Personal sign up bonus and Business sign up bonus

Hi all,

I'm new to AMEX. Just approved for a personal credit card with a sign up bonus. I'm curious, if I decide later to sign up for a Business AMEX will I get a separate sign up bonus? Or am I already considered an "existing customer"?

I have an ABN and am a sole trader.

Thx

Travel Insurance Recommendations

Australian here. Travelling to Japan to ski in Feb 2027.

I'm looking for recommendations for travel insurance. We are pretty sensible skiiers and only ski the marked runs. Interested to hear from anyone who had a good experience with an insurer who were reasonable and covered a claim.

Thanks

Quickest way to get 30,000 points

What's the quickest way to get 30,000 points, without buying them? I know there's offers for credit cards, insurance, energy etc. but I'm asking about things that are faster than that.

Thanks!

Qantas Wine Voucher

I have a Qantas Wine Voucher from Points Club Plus. I have an upcoming delivery from a Wine Subscription. Is it possible to apply the voucher to the subscription order? If so, how?

Thanks

How do taxes get calculated on reward fares?

I'm looking at flying Australia to Europe in business next year using points. I am currently saving both QFF and VFF points, and have compared the fares.

I have noticed that Qantas (Emirates) seem to charge about $1800 in tax per person in each direction, meaning that on top of points I would pay well over $7,000 in taxes for 2 people return. When I look at Virgin Velocity Reward Seats (Qatar), it's a similar number of points but the taxes are about $700pp/flight, so only $3,000ish total.

Why the big difference?

Have you stayed in Niseko Prince Hotel Hirafutei?

Hi all,

I am looking at booking this hotel for next season. I am interested to hear from anyone who has stayed there.

In particular, if you stay in a room with a private onsen, is there an "onsen" smell in the room? How hot is the water in the onsen? Does it steam the room up?

Also, if walking down to Hirafu for dinner, how is the walk home to the hotel? Is it uphill? How difficult is it to navigate in the evening?

TIA

Can I link reward flights?

I booked QF19 SYD-MNL using points. We land at 5.30pm.

I then booked JL78 MNL-HND, also using points. It leaves at 11.30pm the same day.

Is it worth contacting Qantas to see if they can link the flights onto a single itinerary? If I do that, will our bags be checked the whole way to Japan?

If I can't link the itinerary, will I need to exit through customs in Manila and recheck the bags? I asumme 6 hours is plenty, but I haven't ever been to that airport.

The flights are business and I am a Bronze QFF with PC+, if that makes any difference.

Best deal for QFF points on Broadband

I currently have NBN with Origin Broadband and pay $59/month for 25/10 (which was the best deal at the time, despite them having a better special offer now). My discount period expires in a month and I received EDR points at signup, which I converted to QFF points.

What's the best deal for QFF points out there on Broadband? We are not heavy users and happy with a low plan.

If anyone is aware of any special offers that require buying gift cards and converting them, or whatever sneaky tricks you clever folks have uncovered, I'd love to hear about them.

Considering Everyday Extras - what do you think?

I get that it offers 10% off once per month, so it can pay for itself. That's good.

What I am really after is points, which I convert to QFF points.

I was getting great EDR bonus points offers and boosting to get thousands of points for every shop. That dried up in February. I read that you should stop spending at WW to encourage "win-back" offers, but to no avail. I check each week and the offers have been rubbish.

I have heard that some people who join Everyday Extras end up with less bonus point offers after joining. I'd love to hear from people who have noticed a change, better or worse, after joining.

Any tips appreciated.
