Will my MIP arrest slow down my CCW applicaiton?

I am 22 and would like to apply for a CCW in Virginia but when I was 19 I got arrested and taken to jail for underage drinking. If it was just a citation I would know the answer is likely no it won't slow it down but I was actually taken to jail and held overnight. I was not formally convicted because I did a diversion program.

So will it slow it down?

Do you think abortion rights will ever be restored federally?

As a young woman in breaks my heart to see how there is no viable path to abortion rights being restored federally.

  1. An act of congress-GOP would reppeal it when they come to power.

  2. Court packing-GOP would pack themselves too.

  3. Ballot measures in red states-often lack support and the state legislatures will not let them happen in a lot of red states.

I just want to know do you think abortion rights will ever be restored federally?

How does the police determine whether to arrest or cite somebody for drinking under 21?

So when I was 19 I got arrested for drinking underage. Even though I was 100% cooperative, didn't have a fake ID, wasn't very drunk and was with my boyfriend who did don't drink and with whom I was staying at a motel. I got taken to jail and had to spend the night.

My question is why? How is it determined if an arrest or a citation will be made? What could've caused me to be arrested instead of cited?

Why is Nigel Farage so popular in the UK?

So I am from the US and as far as I know Nigel Farage's party is currently leading the polls in the UK and I have to ask WHY?

Aren't the people in the UK seeing the news from the US and what Trump is doing how can you vote for his good friend?

I know that reddit is very left wing so most people here arent't Farage voters but I still want to know what caused his rise?

What happens in the Balkans if you are caught drinking under 18? Is it really as common and unenforced as the stereotypes online say?

So in the US where I am from if you are caught drinking under 18 they will likely take you to the police department or the juvenile holding faciltiy and call your parents.

If you are 18, 19 or 20 in 90% of cases you will get a citation with a court date.

But in rare cases you can get arrested (that has happened to me). If that happens you will be taken to the county jail and will either be released in a few hours if they grant you a pre set bond (more common) or if they don't grant a pre set bond you can be held until a judge can set a bond which has to happen within 24-48 hours (less common). This has actually happened to me when I was 19. I got arrested and spent the night in jail for drinking at 19.

Either way you will have a court date some time later and in most cases will be granted a diversion program in exchange for the charges being dropped and you avoiding a record. You do some communtiy service and pay a fine and that's it.

What would happen in your countries. I did hear the stereotypes of drinking under 18 being normal and unenforced in the Balkans but are they true? When I was in Croatia last week I did not get asked for ID once despite being very young.

I should add that while US laws on drinking under 21 can be strict, a large majority of people do drink under 21 especially in college and most never get caught.

Do you believe that the US incarceration rate is too high?

US has one of the highest incarceration rates in the world. Its at cca 500 per 100k while most of Europe is at like 100 per 100k.

For example when I was 19 a few years ago I was arrested, taken to jail and held there until the next day when a judge released me for underage drinking. I was not rowdy, I was not very dunk, I didn't lie about my name or have a fake id, the cops just decided to go tough on me. In the end I got a diversion program in exchange for not getting a record. But the forced arrest and the night in jail is one of many examples why our incarceration rate is so high.

Do you think it needs to be lowered?

My experience in Zadar

So I am leaving Zadar today after a week-long vacation and here are my impressions:

Positive:

  1. Safety: Superb, as a 22 year old solo female traveler I felt very safe both during the day and during the night. DC metro area is not nearly as safe despite being one of the most policed areas in the world.
  2. Sea: Warm, clean, excellent.
  3. Foord: Superb. Cevapi, Ajvar, Pizza, Tuna s blitve, Crni rishoto, fritole wow phenomenal.
  4. Hospitality: Superb, everyone was nice and friendly.
  5. Landmarks: The old town is majestic.

Negative:

  1. Prices: While I do live in one of the most expensive areas of the US (DC metro area), the prices still surprised me. I never felt scammed but it was more pricey that I'd expected.
  2. Too much graffiti.
  3. Traffic. Finidng parking was a bit hard and I also didn't like all the electric scooters flying around the sidewalks.

Overall I'd rate my experience as a solid 8/10. A great city and I'll likely come back.

How do officers decide if schedule bond is granted or if you need to wait for court?

How do officers decide if schedule bond is granted or if you need to wait for court?

So I was arrested for an MIP in Indiana a few years back when I was 19 (I live in Virginia) and even though I was 100% cooperative and didn't fight or lie I was still held overnight until a judge saw me.

I wanna know how does jail staff determine if you can bond out right away or have to wait for a judge? It was 4 pm when I was arrested so why did they hold me knowing it'd be like 20 hours in jail.

