Amazing experience at Maybe Happy Ending thanks to an amazing Usher!

I just got back from Maybe Happy Ending, and while the show was great as ever (2nd time I see it, love the new Oliver! Darren Kriss would be proud), my experience was even better thanks for an amazing, kind usher.

I was fourth row Mez right, which was a decent seat, but it was two minutes before the show start and half of row A mezz was empty. The lady behind me and her friend asked if they can change their seats, he said yes but they do have late seating policy and might ask them to go back. I turned around and asked him if I can change my seat too, he told me the same thing

We did! The three of us moved to row A and had better seats. Needless to say no one showed up. At the end of the show I went up and thanked him, he really could have told us No, and no one would blame him, but he was so kind and laid back, and had the most positive vibe!

Theater etiquette: Moulin Rouge

So yesterday the theater gods smiled at me as I snagged a last minute ticket to Moulin Rouge, seen it before but wanted to say goodbye. I was lucky to get row C smack center, which is front row orchestra (right in front of the T shaped cat walk). It was an amazing seat! Sensory overload and I loved it.

To my left were tourists, to my right were locals. Three songs into the show the tourist couples started singing. I ignored it at first but then looked their way, they got the hint and stopped.

Now, after intermission, just when the lights are dimmer, I see a bright screen to my right, I was like ok maybe a quick text... But it stayed on. It was extremely distracting and frankly disrespectful to the performers on the stage! And guess what? THE LADY WAS GOOGLING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SHOW! it kept going on for what seemed to be a minute. I waited for a moment when the actors were away from us and I nicely leaned over and asked her to turn it off

To her credit, she did turn it off and put it in her pocket, but ,,, in what world is googling in the middle of a show a thing? Right there, 2 feet from the actors?

I had to say something! I hope I didn't make her feel uncomfortable but it didn't feel right to just stay quiet.

So in the time israel made headlines for tear-gasing Palestinian kids protesting illegal Israeli settlers blocking their schools:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/apr/13/israeli-forces-fire-teargas-at-schoolchildren-holding-west-bank-sit-in

The board of education approves 'israel day' , on OUR TAX FUNDED HIGH SCHOOL PROPERTY! This Sunday , mother's day, WTF?

Why? I know we are not supposed to discuss this and keep it local, but why are they shoving israel in our face? In our high school?
