Terraforming Mars

Scythe

Gloomhaven

Generally I would say I like games that rely on planning, developing (characters, cities, nations, industries - doesn't matter that much what it is exactly) and making decision that is best in current moment. I rather avoid games with randomness. For solo modes, I prefer automa or win condition based games, not a fan of byos. I think my favourite one so far is Scythe automa.

Ideally if one play can wrap up in 2-2.5hrs, however that is not a hard limitation. Can be a campaign game, then time is bound to one scenario.

I was looking at:

Europa Universalis

Hoplomachus: Victorum

One of Lacerda's game (never played any, not sure which one is best for solo and on the short end)

Anachrony

Pax Pamir or Pax Renessaince

Age of Steam

I'd appreciate if you can suggest other titles or give a hint which one would fit best - or the other way around, if any is too close to games I already own/like or wouldn't match needs. Thank you in advance!

Historical economy/strategy/war game

Hello

I am looking for a game that you can lead a nation, run economy, do innovations and in the end build armies to fight with other nations. Ideally, if it sits in historical reality - I don't want to limit to any specific time/region.

Basically looking for TI4 type of game of the past while being shorter and soloable. I can easily find sci-fi 4X games, but struggling with historical ones. Scythe is maybe a bit closer to what I look but it is loosely factual.

Thank you for any suggestion

Please share your experience with Zish Frost Blades Warden

Hello

Recently I was looking into Zish's Frost Blades Warden. I am a melee / freeze enjoyer who prefers mapping over bossing so it caught my attention. So far my favourite build of all time was Lightning Strike Raider back in the day before all LS nerfs.

I am wondering, how far you can take that build? Does it scale enough to do deli beyond high density strats (like beyond in 3.28)?

In one of the vids I watched from him he mentioned he will provide an end game pob with cluster jewels etc but I cannot find it. Most of FB Wardens on poeninja seems to be built around new belt and double tincture setup, rather than multi-ailment.

Thank you!

Looking for melee scaling build

Hello fellow Exiles

Melee enjoyer here:) last couple of leagues I managed to gain pretty nice currency, but I failed translating that into end game build. My goal is to build hyper fast mapper or uber boss killer. This league I saved around 3k divines, so at the time I was playing that would be at least 2.5mir.

Which builds would you recommend looking into? I want to be better prepared for next league and have a prepared build that is fun for me. Let's assume for the time being late game builds are untouched (except minion pact).

Thank you!

E: content creator advice for endgame melee builds would be also great 😃

How do you get returning proj speed for frost bladed

Hi

I have a bit later start to Phrecia. I want to play frost blades Surfcaster. To improve single target dps I want to get to returning proj asap. To make it work I need plenty of proj speed ( I think consensus is 140%). How to get there?

Thank you!

Looking for sustainable attack-based, cold damage build

Hello fellow Exiles

I start to think about next league. I spent last couple of leagues experimenting with different builds, now I'd like to settle on one and push it as far as I can.

Now I look for a build that can fulfill as much of following mechanics as possible (all is impossible, I know):

- attack build (can be melee) with claw or other sustain (insta leech, life on hit)

- cold damage

- self attack, no traps/mines/minions - however some trigger build is fine, like HRoC

- 1h1s to use Svalinn or other strong shield for block

- open belt options for HH, Mageblood or shrine belt

- at least one core defence maxed (evasion+suppress or block)

- dmg taken converted to Elem + chaos, like going divine flesh. I know that fire conversion is dirty expensive, but at least last league lightning was 2div

- not clunky

I was thinking about frost blades, I played it in the past, many leagues ago - I liked it, but back then its single target dps was bad. I think now there are more options with chains and returns. However I am open to any option. It doesn't have to be a league start / from act 1 build. Usually during the league I am able to farm about 1.5mir and I prefer content based on high density clearing - like Alva in 3.27 or Breach in 3.28 with beyond, pack size etc.

