Hi everyone, as the title says, I cannot move my advance film lever of my Pentax spotmatic f. Earlier while capturing it got jammed, so I opened the back and manually pull the lever.& Put some homeoil, so it works for sometimes, but it's jammed harder, I realized I shouldn't have used that home oil as it was thick. Do you know how to fix this? Please let me know if you have solution.

I am working on an Asahi Pentax Spotmatic F and ran into a cascading mechanical jam. I would really appreciate some insight on how to completely reset the cycle.

Here is the timeline of what happened:

The Initial Jam: The reflex mirror originally got stuck in the fully upward position mid-exposure, locking up the top film advance lever.

The Mistake: I removed the bottom baseplate and manually pushed the mirror release lever sideways to get the mirror to drop. Hoping to lubricate the tight mechanism, I unfortunately made the classic rookie mistake of putting heavy household oil on the bottom gears and linkages.

The Current Jam: The camera fired for a few shots, but then the thick household oil migrated deeper into the mechanism and slowed down the shutter curtains. The camera is now stuck "halfway" through an exposure cycle.

The reflex mirror is currently in the down position.

The shutter button can be pressed down, but the top film advance lever remains completely locked solid and cannot advance.

Current Status & Cleanup:

I have already removed the film roll.

I used 70% Isopropyl Alcohol (Medicare) with a spray and Q-tips to thoroughly clean and flush out the heavy household oil from the bottom plate gears to dissolve the sticky slurry.

On the bottom plate, I managed to snap the small black timing arm with the spring wire back up and to the right so it rests inside the inner notch of the silver L-shaped lever.

However, the brass gear train on the bottom left feels locked tight under tension, and the shutter curtains are parked out of view (the vertical lath metal strip is already fully over to the right side).

The top advance reel is still completely locked. Since the household oil got inside the shafts, what is the best way to safely release the mechanical brake/latch on the gear train without stripping the teeth, and completely flush the rest of this residue out?

Any advice or specific teardown steps would be a massive help. Thank you!
