Recent Hanover Broadway experiences?

Hello! I’ve scoured this sub and read all the posts about downtown Oakland high rise apartments. There’s some good info, but I have questions for anyone who has recent experience living at the Hanover Broadway.

I’ve been using Sonic at my current place, but they’re not available in Hanover. I want to avoid Xfinity, Verizon, etc. like the plague, and would prefer a local provider. It seems like MonkeyBrains is available at Hanover, but I have no experience with that service, speed, reliability, etc. Does anyone have direct experience with MonkeyBrains, or insight into any other local service providers in the area?

If anyone has any other recent experiences at Hanover, I’m all ears. I expect apartment complexes like these to raise rent with every renewal, but how extreme are the increases? A reasonable 2-3%, or do they hit the Oakland max of 7% each year?

FWIW, I also have my eyes on The Grand, but I’m admittedly swooned by the amenities and apartment features at Hanover.

Little Paw

I said goodbye to my best friend a couple months ago and I'm finding different ways to express this heavy heavy grief. I stitched her little scruffy paw. 💔

Uneven top after burning

Hello fellow candlemakers. I'm a casual hobbiest, making candles just for my own burning pleasure, so never pressure myself to get things perfect. I get creative with the containers, and enjoy experimenting with fragrances. I otherwise keep things simple, the same soy 464 wax, don't use colors or molds, don't pre-heat containers or smooth any rough tops. I let things cure for at least a few weeks, and am usually still disappointed with a better cold throw than hot. Oh well.

My question for you all today is why would a candle have a nice and smooth top after pouring/curing, but get rough after burning? The candle in the attached photo was almost perfect before I lit it for the first time. Why might this happen only after the wax re-melts and re-solidifies?

Edit: Oops, this is Golden Brands 464, not 494.

Prep for Brazilian

How common (or uncommon) is it for a clinic to offer some level of shaving? The whole reason I want to do this is that I'm terrible at shaving. I can do most of it myself beforehand, but I've never been able to get absolutely everything. Any kind of help with the nook and crannies, I would happily pay extra for. What are others experience with this?

Free dog food

Hello, my dog recently passed away and I'm looking to give away her leftover [opened] dog food. Shelters will not take open bags of food. I would prefer to give it to a rescue organization., but will happily drop it off for anyone who has a furry friend who will appreciate it.

I have a 22 lb bag of Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Sweet Potato & Venison kibble, and a 1 lb bag of Macanna freeze dried salmon. Both bags are nearly full.

CHF recovery & extreme lethargy

Hi everyone. Like many of you, I'm dealing with CHF in my 14 year old and looking for advice, or if anyone has experienced something similar.

She was diagnosed with a minor heart murmur a couple of years ago, but we've been monitoring it. Less than a year ago, she had a chest x-ray and all looked fine. Last weekend she developed a hacking cough, no other CHF signs (breathing normal, energy normal). I took her in, and a new x-ray showed CHF and fluid in her lungs. She stayed at the vet for the day, they gave her IV diuretics and monitored her. This was 6 days ago.

She recovered from the CHF event and went home at the end of the day with Vetmed and Lasix. In terms of CHF, she seems fine. Her cough is gone, her respiratory rate is around 20 (although it was never high).

However, she is extremely lethargic like I've never seen her before, and she has zero interest in food (but will still take high value treats). She went in for a follow-up appointment 2 days ago and they said physiologically she looks fine, gums are fine, no crackling in her lungs, seemed hydrated. They halved the dose of Lasix in case that's causing the lethargy, and went home with Cerenia for any nausea she may be feeling. But her eating and energy are still crap.

Giving her the meds has been a challenge, she'll take it cream cheese once, then doesn't want to look at cream cheese again. She stumbles a little when walking, and we're carrying her up and down the stairs. She just seems out of it, she'll stand in place, head dropped, just staring into space.

My mom tells me that a CHF event is exhausting and she is probably still recovering. I hope that's the case and I just need to nurse her back to a "new normal" with CHF. But, at least right now, with how lethargic she is, it's not a life I want for her.

I grew up with parents who kept our dogs alive longer than they should have. I've seen my childhood dogs suffer and age in a way I promised my Sadie she never would. I am beyond devastated, but ready to make that call, I just don't know how long to wait to see if she snaps out of this.

I've heard dogs bounce back to normal after their CHF treatment, and that's just not what's happening here.
