One Year, 80 lbs+ Down ⬇️ Strength Training, Calorie Deficit, and Protein.

I started my journey at 330 lbs last July. Growing up, I struggled with my weight and diet for as long as I can remember, but last year was the first time I felt the clarity I needed to live more and become a better version of myself after my friend passed away from cancer.

As of this morning, I weighed 246 lbs. Obviously, this isn’t over, and I hope to make it a lifelong habit. :)

I used to eat at an extreme deficit (which wasn’t healthy). My RMR was sitting around 1,800 kcal when I was 330 lbs, and I would eat around ~1,300 kcal while doing strength training and cardio. I realized that wasn’t the way to go because I ended up losing muscle mass, so now I eat more on my training days—around 1,800–2,800 kcal with about 130–180 g of protein, depending on my training intensity.
My muscle mass retention isn’t perfect, but maintaining close to the amount I had when I was 330 lbs is a pretty big success, I would say!

Edit: And I can lift more now!! My linear leg press went from 180 lbs to 390 lbs (4x12)!! Starting out I could barely lift 30 lbs with my two hands. Now I carry two 44 lbs kettlebells around the gym!! :))

Another edit: If it helps anyone, here are my trainings—

Upper Body —

Barbell bicep curls, 50 lbs, 5 sets, 8 reps.
Standing skull crusher (one dumbbell, both arms), 30 lbs, 5 sets, 15 reps.
Iso-lateral chest/back, 60 lbs + 7 lbs from machine (38.5 lbs each side), 4 sets, 12 reps.
Pectoral fly (machine), 90 lbs, 5 sets, 12 reps.
Rear deltoid (machine), 55 lbs, 3 sets, 12 reps.
Lateral shoulder raise (machine), 50 lbs, 4 sets, 12 reps.
Assisted dip, ~138 lbs, 3 sets, 8 reps
Farmer carry, 88 lbs kettlebells (44 lbs on each side), around the gym three times.
(Trying to work on core more now with abs crunch machine)

Lower Body —

Linear or 45 degrees leg press, 388 lbs, 4 sets, 12 reps.
Smith machine squat, 100 lbs, 5 sets, 12 reps.
Seated calf raises, 155 lbs, 5 sets, 15 reps.
Hip abductor, 135 lbs, 5 sets, 20 reps.
Hip adductor, 80 lbs, 5 sets, 15 reps.

Then I like to walk btw 9-12% incline on 2.0 mph+ for 1-2 hours depending on how I feel that day.
