What Core-Book Troika Background is most fun to play?

I'm almost always sitting GM-side, but I had a pair of Vengeful Children in my last campaign, and I think it's my favourite background now.

Any experiences with Ross's Rifles?

I've picked it up at conventions a few times. It looks interesting, but I can't quite bring myself to pull the trigger on it. Does anyone have an opinion or experience? It looks a bit like something an ambitious social studies teacher might spring on a small class.

What age did you start playing TTRPGs? If you have kids, how old were they the first time you played a TTRPG with them?

I think I was around six or seven. A teenage family friend ran me through a simplified B/X-y dungeon with a giant lizard chained to a pillar and a midden room full of rot grubs. I was hooked, of course. Now I'm a parent, and I'm wondering how soon I can introduce my kids to the hobby. What's the consensus? What's the best game to start with?

What's the longest Pariah/Mothership/'one-shot-system' Campaign you (or anyone) has run?

I love love love Pariah, but I've also never run a campaign of it that felt like it wanted to keep running after four sessions. I saw from Luke Gearing's play report that his Pariah campaign didn't last much longer than mine. I also see people talking about how Mothership is 'only good for one shots' (though I'm into double digits with my Android Yes-Bot).

It got me wondering, how far has anyone really taken these systems? So please, share your Mothership high scores, tell me how long you lasted as a Pariah, or tell me about how you took a system that seemed short-term and made it go long.

WW2 Commando TTRPGs - What've you played? What's good?

See title. I've recently been running a B/X-derived Commando game for some friends. My buddy mentioned playing Recon as a kid, but I understand that's Vietnam-based? Have you ever played a campaign like this? How did it go?

I'm also interested in 'Weird-War' games as well. I'm aware of Eat the Reich, but haven't played it; my impression is that people maybe liked the aesthetic more than the mechanics.

Weird West RPGs - Are you a fan of the genre? What attracts you to it? If not, what about it disinterests you?

Obviously, Deadlands is the standard bearer for this little corner of our hobby, but I see Frontier Scum getting a lot of love these days. Have you played either? Something else? What did you like? Or if you didn't like it, what made you bounce off?
