I love the G10

Ahh sorry for dumping photos here everyday since Thursday, I'm just a really big fan of how this little camera handles. It drains battery quicker than my G6, but it's worth it.

Photo #3 uses the "Sunset" filter (fake autumn vibes filter lol), photo #6 uses the "Retro" filter, the rest use the "Warm Colors" filter. No edits to the colors/contrast/etc. but I did straighten two of the photos slightly.

Morning walk with the G10

Yeah okay I like it a lot more than the G6! Sure the G6 has a nice crappy touch to it that feels super retro, but I like taking photos with bits of sky, or shadows and backlit subjects and the G6 isn't quite able to do that (or at least mine can't). I'll still be carrying it on my bag because it's super cute but my main toy cam is probably gonna be the G10, even after I get the other cameras I ordered the other day xD I've been using it at waist level a ton (basically every horizontal shot I take has been shot waist-level) and that's all thanks to the twisty camera module.

All shots here were taken using the Warm Colors filter and are completely SOOC aside from rotating!

G10 filter cheat sheet + some shots

Got to try out my G10 after work! I went for a walk with my dog, then came back and just had to make a comparison cheat sheet for myself. Figured I could share it here! I didn't put the "Embossed" filter since it's not something I'd ever use though. The names for the filters are the official ones as found in the camera menu.

Filters used are Low Saturation for #4, Retro for #10, and Warm Colors for the rest.

Got my G10!

After what feels like months (but was only really a few weeks, although the last mile carrier was dogs***), I finally got it... in the middle of my work day 😅 Can't really play with it from the confines of my office, so I'll try giving it a go after work and tomorrow morning.

First pic just to give a size comparison with the G6! And yeah I got the kitties, they were too cute to pass up.

Film camera mode dump - Nostalgic Neg

That was a fun one. A lot of walking this week, which led me to more photos in various areas versus my usual spots that can get repetitive. Only edit was slight cropping on some of these.

Next film I'm loading up is Expired film (Red). Haven't really used that one since autumn, so that's gonna feel very different! Part of me is terrified to miss shots because of it, as if I didn't have like six other cameras plus my phone xD

Challenge #2: Something Broken - Left Behind

Ngl I almost took a self-portrait for that challenge because aren't we all a little broken inside? But I preferred not having my face out there so here we are.

This was taken today (film mode photo dump incoming after this) when my trip to Quebec City got cancelled and I requested something to replace it lol

Film camera mode - Nostalgic Neg - No grain - "f/5.6 and be there" mentality, where I just use my camera in aperture priority mode, set the aperture to f/5.6, set manual focus at around 2.5m to be on the safe side, and just go hyperfocal-ish. Overthink the composition, not the settings.

Walk in the park

We were supposed to go to a city about two hours and a half away by car today, but that didn't happen, so I requested a photo walk instead 😂

Anyone tried the G13?

I've only just gotten the G6 and I'm still waiting for the G10... and now there's a G13 apparently! Has anyone tried it or is it too new still?

Walk with the G6

It's hard to stay motivated to shoot when you live in a quiet residential area with just houses and not much else, but this little path is always fun to go to.

That kind of morning

Nobody in the house (except the dog) was ready to get up this morning lol

Fairy lights test - Defective G6

Went shopping this morning and of course I had both my regular and defective G6 cameras with me. I saw these little lights at the store and decided to give the weird bokeh on the defective one a go, just for Science Reasons. I actually quite like it 😂

Shots with G6 Thumb Camera

Non-defective edition! I know, the defective one with "bokeh" caused by the misaligned lens/sensor/both grew on me too, but I do enjoy composing without always having to throw the subject to the far end of the frame 😂 Not to worry though! The defective G6 has obtained a permanent spot on my bag in case I see something that would work well with it during a walk.

Filters used here are uhh... 6 down arrows (the orange filter) and 13 down arrows (the high contrast black and white). As you might already know, they don't have real names, I just go with how many presses of the up/down buttons I need to do before reaching them when starting from the default no-filter state.

Challenge #1: Shadow Play - Behind the curtain

Classic Neg - f/2.8 - 1/1000 - ISO 200 (-0.3ev)

After my wake-up morning walk, I came in to find this in my living room. I thought the water barometer's shadow overlapping with the barometer itself (the blue part) looked nice.

Latest 72-shot roll

Here are the keepers for my latest roll in Nostalgic Neg 😁Entirely shot with my waist-level viewfinder! It doesn't contain my shot for this week's theme though, I have another post incoming for that one (so, sorry for the slight spam 😅).

Town visit - Defective G6

It's definitely fun but my compositions are limited 😂 The hopefully non-scuffed one has arrived in my country, so I should have it soon!

Neighborhood walk - Defective G6

Still at it with my defective G6! We had a very nice sunset tonight, so I took the dog out for a walk and only brought the G6. It's still most definitely not a camera for all situations so I am looking forward to having one that's a little less scuffed, but it's forcing me to look in a different way than I would normally since it's like 70% blurry 😂

u/Own_Royal2752 — 12 days ago

Defective G6 - Foggy morning

That blurriness almost looks intentional 😂 Almost. All of my compositions need to have the subject to the faaaar end of the frame though ideally 😂 But it's definitely growing on me, especially for shots like the bench one.

Went on a walk with my new toy

Absolutely in love with this beautiful little tool by u/Independent-Air-80 ! I don't know if I was your last order but if so, thank you so, so much for it!

Captured nothing spectacular today, but I had a very nice walk and didn't feel the need to pull the camera up to my eye at all (which would require me to take my glasses off to frame somewhat accurately).

And yes, the vertical shot was also framed using the finder xD Filter used was Dog Days.

u/Own_Royal2752 — 16 days ago

Dog Days is still my favorite filter, and why I like the V105 so much. Only edit was square cropping on some of these, nothing else.

u/Own_Royal2752 — 17 days ago

Just finished my first roll using my waist-level viewfinder! All of the photos here were taken while framing with it. Mild straightening after that because I'm still getting used to it and can't place the horizon straight to save my life.

I had a blast using it with the X half ngl, it made a lot of shots much easier to frame without taking my glasses off. I really need to start using it with the X70, which is what I bought it for at first.
