Just started thinking about grad school and I'm realizing I might be a bit late to the game. I want to try and get into an MSW program right out of undergrad but am worried I won't have the time to build up a ton of experience. If anybody could share how much experience they had (and what kind) and their GPA that got them into the MSW Two Year Program at U of T that would greatly appreciated! Any other feedback or advice is also welcomed, thank you so much :)
I'm thinking of applying to MSW programs after graduation but am a little unsure of my chances when it comes to actually getting in. I have a little bit of relevant experience (mental health group facilitating, volunteering at a hospital specialized in mental health) but I don't think it's enough for a strong application. For a little context, I'll be applying to schools in Ontario. Any advice, feedback, and personal experience is appreciated greatly :)
Years ago, I read a fic on fanfiction.net that was set post-Civil War and followed Natasha, Steve, Wanda, and eventually Peter on the run from presumably Ross. I wished I remembered more of the plot but Wanda got an abortion (after getting pregnant from the abuse she experienced on the Raft) in the fic and they end up in Wakanda at some point, I'm pretty sure at the end of the story. I thought it was Just Keep Running by Rubylarkspur2002 but I don't think it is anymore since rereading it. Any help would be amazing! Thanks :)
As I've gotten older, I've noticed more and more that my mom is actually just homophobic (and racist), and I don't know if I'm just being too sensitive when I think about going no-contact with her because her comments just make me feel so bad. My own sexuality is not something I think about too much or feel the need to label, though I don't think I'm straight (this is a whole thing surrounding the concept of being "queer enough" that I've been reflecitng on). Even if I ever did decide to label my sexuality, "coming out" is something I know I will not be doing to my mom. And I guess that just makes me feel slightly devastated.
For further context, my mom immigrated as a single mom to a toddler (me) and has worked her butt off for me to be where I am today. I am endlessly greatful for everything she has done, and truly, everything I am today is because of her hard work. We also don't have an amazing relationship, or at least I don't think so. I'm only 20, so I don't know if it's just that I'm not mature enough to understand the nuances of mother-daughter relationships (or maybe I haven't fully shed the "teenage phase"), but I feel as though I am always walking around eggshells around her, trying to keep things conflict-free between the two of us. My mom is not someone who owns her actions. All of my attemps during high school to try and explain that some of the things she says and does hurt my feelings turned into arguments where I was the "villain", that nobody else's daughter treats their mom like this, and that if I were capable, I would just leave home and then I wouldn't have to "deal with her".
So now I don't bring anything that she does that hurts me up, and that makes me really sad. I'm working on accepting that I am never going to get an apology from her.
Obviously, everything is so much more complex than what I can fit into this. I'm not asking if I'm the asshole here or if she is, honestly we both probably are, but I feel like I've done everything I can to make this a healthy relationship and I don't know if that's true. I feel guilty for thinking about going no-contact with my mom because I know she believes that she has only every done what's in my best interest, but it's so hard to not be heard and I don't know how much more of this I can take.
I guess that was more of a vent than a question. Take care everyone. :)
