What does building in public mean outside of Reddit?

I was an introverted person. I still am. But a bit better. I started to reach out to people more. I am posting questions in reddit.

Honestly reddit makes me feel a bit comfortable in posting. Also each sub has an audience which makes it easier to put content in front of intended people.

Other than reddit, what should I do to call myself building in public? I am not even sure how to reach audience in X and Linked in.

Will you use free invoicing software

Will you use a very easy to setup free invoicing software with crm. But all the data will only be in your local machine. No cloud backup. But you can take local backups.

For a cloud hosted version you need to pay around 200 to 500 INR per month. That includes stuff like cloud backups, multi user, multi device, etc.

What feature would it need for you to betray your current invoicing software or the ones that are already free in the market?

ChatGPT cited my own reddit post

Has this ever happened to you? I was searching how to get warm leads on what I am working and it cited my own reddit post as validaton. It was funny to me.

How to find design partners for my startup, I will not promote

Working on a product that benefits startups whose primary product are APIs and SDKs.

My intention is to sign a paid LOI with a couple design partners for like 3 months and build the product. If they are not satisfied with how the product have turned out after three months I can refund them.

Is this a good approach? If yes, how can I find right people? Just cold dms?
If no, please suggest any better alternatives. I dont want to build in isolation. I want to build on live feedbacks.

Hi guys,

I have been working with a product for sometime and I believe will be useful for startups whose products are mainly APIs and SDKs.

I have asked for validations before I started building and have seen startups who have built internal tools for this. So the problem should be real upto an extent imo.

While I am working on it, I would like to validate it more. So I want you guys to see if this is relatable for you and will you pay for it. (I have a case study of a startup as well, would love to share and discuss in a gmeet if this aligns with you)

Here is what I am working with,

The problem:

API first companies struggle to keep their backend code, OpenAPI specs, SDKs, API docs, examples, and packages in sync as the API evolves. A coding agent struggles to implement it if there are any drifts in these.

The solution:

A single source of truth that connects your API code, OpenAPI specs, SDKs, docs, examples, and packages, and automatically detects and propagates changes across all of them.

To put in simple terms, you focus on the main product, which is the API. Everything else stays in sync automatically.

\---

Above is the one main problem to focus. But this is also an additional part I am working on:

A coding agent struggles to implement it if there are any drifts in these. So after each evolution, the system can run the API/SDK changes in a sandbox and test whether a coding agent can actually implement and use the updated API/SDK successfully.

But the main problem I am trying to solve is keeping the API ecosystem in sync.

\---

Any inputs, feedback or suggestions will be very helpful. Please comment anything you can think of when you see this. Thank you in advance.

23M Advice needed, Messed up bad

I’m 23, a software engineer/freelancer, and I’m also trying to build my own startup.

I’m trying to figure out how I should balance my finances, work and startup without burning myself out.

My income is currently around ₹15-16L/year in hand.

My recurring monthly commitments are:
Land EMI: ₹27k
I give my mom: ₹30k
Parent’s loan: ₹10k
House rent: ₹21k
Credit card EMI: ₹13k
Personal loan: ₹13k
Eb, Mobile Bill, Petrol and other expenses: ₹10k

Total recurring commitments: ₹1.24L/month
I also have a one-time around ₹1L payment from my friends to clear.

Just cleared my education loan last month.

My schedule is another problem. I usually sleep around 8 AM and wake up around 2 PM. I need to fit in freelance work, and startup work. I’m trying to maintain my current income while also building something that could eventually become my main source of income.
I feel like I’m in a position where I need to increase my income, but I also don’t want to spend every waking hour working and completely sacrifice my startup or personal life.

I used to have 6 pack abs. Now I am fat and cant go gym and sleep well. 😭

For people who have been in a similar situation.
What would you do if you were me?
I’m looking for practical advice from people who have actually dealt with this kind of situation.

How are you keeping your SDKs, docs, and examples in sync with your main API?

When we are updating our API as our product evolves, how do you make sure the SDKs, multiple doc sources, code examples, and packages like npm/PyPI stay up to date without introducing drift?

Started an agency to help businesses increase their online presence, recover missed leads and mainly help them get more clients. Looking for advice on getting my first long-term clients.

Hi everyone,

I recently started a business (https://wakytaky.com) that helps service businesses get more customers, recover missed opportunities, and improve customer retention.

I'm confident in building the solutions. The part I'm struggling with is getting my first few long-term clients.

If you've grown a service business or agency, I'd really appreciate your advice.

  • How did you get your first few recurring clients?
  • What outreach methods actually worked?
  • If you were starting over today with no reputation, what would you do differently?
  • What made potential clients trust you enough to give you a chance?

I'm not looking for shortcuts or magic tricks. I just want to learn from people who have already been through this.

Thanks in advance. Any advice is appreciated.

I'll Build Your AI Idea and Open Source It

Instead of building another AI wrapper, I'd rather solve real problems.

Drop the AI system or automation you've always wanted.

I'll build the best ideas, open source them on GitHub, and make them easy to customize.

Let's make useful software.

Freelancers who built an agency, what was the moment you realized you couldn't stay a solo freelancer anymore?

I'm curious what made you make the switch.

Was it too much work? A client asking for more than you could handle alone? Or just getting tired of doing everything yourself?

What made you realize you couldn't keep going solo?

And if you could go back, would you do it sooner, later, or not at all?

Fellow devs & founders: What’s your biggest pain with transactional email APIs (SendGrid, Netcore, ZeptoMail, etc.)?

Hey,

I'm a developer exploring a problem that's been bugging me, and I want to see if it's just my echo chamber or a real widespread pain.

My hypothesis is that there's a gap for something that gives you the modern DX of Resend/Vercel (React email support, clean API, instant API keys, great docs) combined with the local advantages of an Indian provider (INR pricing, Indian data residency, local support).

For those of you sending transactional emails (OTP, invoices, password resets, notifications):

  • Which provider are you currently using?
  • What is your single biggest frustration with them? (Is it deliverability issues? USD pricing? Clunky docs? Slow API? Dashboard UI?)
  • Do you actually care about data localization (keeping email logs/data in Indian servers) for compliance?
  • If a new provider offered clean DX + INR pricing + guaranteed Indian data residency, would you switch?

Please be honest. Even if you tell me the current tools are fine and I'm wasting my time, that's super valuable data.
