Looking for wired second-screen options

My old drawing display has finally given up, and I was thinking a good replacement might be a tablet that can double as a second monitor for my desktop. Two birds with one stone.

The problem is that most of the options I've come across seem to rely on a shared network connection. That might work fine most of the time, but I'd rather not risk losing my connection in the middle of a project if the internet drops out. Ideally, I'd like a tablet that can also connect directly to my desktop via cable.

What options are available for that kind of setup?

[China] How do I refuse Ministerial appointments?

I'm having a lot of fun being a bureaucrat in China, but I set myself the goal of becoming Emperor because why not.

I worked out how to pass all my exams easily, how to climb the ladder, and make my way from Count, to Duke, to King, to Minister pretty regularly.

But the problem is, the only way to become Emperor is under these circumstances:

  1. Be of King tier
  2. Let Dynastic cycle tip over into Division
  3. Conquer everyone else
  4. Profit

The problem is with that very first step. By the time I've gotten to Grade 2 Merit I'm making so much merit monthly that I quickly shoot into Grade 1 and get shunted up to a landless Minister.

Thinking I was clever, I decided not to let my hair go for the Imperial exam and just stay on level 4, while I pushed the Dynastic cycle and gave him candidate score as Minister. That way I could inherit a Kingdom. The problem then is that everyone in levels 1-3 goes ahead of me in line!

You have to be so lucky to gain a Kingdom and stay in it during the tiny window where the tick over to Division occurs. Is there another way that I'm missing? Is it possible to cap my Grade at level 2?

edit: I did set it to "refuse further appointments" but the game seems to ignore that.