Thank you in advance!

Looking for proven frost blades guide

Hello fellow Exiles

I am a fan of sustained claw builds and safety of cold damage, therefore I am interested in frost blades. I only played it once loooooong time ago, then it's single target was awful.

I'd like to give it another try since I think with more chaining or fork and returning projectiles it can be better. Is there any viable guide that will cover:

a) general levelling (I can figure out stuff myself, only general information like: go frost blades or another skill)

b) how to push dps early to progress maps

c) how to address single target

Eventually, maybe there is better option with claws and cold damage?

Thank you advance Exiles!

E: interested in non-phrecia ascendancies ;)

Any wanderer whisperer guides?

Hello fellow Exiles

This will be my first Phrecia event. I'd like to play wanderer whisperer (KBoC into MFA) and I was wondering is there any good guide for levelling with Phrecia ascendancies?

I play Poe for quite some time, but barely bow/wanderer builds. Therefore, any step by step guide/hint, especially for passive tree and early links would be very helpful!

Thank you in advance and see you in Wraeclast soon:)

Game about organizing a gang

Hello

I was wondering, if there is any boardgame where you can build your own mafia/gang. When I was a kid, I was playing PC game "Gangesters: Organized Crime" where you could hire thugs, do some "smaller" activities, gather money, get better thugs/equipment to pull of bigger hesists etc. I think that can be pretty good boardgame mechanic - with push your luck elements etc.

Do you know if there is any good title with such motive?
Thank you in advance!

What are my options if I want to play ToTA not as zdps tank

Hello fellow Exiles

One thing upfront, that motivated me to write this request post: I haven't played previous phrecia events and I have no exp with those ascendancies. Initially I wanted to try out my potential league starter for 3.29 - Ignite Penance Brand, but I don't think that's a good idea for ToTA.

Therefore I am looking for different options. I think alternative to zdps tank (I like engaging builds) is to go glass cannon. What are good DPS options with Phrecia ascendancies? I look for a build I can start with - however I am not a racer so for me it's fine if scaling build will take longer, I am not looking for day 1-2 build. Usually during leagues I am able to farm about 1.5mir.

Thank you in advance Exiles!

Need wallet size game recommendation

Hello:)

I am looking for small boardgame that I could take to holiday/business trip without taking too much space. For reference ideally if it doesn't exceed size of Jaipur. If I can put it into wallet - even better.

From what I could tell, Sprawlopolis seems to be most recommended one. Unfortunately I cannot find it in EU. I found Agropolis, which I think is a reimplantation? If yes, is it good or can I look for better title?

First war game recommendation

Hello folks

I am into board gaming quite a while, but I never tried a wargame before. I am looking for recommendation from experts :)

Things that I do like in boardgames:

- tactical depth

- up to medium randomness

- up to 1hr play time (ideally including setup)

- can be campaign, as long one scenario doesn't exceed time above

Solo experience is the main target. I'm in EU so probably some titles won't be available, but I will filter them out.

Thank you in advance!

Fast, strategic solo game that plays up to 45 mins

Hello

I own some soloable boardgames, but most of those are from times where I could spend more time playing and were intented for multiplayer.

Now, I have less time to play (up to 1.5hr), I usually prefer to do few plays. This is why I am looking for new game.

Few words about my preferences:

- engine/tableau builders (Terraforming Mars), 4x (Twilight Imperium, Scythe), economy, planning (again TM, GWT), deduction (bomb busters, search for planet x)

- strategic depth, multiple ways of achieving victory or having to adopt strategy to input that game provides

- I don't like heavy randomness in games (final girl style)

- single play up to 45 mins, ideally including setup/teardown

I own Deckers and Unstoppable, but I want a shorter game. I also have Heat which I like, but it lacks depth to me.

Thank you in advance!

