What could be causing this weird problem? (Mamiya rb67)

This has happened in three rolls over the last year. The first time I thought it was a factory problem of the film itself. But after happening two more times I begin to think it's not.
The camera used was a Mamiya RB67. It has never happened with color film, only BW (always Ilford film). Can it be a problem of the back or the dark slide? It doesn't look like a shutter problem to me. The lenses are clean too.

Have you seen this before? I'm really puzzled.

I've been seeing this type of edit a lot

And I love it. I think i can tell most of what's going on but I'm unable to take my images to this aesthetic. I'm thinking of crushed whites, deep blacks with negative clarity/dehaze, cool blues, orange shadows... what else am I missing?

If anybody knows of a tutorial that delves into this sort of post-processing, please share.

How are you making money from online print sales?

I see photographers saying they make passive income by selling prints to guests on online galleries, but I don't understand how. I assume photographs are available to download by anyone who has access to the gallery, and being so, why wouldn't a guest take the files to a print shop (or even print them at home) and get the physical image way cheaper. Most customers/guests are not worried about print quality, so it's something they can get done basically anywhere.

The only possibility I can think of is watermarking the images and having people pay to remove and download/print, but that seems very tacky and outdated.

Also, I know lots of people use Pic-Time because of the arrangements they have with local print shops. In my country (Portugal) they only work with one shop and it's on the pricier side, so I'm wondering how are people outside big markets like the US are handling this part of the business.

"In the summer before 9/11, I slept with my boots on where I could"

Anyone has an interpretation of this ELUCID line from Pommelhorse? It has always puzzled me.

How does one achieve the “Sentimental Value” look?

So lately I’ve become really invested in trying to reverse-engineer an image and understand the steps that make a certain look what it is. It’s fascinating that even today, when the world is saturated with images and it feels like everything has already been done, we still come across visuals with a truly distinct signature. The work of Joachim Trier is a great example of that, particularly his latest film, Sentimental Value.

I understand that many elements contribute to the visual style — set design, for example, and even the cold quality of Nordic light — but I’m wondering whether this look could be achieved by me as well.

Now, I know the film was shot on film stock, but I’m interested in the possibility of replicating it digitally. That has become my personal quest, especially since shooting on color film is becoming financially out of reach. Tools like Filmbox and Film Unlimited are getting quite close, but I’m actually thinking more in the context of photography, which in any case offers more latitude for tweaking RAW images.

There are a few things I can identify confidently: bluish highlights, desaturated greens with low luminance… but whenever I try applying those settings, the result feels flat and lifeless.

Does anyone have any hints on how to get closer?

How good does my lens have to be for High Res Mode?

I'm working with a S5ii and got an upcoming job where I'll be shooting non-moving objects on a tripod. My first thought was to use High Resolution Mode where the camera basically takes several shots of the same scene and merges them.

It's a pretty cool feature, but I know it can backfire if used with lenses that are not sharp enough to render that much resolution/color depth. My question is, how good does a lens have to be? Ideally I'd have a premium lens to do the comparison, but I don't so I was looking for opinions of anyone who has more experience working with high resolution sensors.

Here's a list of my most used lenses:

- Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L (first generation)
- Canon 50mm f/1.8 IS USM
- Samyang 14mm f/2.8
- Canon FD 35-105mm f/3.5 Macro

These are all adapted with a Sigma MC-21 adapter.

I'm caught in DCTL hell - Tatcher Freeman

So I started do delve a bit into DCTL's and went ahead with some suggestions mentioned in this sub. One of the packages I've installed was Tatcher Freeman's, the others being PixelTools free DCTLs and OpenDisplayTransform.

All of a sudden I have a list of 150+ DCTLs and I'm feeling completely lost. So I want to ask which Tatcher Freeman's resource do you really end up using. This is by far the largest package. Do you recommend installing the whole rhing as I did? I was mostly thinking about relying on DCTLs to have better tools for subtractive saturation, CST, and utility DCTLs for false color/middle gray.

I'm thinking about purchasing Juan Melara's FilmUnlimited or Filmbox Looks soon, so I'm even discarding film emulation DCTL's, tho I installed Henry Bobeck's Technicolor Pallette out of curiosity.
