I am making my first full perfume formula and I have 3 accords that I am pretty happy with to this point, each of which has around 5 materials. The problem I am having is that when i mix in the perfume I cant really separate any of the smells and it just turns into a very heavy and messy mix even with the little amount of materials i am using. Any tips on it?
How long should I wait till I make my first full perfume formula? Ive been studying since the beginning of 2026 and Im pretty confident on my authoral accords (although they are pretty minimalistic) but I don’t know if i should wait more or if i should just go for my first full formulation.
I was looking for suggestions on horror books that are not set on our universe. I don’t really mean heavy worldbuilding or stuff like that, just some more futuristic, fantasy leaning or just horror books with interesting settings. I’m sure there are some great ones and I’m just not being able to think of any. Would really appreciate if someone had suggestions to share.

I’m a beginner in perfumery and have been experimenting on different materials. I recently tried a 10% dilution of Verymoss (evernyl, veramoss, whatever u wanna call it) to find out I don’t really smell any moss or even green facets to it. For me it is just a powdery, phenolic and slightly sweet material. Anyone relates or am I going crazy?

Have recently been thinking of starting a project related to a blood or maybe meaty accord, but I have been having some difficulty formulating an accord for that. So if someone could help me with suggestions or ideas for a blood note or maybe a fantasy "murder accord", I would really appreciate.

When I formulate an accord is it best to make it “vertically” (thinking about top, middle and base notes) or “horizontally” (an exclusively top or base accord)?
