Shooting the Ad before Pitching

In a world where scripts, schedules, treatments and pitch decks are no longer enough, is it foolish to just go ahead and shoot the dang thing?

Is shooting before pitching a bad thing if you have an idea?

Happy to hear your thoughts depending on small to massive budget ranges as well.

Is this standard for shooting “content” in NYC?

Screenshots from a social media manager in NYC. I understand that “not looking for professional” is a classic red flag. I’m just not familiar with “content” rates.

Free NYC Rooftop locations

Does anybody know of any free rooftop locations for a photoshoot in NYC? I’ve checked around with my contacts and can’t get one.

Hey guys, I’ve been doing photography for a couple years in NYC and was wondering what rates to set for events/ portraits mostly. I’ve heard a massive range here and looking for constructive thoughts. Here’s a link to my work.

Hey, I’m currently assisting a couple very seasoned commercial photographers in NYC (20+ years) and always hear a huge range of assistant rates. I’m not gonna say what my rate is but am curious what the expected correlation between PA rate and PA experience is in NYC now for commercial work.

I know things are very different now than they used to be but just want to hear everyone’s general thoughts considering the changes over the last several years.