Engine/tableau builder that plays faster than TM

Hello

I am a big fan of Terraforming Mars - both solo and multiplayer, but recently I find it too long for me. Therefore, I am looking for a different engine/tableau/combo builder (I have dopamine shots when things work together well 😄) that will play faster - ideally up to an hour, 1.5hr is acceptable.

Using TM as reference few other remarks:

  • I like when all cards / actions are meaningful - maybe just not fitting your strategy / situation in all cases (counter example: Wingspan - for me most cards feel uninteresting, not making impact)
  • Can be more complex, that's not an issue for me
  • As mentioned, dopamine for pulling out some nice combos/engines 😉
  • If multiplayer possible - more player interaction than in TM (prefer not coop)
  • Available in retail - for example, I know Marvel Champions, but its release "cycle" pushes me off

Thank you in advance!

YT channel / podcast about solo gaming

Hello

I am looking for a YouTube channel or podcast oriented for solo gaming.

So far, I liked Totally Tabled the most - Shaggy is clearly an enthusiast, great at explaining rules and production is great quality. However, we have pretty different taste when it comes to games, so this is why I'd like to look for other sources.

So far other YT channels I tried don't appeal to me - usually because of production or content not being engaging.

What I am looking for - playthroughs, ranks/list/comparisons, games to watch for in crowdfunding or about to get released in retail.

Thank you in advance!

Chilling, relaxing, fun and short (up to 30mins) evening game for somebody used to euro games

Hello fellow boardgamers

I used to play heavy euro games (some examples would be TI4, Terraforming Mars, Food chain magnate or Unstoppable, Captain's Chair for solo) and while I still enjoy them, recently I am not able to group into a party and my play time is limited to short time before bed. Therefore I am looking for a game to relax after tough day - looking for something thematically funny, I like absurd type of humour but since it's subjective it's not a hard requirement.

When it comes to game mechanics I don't like trick taking, tile placement and dice rolling. I own Heat, I think this is closest from my collection to what I am looking for, but I'd prefer it to be less about planning and play shorter. Some lightweight campaign where single scenario is short is also fine.

Thank you in advance!

Game where city builder meets tower defense?

Hi

I am looking for a boardgame that would be sort of mix of city builder (so building economy, placing buildings etc - something like pc settlers/anno) and at the same time protecting from outer world - something alike turret defense, but can be anything else - weather, zombies, barbarian, aliens, whatever. Best would be if those encounters are in a way announced before and you have time to react. Not just throw random event that resolves immediately.

Looking for ideas :) thank you in advance!

Detective/Mystery solving

Hello

I am a fan of crime mystery books (Christie alike) and I am wondering, is there a solo boardgame where you solve who committed a crime?

I played already Detective Season 1 with a group, I liked it. Now I am down to my own:)

Thank you in advance!

Hello I am looking for yet another boardgame for evenings. I own a couple of solo deck building games (Unstoppable, Star Trek: Captain's Chair, Heat) that I like and play regularly, but now I am looking for a shorter game, that is also a bit more relaxing. Since those are all deck builders I thought it's time for something else.

Some games I already considered, but looking for more:

- Maquis - looks really cool, but seems out of stock

- Warp's Edge

- Under Falling Skies

I'd also prefer not a beat your own score type of game. I'd prefer fun to come from the theme and what you actually do (as an example - I love Battlestar Galactica and more than I care about winning is to find out traitors). Can be also a campaign game that setups and plays quick, with a manageable save.

Thank you in advance!

Hello

Lately I am enjoying mostly solo games, but I miss games that are quick to setup and plays up to 1hr. Usually I play brain burning games or heavy euros. So I am looking for a title that has some vibe of them - tactical depth, decision making.

So far I've been chronically avoiding dice games since when I was kid all available games were about lucky rolls - that's still the case, but if this is more of a "input" randomness over "outcome" then I can have a look into it. This is not a hard requirement though.

Late edit: most of my collection for solo is deck/tableau builder, would prefer something else this time 😄

Thank you in advance for any suggestions!
