Just found out I was Donor Conceived at 18 years old

This may be unstructured - a bit of a blurt as I found out in the span of about an hour. I was doing birth technologies as a unit for a Law course, and knew that my sister was IVF concieved (I had assumed through my mothers egg). I went to speak with my mother (quite inconsiderately) and asked her straight up whether she was conceieved with a donor egg or with her egg. My mother got incredibly agitated and deflective (fair enough), and stormed off. During her quip she mentioned that I was IVF conceived aswell (which I had never known). Her reaction to me asking about the origins of the eggs and her subsequent spiel about how she had carried us for years and lost multiple babies led me to believe that both of us were born via donor eggs, meaning neither of us have a genetic relationship with our mother. I regret immensly the manner in which I approached my mother, and having read a few of the posts I understand what a traumatic and painstaking experience IVF is for mothers. Again as I said, I had a thought and instantly went to ask. My sister is much younger and doesn't know. I don't really know what to think or what to say. Of course this won't change my relationship with my mother who does so much for me and who I love very much, but my questions are huge as to who my genetic mother is. Not to mention how weird it is to think that my uncles and grandparents aren't actually my uncles and grandparents. Obviously everyone on this subreddit has been through this and knows how to approach finding genetic parents and trying to keep life the way it always has been, so any advice would help.

TLDR: I found out I am Donor Conceived, any advice helps!

Thanks!

P2 S60 2.5t AWD speed limiter?

The other day I found a nice open bit of road (private - obviously) and decided to open the taps on my old S60 with 215000kms. It has just had a service and with fresh oil and a new filter I decided now would be the right time. Sure enough it surged past 200 easily in 4th gear, but then seemed to hit a wall at 215kph. Is there a speed limiter for these cars at 215? I've read online that in some cars there are but others there aren't? I only had a short time at this speed as I was running out of runway but has anyone else had theirs faster?

What is this noise and is it worth fixing

2004 Volvo S60 2.5t AWD

Title. Basically this squeaking noise comes from the front left suspension when the car has sat for a while and then goes away after it's been driven for 10 to 15 minutes. I think it's a spring seat or mount as the rubber would expand and therefore stop the noise. Handling seems fine though there is slightly more of a thump noise going over bumps from the left (barely noticeable just cause I've driven the car so much and am used to it). Has just had new sway bar end links put in which completely fixed rattling I had before.

Any thoughts appreciated.

BRANDT made in Italy boots

These are my dad's old boots. Can't seem to find them anywhere on the internet. Does anyone know what they are and what sort of quality they are?

Thanks

2004 Volvo S60 2.5T AWD sits high at the rear

Title,

Not sure why although possible reasons down below:

- Left rear shock replaced due to leaking approx a year ago (previous owner) - right hasn't been done..

- Front suspension needs attention - spring seats and mounts likely gone (shocks seem fine with no leaks and no bouncing)

- previous owner used bigger springs for towing? Unlikely and guy I bought it off said it's always been that way - although he only had it for a year.

I am getting the front suspension done in a few days (shocks, spring seats, mounts etc) and will likely do the rear right to match the left.

Thoughts on why it's sitting like this? It's an AWD too if that makes any difference.

In all seriousness how can people seriously want One Nation in power?

Title, when they have vague policies, a hopelessly unqualified team, and leader who likens herself to the worst aspects of Trump? This is coming from someone who would identify on the conservative side of the political spectrum. All you have to look at is today when asked a genuine question by a Guardian reporter and completely avoided the question and just attacked the reporter and the Guardian in clasic Trump style. Surely as a population we have learned our lesson, and Albo isn't ideal but at least under him the country is stable?

Engine mount loose causing clunk in shifts?

2004 Volvo S60 2.5T AWD

Hi all,

Was noticing that when I go from drive to reverse or reverse to drive there is a noticeable clunk, although only once when the gear engages. In normal driving I haven't noticed any clunks even when pushing it hard up through the gears. I have read that a main cause of this can be the upper engine mount. I had a look and there's a fair bit of play when moving the guide rails for itef and right, and it seems like the rubber has detached from the aluminium. Not sure if it's supposed to be like that or not. When revving the engine moves less than an inch. Could it be the upper engine mount or axle ping or something else entirely.

Thanks

Volvo S60 2.5T timing belt & power steering

Hi All,

Just bought this Volvo S60 2.5t (2004) on the cheap with no service history. I've read that the big issues on these are the timing belt, PCV valve and the transmission. I have done the oil cap test and the pcv seems to be working well, and the transmission fluid is nice and amber (not brown). Coolant is clear and oil free too.

Pulling off the timing belt cover - it looks really clean with no cracks and a matte finish. Photo attached. No squealing or whining noises from the pulleys or tensioners either when it's running.

Should I replace the timing belt (car is at 213000kms) or just hope it doesn't come up?

Also I noticed the steering is quite heavy when the car is warm and when it's cold it's quite light and upon further inspection, the power steering resovoir is quite oily and seems to be leaking slightly (fluid level is slightly below what it should be). I'm thinking it'll only need a new resovoir and potentially low pressure hose? Photos are attached for this. I saw that Amazon sells some - is it better to go OEM, as good as OEM, or Chinese and save some money.

Thanks

I hesitated making this post just due to the anger that has been brewing inside of me for the past few days.

The booing of Uncle Ray Minniecon when he gave a perfectly reasonable welcome to country is the epitemy of racism and white nationalism in this country. How hard is it for rich white men to understand that blackfellas were here first, and they have an enduring connection to the land that white man will never have. The land that indigenous Australians fought for long before the first world war. To be honest it is a disgrace that ANZAC day isn't more related to aboriginals, whose ancestors fought long and hard for this land against white man.

When white society will comprehend the trauma and tension of life as an indigenous person at times - the subtle racism, strange looks, and the instant judgements - I don't know. This booing gives me no hope for the future of indigenous people (the rightful owners of this country) in this land.
