Penny the weed hunter.
Can anyone identify this plant? Penny seeks out these weeds all the time. She won't touch fruits and veggies, but this grass (?) is somehow amazing. 🙃
Mother, I approve of this new water bowl.
I am building a water feature and have been cycling the water for more than a month. It's working great, so I can start to decorate with plants and fish.
Then Penny decides to drink from it yesterday. She last drank from it when I started cycling and haven't touched it since. I got perfect parameters when I tested the water several days ago. I guess she got the memo and deemed the water quality excellent for her tastes.
No fish will go in there now!
Penny found shade and refused to move.
She has been people watching (dog watching?) from her shade. There's 2 other dogs playing fetch and she just plopped herself down in a comfy spot to lounge and spy. This was after her "brutal" 20 minute hike in the shady forest. The life of a Newf.
Part-Newf, part-mole.
There's a heatwave right now, and Penny decided the best way to cool down is to dig herself a hole and half bury herself. She spent 10 mins making sure it was comfy enough, removing rocks and sticks, then planted her butt down. Bonus for the cold cement foundation. The sun never hits this spot of the house and she is loving it.
Black Bear caught pooping on our driveway.
It is active bear season, and we caught this bear on camera evacuating his bowels. Ugh.
Edit: the mildly annoying part is having to clean it up. 🤦♀️
Double bass pedal tips?
I have been trying to strengthen my left leg afflicted by sciatica! It got pretty weak, so is quite laggy when I am tired. It gets very tingly and gets distracting after a while, ugh.
Apart from playing with my left foot more to overcome the weakness, is there anything else I can do with my foot and leg that could improve technique? I attached a video to show my beginner prowess lol
Thank you!
Black Bear in my NOT lawn.
This is the brush beside our house that I am slowly clearing. The fallen logs are basically the boundary and then it's our closest neighbor. We live in a forest, mostly 2nd growth Douglas fir and western redcedar. A strong windstorm 2 years ago fell a lot of the trees, thus the many snags. There was an increase in bugs, slugs and overall birds the first year after said catastrophe. The 2nd year, I was seeing big mushrooms on the snags. There has been a tremendous increase in bumblebees. We have noxious weeds that are trying to take over the old trees, so I am weeding by hand. I love the ferns, moss and lichen so much! (F you, English Ivy!) Definitely no lawn on this property.
Penny is not amused.
My son brought home so much festive stuff from kindergarten graduation and decided to upgrade Penny's style. The dog was not amused, but a piece of BBQ pork was enough of a bribe to keep her still(ish).
Heatwave Newf.
Penny found the darkest, coldest part of the house… basement stairs. Preservation of dignity has long been forgotten. I check if she’s alive from time to time.
By the way, she constantly reminds me that she needs a bath by plopping her body in front of the AC/fan vents. I don’t think bottling the scent and calling them “Newf Flewf” would sell.
She’s in full bloom!
There’s so many bees. I wasn’t sure if I should build a bee hotel to help them, but I’m so scared to ruin the ecology or introduce disease. 😱 Gotta pull so many weeds…
Dry snoot product recs?
Penny's nose is a bit dry, and it is casting a shade on her fabulousness.
A trio of puffs.
My chubby Spotted Congo Puffs begging for more food. 🙄
The Flight of the Corys.
I just did a water change and stirred up a lot of debris, forgive the not-so-clear water.
Trying out middle hi hat.
First part of Deftones’ Sextape that I’m practicing. 3 months since starting my drumming journey, so please forgive the lag as my brain thinks 😂 My shoulder also enjoys my new ride placement.
Moved my hi hat in the middle.
I got fed up hitting my hand or the other stick when I move from the hi hat to the snare. I tried adjusting the throne, every angle the hi hat can make, adjusting the snare height, moved them closer and farther together, but have not had any luck. I am liking this arrangement so far! Fingers crossed it works out because it apparently hurts when you hit your own hand instead of the target. 😂
Clumsy Crayfish.
5 gallon Blackwater CPO jar. They are not the most graceful of creatures.
