Does anyone else feel bad for the woman when you see a couple together?

After finally escaping years of lost life in relationships with men, I no longer view relationships as something to aspire to. Every man I’ve ever dated was not who he presented himself as, so during the good times, they were basically just playing me for a fool.

As a result, I feel sorry when I see women in relationships. I wonder what they are dealing with behind closed doors, what parts of themselves they are sacrificing, and what they are believing that they will later find out was never true.

Quit my job today

I quit my job today. Finally. I fantasized for almost a year about all the things I’d say on the day I’d put in my notice. I was yelled at, treated like a second class citizen as the only female leader in IT, and put on a performance plan for completely fabricated reasons. I had to get an employment lawyer and file a sexual discrimination claim.

But then on the day when I finally had a job lined up and I was able to quit…the day just happened like any other day. I just didn’t care enough about a failing team under a failing leader to even tell them how bad they failed me. I just said I got a better offer, and this is the day I’ll be leaving.

Why do we do this to ourselves? Quitting a toxic job feels a lot like letting go of a toxic relationship. When it really is over, there is nothing left to say.
