A few days in Istanbul, Turkiye

  1. Suleymaniye Mosque, as seen from Galata Bridge

  2. The iconic shot of the Galata Tower

  3. Galata Tower as seen from a ferry

4,5. The spectacular insides of Topkapi Palace

  1. Blue Mosque lit up at night

  2. the best Baklava I've ever had, at Hafiz Mustafa

  3. One of the million cattos in Istanbul

  4. Cisterna Basilica

  5. Caught a beautiful sunset on Eminonu pier

I absolutely loved the city and its warmth, the people were incredibly friendly and welcoming! I wish I got to see Hagia Sophia in all its glory, maybe next time(they're renovating it currently)

Please please please be extremely careful crossing the road

TW: accident

Tourist here, this is my fourth day in the city and I saw a massive accident happen today morning at Karakoy -- a speeding bike made direct collision with a lady crossing the road, she flung a few metres. She was unconscious for atleast ten minutes before CPR was administered and she began moving again and the ambulance arrived. To everyone, I know it gets a bit chaotic trying to cross these roads, trams in between, etc. but a few extra minutes is NOT WORTH RISKING YOUR LIFE. Please do not jaywalk it just isn't worth it.

Suggestions for a 3.5 day itinerary in Istanbul

Hello everyone!

I will be in Istanbul for 3.5 days(landing on an afternoon, and three full days after that). I understand that it's obviously too short to comprehensively see all of it, but I was wondering if people had any suggestions for the main themes on three days that I should definitely do!

The current plan I have right now, day wise is:

  1. First day(half a day) : Land, explore the area I'm staying in, maybe a relaxing hammam

  2. Sultanahmet: Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Bascilica Cistern

  3. Topkapi Palace and Grand Bazaar

  4. Galata Tower and Bosphorus Cruise

Is there anything you would change/add on/remove? Thanks a lot in advance!

Got out - probably not for me

Was averaged at 930, got out at 825. Feel like there will be plenty of entry points incase CapEx guidance is high, but downside will be very violent if not, so will re enter in a week or so. Found it very hard to stomach the big swings, was up about 30% and then down 15%

  1. The road leading up to Shibuya crossing

  2. Close up of a Sakura flower

  3. An evening in Kyoto

  4. The famous tori gates in Fushimi Inari

  5. Atop a mountain in Sapporo

  6. The Tokyo tower

  7. The Imperial palace in Tokyo

  8. Another shot of the imperial palace

  9. A cool cab in Kyoto!

  10. One of the most peaceful walks I've ever had, near Arashiyama in Kyoto

Visited three cities - Tokyo(4 days), Sapporo(2 days) and Kyoto(4 days).

Overall it was an incredibly fascinating experience and a great culture shock -- everything runs perfectly to the minute, the last mile connectivity of public transport is fantastic, never took a single cab despite carrying luggage. The food is to die for, and the amount of effort and care the chefs put into making it very clearly translates into how good it is.

The 7/11, Lawson experience was incredible too, it is beyond me how the food there is so fresh and tasty!

Pictured in order

1-2 Acropolis of Athens

3 Colosseum in Rome

4 Trevi Fountain in Rome

5 Sagrada Familia's beautiful windows

6 Gothic Quarters in Barcelona

7 Plaza de Espana in Seville

8 The Pantheon in Rome

I visited five cities - Madrid, Seville, Barcelona, Rome(for a day) and Athens. Athens might just be my new favourite city in the world, getting to see the acropolis from anywhere in the city centre combined with the warm people and lovely food makes it my favourite!
