Rejected by Vodafone after "multiple rounds of interviews"... that I never actually attended?
Hey everyone,
I'm honestly just baffled right now and looking for some perspective or at least a place to vent about the absolute state of modern hiring.
I applied for a role at Vodafone one month ago. After a while they reached out requesting some additional personal details/documentation to proceed with my application. I sent the info over.
After which ,I received a standard rejection email. The kicker? The email explicitly says:
"After multiple rounds of interviews, we have decided not to move forward with your application. It was truly great meeting you and getting to know you..."
Here's the catch: I never attended a single interview. No phone screen, no Zoom call, no in-person meeting. Absolutely nothing. I literally just sent them the requested info and got ghosted straight into a "nice meeting you" rejection.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is their automated ATS (Applicant Tracking System) just completely broken, or should I be worried about identity theft/a phishing scam? (I'm currently double-checking the sender's domain to be safe).
What would you guys do? Just laugh it off, or actually reply to HR and point out that we've never actually met?