Is there any way to remove my mugshot from the internet?

State: Indiana

So I am from Virginia but in 2020 when I was 19 I got busted for MIP in Indiana and if you google my name you can find my mugshot and I want it taken down. Is there any legal avenue for this or am I stuck?

I did get my charges dismissed with a diversion program so I am safe on most background checks but I still have my mugshot and charges pop up when you google me. Is there any way to delete them?

Why is Croatian/Zadar pizza so good?

So I arrived to Zadar 2 days ago and decided to try the local pizza and WOW. I was blown away. Croatian pizza is SO GOOD. It is better than the pizza I had in Italy and better than the pizza I had back home in the US.

What is the secret there is something about it that I cannot point to.

I tried pizza in Spain, Italy, NoVa (where I live in DC metro area), New York, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, Baton Rouge, Spokane and Virginia Beach and Croatian one is the best ever.

Was I actually supposed to cheer for SPOILER ALERT in the end?

>!Was I actually supposed to cheer for Beth during the kitchen fight? While I did like her chaos character at first, later she became worse and worse. For me the breaking point was her threatening to take away Jamie's kid, that's when she crossed the line for me and she just seemed so evil. She became unlikeable and insufferable, she attacked Jamie for impeaching John who litteraly would plunge Montana into bankruptcy just to save a ranch that was going to be lost eventually. Don't get me wrong, Jamie is not a saint either but in the end I felt like Beth was the bigger evil. Am I the only one who thinks that? And to be clear I would have preferd if both of them died, both of them were toxic. The only Dutton who was good was Kaycee.!<

Would I be seen as partially Brazilian or as 100% American in Brazil?

So I was born in the US, my parents were born in the US and all 4 of my grandparents were born in the US. My surname is of German-brazilian origin. I personally feel 100% American.

On my moms side I have distant European heritage and they've been living in the US since early 1800s but on my dad's side 6/8 of my great great grandparents were born in Brazil but moved to the US as very young children. I have a bit of a darker skin tone than a white person but I also don't really look like a full on latina I guess I look like a light skinned latina or a dark skinned white person.

I have never been to Brazil nor have my parents. (Although I plan on visiting this fall).

So would I be seen as 100% American or as partially Brazilian? Do people in Brazil even track their ancestry like Americans?

How far do most Croatian people expect the Croatian Football Team to go in the 2026 World Cup?

So while I am an American I do love the Croatian soccer team, my ex boyfriend was Croatian and I was daiting him in late 2022 and early 2023 so I grew to love the Croatian team after having watched the Vatreni win the 3rd place with my then bf in 2022.

So now I have a question, how far do most Croats expect Croatia to go? Are you optimistic or pessimistic. I am very optimistic so I expect another semi-final.

What do people in Croatia think?

I would love for the US to got far but I also doubt we have the strenght or quality to go farther than the round of 16.

Visiting Zadar a few questions?

So I am gonna be going to Zadar this summer solo and I have a few questions:

  1. Are cards accepted in most stores, cafes and restaurants or should I carry cash?
  2. How easy is it to find a place that will exchange my USD to euros?
  3. As a young woman how safe is it?
  4. Is English widely spoken?
  5. Can I buy a temporary tourist phone plan so I can use my phone without massive costs of roaming?
  6. What are some local foods I should try?
  7. Is walking around in athleisure seen as socially unacceptable? I heard Americans dress much more casually than Europeans but am not sure.
  8. Do I need to tip? I saw conflicting information online.
  9. Is it legal to drink alcohol in public or on the beaches?

Could you give Washington DC voting rights by making a large part of it a part of Maryland?

So as far as I know the residents of DC do not have senators or representatives because it's not a state but a federal district.

My question is, could a congress simply pass a law to make most of DC part of Maryland except for the areas where gov buildings are? Would that be constitutional?

And if it were legal, would the central part of DC that remains still have electoral votes for the president?

Also could you do the same but instead of giving it to Maryland make it a 51st state?

How is self-defense proven in scenarios where lethal force is used if there's no video evidence?

So let's say a woman is walking home and is attacked by a man, he has no weapons he just starts beating her up. There are no cameras or witnesses. She pulls out her gun and shoots him once he got her on the floor and started beating her up. She has only a few scratches but no serious injury as she shot before she got seriously injured.

How can she prove that she truly acted in self defense?

Is she likely to end up in jail?

As a 22 year old woman who is thinking of getting a CCW, this is one major fear I have, how to prove my self defense really was self defense if there is no clear evidence?
