How do I get WordPress website development clients?

I've recently started offering WordPress website development. I already provide Local SEO services and have a few clients for that, but most of them aren't interested in getting a new website because they already have one or don't think they need it.

I'm trying to figure out how to find people who actually need a WordPress website.

A bit about me:

I build WordPress websites for small businesses.

I also offer Local SEO, so I understand Google Business Profile and basic SEO.

I'm based in India, but I'm open to working with clients from anywhere.

What has worked for you?

Where do you find website development clients?

Is cold outreach worth it?

Should I focus on a specific niche?

Are platforms like Reddit, LinkedIn, Facebook groups, or Upwork worth the effort?

Any advice for someone trying to get their first few website development clients?

I'd really appreciate any practical tips or strategies that have worked for you. Thanks!

I Need A Feedback

I’m doing WhatsApp + Google Business Profile optimization services and my video content is already ready, but now I need an Instagram post image idea to go with it.

I was thinking of making something clean and professional, maybe showing before/after GBP results, chats, reviews, maps ranking, or something creative.

Do you think this type of image would work for Instagram? Or do you have any better ideas for what kind of image/design I should make?

I also attached one image I was thinking of using — should I use this style or change it completely?

I’m 19, currently doing college + a job while freelancing on the side.

Right now I mainly work on: • Google Business Profile optimization • WhatsApp optimization for local businesses

Currently working with 2 clients while trying to build a more cinematic/emotional visual direction for local business marketing instead of typical agency-style content.

Lately I’ve been experimenting with AI tools like Kling AI to create realistic short-film style visuals around the idea of “business invisibility.”

This image + video concept is part of that.

The short film is called: “Invisible Summer”

Core idea: A salon exists physically… but customers can’t really find it digitally.

So instead of explaining marketing technically, I’m trying to make business owners FEEL invisibility through: • silence • sunlight • waiting • environmental storytelling • realistic summer atmosphere • observational filmmaking

The visual style is inspired by: • quiet slice-of-life cinema • warm realistic lighting • minimal emotional storytelling • subtle loneliness • handheld realism

Here are some scenes I made using Kling AI for visualization/reference while developing the concept.

Would genuinely love honest feedback on: • Does the concept feel emotionally effective? • Does it look too AI-generated? • Is the realism convincing? • Does the minimal approach work? • What would improve the atmosphere/cinematography? • Does the idea feel memorable or too abstract?

Open to honest criticism.

Well I need help I'm stuck and don't know what to do

I’m 19 from Mumbai and currently working in SEO, so I already have some practical knowledge about local SEO and Google Business Profiles.

Recently I also started freelancing and offering:

Google Business Profile optimization

WhatsApp optimization/setup

review management

basic local SEO

Right now I only have 2 clients.

I’ve already tried:

cold DMs

calls

follow-up messages

Instagram outreach

free audits

personalized messages

Some businesses reply, but most ignore it or ghost after showing interest.

I honestly feel stuck and don’t know what direction to go next.

Now I’m confused whether I should:

learn Meta ads / PPC and focus more on lead generation

continue with SEO + GBP optimization

add short-form content/reels as a service

focus only on one niche like dentists, salons, gyms, etc.

For people who run agencies or freelance:

what helped you go from first 1–2 clients to getting clients consistently?

what service has the best demand right now for local businesses?

should I move more into paid ads instead of mainly SEO/GBP?

Would appreciate honest advice from people who’ve been through this stage.

Started managing a dietitian’s Google Business Profile around 1 month ago.

Profile views, website clicks, and interactions increased a lot, and GBP insights are showing around 14 calls compared to the previous period. But the client says they are not getting actual inquiry calls from it.

I know GBP sometimes counts quick taps/missed calls as calls, but now I’m confused about what to focus on next.

Currently doing:

Regular GBP updates

SEO optimized services

Review replies

Keyword optimization

Photos and profile activity

What would you improve next to increase actual inquiries/conversions from a local business profile like this?
