Story in the news about kid with heart defects

Not sure if this fits childfree.

There is a couple in the news who want a kid. They hired a surrogate. Testing showed the kid has a bad heart. Couple asked surrogate to abort. The surrogate went to Texas. Ken paxton is now demanding the courts force the surrogate to stay in Texas and saying legal action will be taken so the baby isn't denied heart surgery.

Now this is where I think issues for us childfree people come in.

If someone does not want to be a parent and chooses to relinquish theirrights, are we going to have courts step in and say we have to parent anyway?

The couple wants out and i am sure Ken paxton wants them to be responsible for the surgeries and any other care the baby needs.

I doubt it will not be the surrogate taking in the kid and paying the bills, cause the surrogate is a single mom with 2 kids. She is getting sued by the couple and has complained about financial difficulty.

[Spoiler] question about li zhi's health problems

What illness did li zhi have? Could he have had tuberculosis?

We see him coughing and blood drips out or his mouth at one point.

I read on Wikipedia the real li zhi had headaches and seizures and it was thought to be stroke or hypertension.

If I remember the game said sickness ran in his family.

Do you think wu was secretly poisoning him?

Freelancer saw my childfree postings and got upset, I ended up having to get a refund

I just had to cancel a commission I was looking forward to.

After I had paid for the commission the artist went onto my fb page and started commenting on public posts. She was not on my fb friends list.

The posts that really seemed to get under her skin were ones where I complained about kids and celebrated my childfree life. She said it was mean I got a family ejected from a movie because their kiddo was making too much noise. When I would email her with questions about the commission she was very cold.

I think she got curious about me, checked my fb page and decided she didn't like me because childfree.

I didn't have any trouble getting my refund but the whole situation sucks. This was someone who is very hard to get a commission from and I was excited about it.

[Discussion] need advice. Artist acting colder after accepting commission.

I am currently commissioning a very talented person. Paid a downpayment and am on their wait list.

Since the commission was accepted artist has reacted to my posts or comments on sites like fb. For example, "I wouldn't have complained and gotten a family kicked out of the movie when their kids were loud. That is so mean.'' "I think you should have replied to her instead of blocking right away". I am starting to feel like I am being judged and they are not comfortable with who I am.

Have also noticed her reply to commission emails becoming more abrasive. For example, I asked her which costume she wanted to paint on my character and her reply was, "ok."

She is acting positive and engaged with other people.

It might also be relevant to add, I don't have her friended on social media. She goes to where I hang out and I was surprised to see her comment. I also don't have any political or religious posts.

What would you advise I do? Should I cancel the commission or hope she won't let her feelings affect the quality of the commission? Am I reading too much into this?

Kids ruining art commissions

I enjoy commissioning artists but kids can really ruin the fun.

I have had to turn several artists down because I found out they were minors and they werent updront about their age. Why is that a problem, you ask? Because minors can't enter into contracts. If I pay an artist and they are a kid, then it is gonna be harder to hold them accountable for anything going wrong.

These commissions can be expensive and i sometimes want to buy the rights. I can't license art from a kid.

I have also seen minors with very unprofessional commission rules. Like "no refunds". If you decide you can't finish a commission because school takes up all your time, I would like my money back please.

It has also made it harder to commission some awesome artists because they have been burned by kids using their parents' credit card without permission. The artists are afraid of chargebacks from mom and dad, so they ask customers to prove their age. They request i scan my drivers license or passport. No way am I doing that. That could lead to identity theft.

And then of course there is the fear of younger kids damaging beloved art pieces around the house. I have been lucky that no one has doodled on my favorite drawings or knocked something over but I know some day it is going to happen.

I hope to get back to commissioning soon.

But keep the kids away.

Ran into an unhappy mom from high school at a reunion

I had an annoying discussion with a person i used to go to school with at a reunion. This gal is extremely pro child. She told me that babies have a right to their parents and she is against people deciding they don't want to be in their kids' lives. She hates adoption and safe haven laws. She sees baby boxes as people noping out of being responsible and she thinks that no fault divorce is to cater to the childfree. So now she wants everyone to return to fault based divorce. And if things were still like the 1950s it would be wonderful because no one was anti child.

I just listened to her rant and counted sheep in my head.

She is a parent and seems mad she doesn't have a village looking after her 5+ hooligans

Hantavirus Cruise Passengers released from quarantine, Angela Perryman still under restrictions

It sounds like Angela perryman is still under order to remain in quarantine at Nebraska and wasn't one of the people allowed to return home on May 31st. I wonder what is going on with her.

Update: husband told his family no.

He said we can't take the kids with us. There was some pushback. He offered to throw a party at the beach and include them if we do the San Diego zoo. I don't think they are happy but it went better than it could have.

We have decided not to do sea world and will be staying at a hotel.

Was planning on a nice vacation to california. It would include doing fun stuff like attending San Diego Comic Con, a SeaWorld Vip tour and Balboa Park.

Well, now that trip has gone up in flames because family is pestering us to include their kids. They'd love to go to Sea world and see Shamu! Comic con sounds like so much fun. Oh, can you make costumes for them? It would be cute if you all cosplayed together.

No is not a word they understand and the guilt tripping is getting very annoying.

Hubby and I are tempted to skip "kid friendly activities" and do more adult oriented things instead. But that would suck because I really want to see seaworld and comic con
