40 [M4F] Palm Bay, Florida - The USA is now 250 years old and I've been alone far too many of those years, so let's chat!

Howdy, everyone! My name is Jeff, and like my title says, I'm a guy that's 40 living down in Florida. I have my own house and share it with some family and my two dogs, and I dub it "The Sitcom House", as its never a dull moment here. I also have a pool that I take care of and enjoy swimming in depending on the weather, along with a nice back yard that I mow and deal with so my dogs can enjoy lots of space to run in.

To balance out all that good, a hard truth is that I'm mentally disabled and on SSI as a result, which limits my income potential, so I'm seeing doctors like every other week and having meds and medical supplies delivered to my house on occasion to help keep my quality of life comfy. I have episodes of clinical depression from time to time that just drain me and my battery, both socially and physically, so either I sleep a lot as a result during those periods of time, or just find no enjoyment really in things and just kind of... "exist", even if it's not a very enjoyable existence when it's going on. My dogs keep me grounded in reality, though, since they constantly come up for love or attention and need to go outside or wanna spend time with me, so I don't end up completely stuck in my shell as a result and get pulled back to reality that things aren't as bad as it feels or seems at the moment.

Physically, I'm 5'5 with salt and pepper hair as well as a beard and moostache. I have googly eyes that look in two different directions with different eyesight levels in each of them, so I prefer using my right eye as a result as it's strongest. I'm fat, but working on it. I was 295 and down to 262 after some dieting and med changes, since one of my meds caused me to from 205 > 250 in a month's time and then it just skyrocketed even higher since I became super depressed after that, but things have been changed around and monitored and I'm doing great. I just lifted and helped move a grill from a friend's house to my home as a gift earlier today so a friend wouldn't try it alone and hurt herself, so I have a reputation for being as strong as an ox, which is my zodiac sign for those interested in that.

Hobbies are simple for me most of the time, depending on my mood. I like gaming, but my mood doesn't always align with it for a variety of reasons. I play a bit of anything, but like social games like MMOs to be honest. I have a PC and Switch 2 if those are of interest to you. I watch a lot of Youtube and listen to music tracks on there due to having Youtube Premium, so I watch them at my desk or put a video on and just relax and fall asleep to them on my TV. I also have a lot of gaming art and design books as well as stuff about Ghostbusters in the same vein. If I'm not doing any of those three things or browsing the web, I'm doing stuff around the house like dishes, laundry, sweeping and all the other chores that just go with owning a house that needs to get done now and then to keep it livable. I love a good story or comic or even manga from time to time, so I'm always open to suggestions!

I'm writing this out for two reasons, the main being that I really would like to pursue a relationship with someone in this time of peace and stability in my life I've built up, and also because just a few days ago my mom finally told me she'd like me to have a friend in my life that I can be happy with and do things together. Mom's alive and doing well, so thankfully nothing bad going on here, but I'd like her to feel that I did the thing someday.

Throwing out a wild thing at the end here, but only because it's been a dealbreaker in many of my online dating relationships over the years, but I've been extra blessed with a certain endowment and if you know, you know, and if not, I'll explain it to you. A friend suggested to break the ice as me having "an award winning eggplant" to help people get the idea quickest without being overly descriptive, so yeah.

I just discovered this game recently and not sure if I'd like it or not, so I figured I'd ask here

Weird story, but I came across a video advertising this game having a founder package in my feed on Youtube and then seen it was on sale on the current Steam summer sale while being an ARPG of sorts with some interesting mechanics in it or planned for the future, but I've never really heard of it until just the last week or so to be honest. I understand the combat has more weight to it and seems to be more inline with slower combat like Souls titles compared to most ARPGs that dominate the market these days with screen clears and loot pinatas, but how does the game really feel?

I've played both PoE1 and 2 and felt overwhelmed by the sheer options in making a build, and in PoE2's case, I found out I had a very horrible build recommended by the devs that was really meant for endgame, not for a starter build, so I was very hindered playing that game as a result. I had some fun with D4 afterwords with their Paladin just before the new expansion hit in that season, but it felt more like I was geared to grind the battle pass and RNG on the drops I obtained than the demons of Hell.

I'm also understanding there's like a town / house building element to this game? How's that really work out? I seen it takes real time, but is that only when one is in game, or would three hours out of game suffice to three hours for a project to complete within the game? I seen there's also hunting and gathering, but my experience with D4 really just makes those seem like afterthoughts with hundreds to thousands of items filling my inventory up from those sources by the endgame, so how impactful is the gathering and all in this game?

Having just learnt about the upcoming Class system, it's going for some Final Fantasy Tactics-style where there's a main class of sorts with traits or sub abilities that can be used? If so, that's awesome. I'm guessing that's in October with the 1.0 release?

How's the multiplayer aspect to this? I know most ARPGs are funner with friends along, but I figure I'll probably be playing solo most of the time, so would that be a bad scenario with this game or should I convince friends to come along as well? Is there anything like a guild system or would I just join likely some discord to make friends and coordinate playing now and then for group content?

