Monitor recommendation thread! What did you choose instead of a Dough Spectrum monitor?
Hey everyone, it's been two weeks since control of the subreddit has transferred. There have been a few posts since then asking about monitors, but I'd like to know: What did you buy when Eve/Dough and Bi-Search International came up short and did not meet their fulfillment obligations?
Tell us what monitor you bought, what functionality was important enough to you to push you toward it, what you don't like about it, and how much it cost! This might be a helpful barometer for fellow Redditors who are still looking for something that's just right for them.
New Flairs for Posts
Hey All,
Following up on the pinned post from two days ago, I'm looking to start creating new flairs for posts and at some point might make it required so that way people who come here for legitimate technical support from the community might have a better way to filter posts that are helpful and not venting.
Having said that (and at the risk of sounding like the company we loathe so much by asking), what kind of post flairs would you want to see included here? Currently there are plans for the following:
-Vent
-Community Technical Support
-Other
The first two seem to be the most common posts we see here, but I don't want to get too incredibly restrictive. Please pitch some ideas!
Edit: Corrected spacing issue.
Question about term for repetitive musical progression at the end of a song
There are a few longer songs I like where the end of the song tends to repeat for minutes at a time toward the end, continuing to gradually build up as it repeats.
A few examples:
[Harmonium - Un Musicien Parmi Tant D Autres](https://youtu.be/MiIVmWJ05kk?t=170)
[Hooray for Earth - Something Strong](https://youtu.be/JTm0M8tLGqw?t=285)
I’ve seen it referred to as ostinato and vamp, but wasn’t 100% confident in the answers I found.
Can you listen to these and confirm, or correct me if what I found was wrong? Song links begin at the relevant sections.
New Flairs for Users
I'm currently going through the backlog of the moderation queue and dealing with things that automoderation unfairly flagged under the previous moderation team.
In the meantime, I'm creating new flairs for users who haven't been completely driven off. Two of these will be as follows:
- Silenced by Dough - Either in red or gray. Only for people who were previously permanently filtered and silenced by the automoderator.
- Never Received My Monitor - Blue.
Looking for suggestions on other user flairs we can implement (funny or serious), including ones for people who weren't completely ripped off.
Edit: Several new flairs have been added and assigned where appropriate or requested.
Subreddit Moderation Updates - 05/29/2026
Hey Everyone,
The ability to moderate this subreddit has been removed from the original Eve/Dough and Bi-Search International users. Due to their established history as unreliable narrators and scammers, their accounts have now been added to the automoderation list. They may also be permanently banned in the coming days if they can't come here and offer an honest, compelling reason why they shouldn't be (though I'm not holding my breath on that).
I've updated automoderator to remove the following and posted it here as a measure of transparency to show exactly what key words and accounts were being flagged by Eve/Dough and Bi-Search International:
title: [scam, refund, support, warranty, fuck, shitty, fucking, steal, thief, thieves, scammed, scammer, scammers, stole, money] action: remove action_reason: "Spam Account Detected"

What this means:
If you were previously scammed by Eve/Dough and Bi-Search International, you're welcome to post or comment about it now on this subreddit. I might post a megathread for this if it gets too out of hand to manage, but for the time being I'd like restore some activity to this subreddit, even if it means warning off other potential buyers who find their way here randomly or via the dough.tech website.
If you're one of the lucky few out of the sea of scammed users who did manage to get ahold of a monitor and you need community tech support, you can post here.
What this doesn't mean:
As I am not a member of Eve/Dough or Bi-Search International (and have also been scammed by them myself), I am not able to offer any updates on status/fulfillment of orders.
If a user posts here looking for technical support regarding firmware or hardware issues, I'm unable to fix those.
If a user posts here looking for technical support, please don't spam up their thread with comments about having never received your order; they're just another person who managed to get luckier than us and we shouldn't isolate or ostracize those that did receive their orders because of sour grapes.
Since maintaining a community for a product where 99% of us never received it is likely going to be difficult, I welcome suggestions for content. Also, If you have good dough/pie recipes or content, you can post those here as well; they do contain dough, after all.
Edit: Updated post to change all references to "BSI" to "Bi-Search International" for clarity and transparency.
Lucky Memorial Day Haul
Wife and I stopped by a store on the way to her father’s house for a joint Memorial Day/birthday gathering and these were on sale; Hakushu 12 was marked down from $159.99 to $129.99 and Yamazaki 12 was marked down from $169.99 to $129.99.