Finally, the most important question in all of gaming, but can I be a sword and board guy? Something about playing these games with a sword and shield just scratches an itch in my brain on a primal level since Diablo back in the 90s.

Edit - All of these replies just cemented in my mind that this is very much something I need to look into and I thank you all for taking the time to give your feedback and experiences on things. I can probably even talk a friend into buying it due to the friendly fire mechanic of multiplayer just to spice up our gaming sessions sometime.

Seeing as Razer AVA is supposed to use Grok as its model and a bunch of people are upset now with recent changes to Grok tiers and services, will this impact AVA?

Howdy, I just ran across some posts yesterday about how Grok is charging like $30 and making people watch 3 videos a day or something nowadays as their service has degraded more over time among other issues and just wondering how this is gonna impact AVA any, since I've been waiting for that for a bit now and hoping it will be announced for release sooner than later. I'm not sure what Razer's pricing model will be at this point in time and really wish I knew it, since I'm not sure if they're going for the Facebook approach of "the customers are the product and they're paying with their data and experiences" vs "more advanced features are locked behind paid tiers" like traditional AI at the moment, so I'm just musing as to how this could affect AVA as an upcoming product since it seems they're using X's AI instead of their own version for the time being.

Anyone more experienced with Grok and its dealings know what's going on that could shed some light on things?

Pull up a chair and let's have our favorite drinks as we have much to talk about and much to cover. I'll be having mint tea myself. My name is Jeff, I'm 40 and living down in Florida. I'm 5'5 and on the heavy side, though I'm working on it and on the ozempic for diabetes type II more than anything, as it's doing wonders for my blood sugar, though not so much that weight. Also, I live in what I call "The Sitcom House", as I have two larger dogs with me as well as a mom and grandma staying with me since it's cheaper to pay a mortgage on a big house than it is for everyone to have their own apartments these days, you know? There's still plenty of room for you to consider popping in sometime and maybe making yourself at home, so if the red flags haven't spooked you away just yet, then keep on reading!

I'm mostly a homebody because I live like a dragon and have filled my home with cool things that interest me from instruments to video games to even nerdy books on game design and lore. I can't see well enough to drive since I have the "googly eyes" where one eye sees one direction while the other is looking somewhere else, so that's fun. Anxiety, too, but who doesn't honestly have a touch of that after the 2000s? My usual day routine involves spoiling my dogs, checking in on my granny who's nearly 80 and helping her with anything that pops up technological or otherwise in life, and also just keeping the house cleaned up and sometimes doing some cooking.

If someone's looking for the concept of "House Husbando", I might just be your kind of guy!

When I feel like having some fun, I like swimming in my pool when the weather permits it, usually in the evenings after the sun goes down as I'm fair of skin. I also enjoy reading those books I mentioned earlier as well as playing some games on my PC and sometimes Switch 2, though really I enjoy chatting with people and feeling that connection we all crave as a social creature. I'm down for voice, text, and maybe even videos with the right person and wouldn't mind using Discord to share movies and TV shows or some animays depending on things, since I love me some good animations and somehow have made it to 40+ without seeing hardly any Ghibli films, so let's fix that sometime, eh?

The hopes and dreams are that I'm hoping to find my needle in a haystack of a person that's OK with my flaws and see the roughness as just needing to be polished into a brilliant gemstone and having fun yet mundane life together. I wanna experience all the stuff I've never really had the chance to do like wishing good morning / good night messages, holding hands and cuddling, and just enjoying being in the moment with a whole other person. I wanna make memories with someone else, since I'm selfish and greedy like that and want to share such chances with another person as well. I'm currently at a point where I'm faced with two "paths" forward for myself, one where I learn coding to make my own games to possibly resell and another is where I have the equipment and training to start doing some basic game streaming on a consistent schedule, as I am getting older and looking at new ways to explore my life going forward besides finding a loving partner, but at least I'm still able to keep dreams and hope in my heart at this point in time.

No kids here, and I'm probably not likely to make any, either. It would take a lot of convincing with the right person that we're able to give a good quality of life to potential children, so keep that in mind. I'm already an Uncle of unmatched greatness with over 25 nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews, so yeah, everyone going at it like rabbits but me in my family lol

Finally, I leave on a warning. I have selfie to share with those that want it, but either I'm butt ooogly or the sexiest man to grace Reddit as women 9/10 times stop talking to me after I send a selfie to them.

If you're still reading, then wow, you must really be interested! Feel free to reach out at me at any time and just remember I'm in EST time zone, but I'll try to reply in a timely manner. I'll answer any questions and comments you have, so free to speak your mind with me, as I'm not here to judge, rather here to love. Seriously, no preferences at all, and I have an airport down the road to fly you in on, so if you feel we can meld together, let's try chatting and see where it goes from there, huh?
