I've spent a lot of time doing research into building a PC and I've come up with this parts list for a machine that will be able to run DaVinci Resolve and fusion smoothly. Gaming is a secondary priority.

I'm not too familiar with the motherboard, CPU cooling, case and PSU - I'll happily take suggestions on alternatives.

I've focused on components that will enable me to run fusion smoothly without overspending and, to be honest, I think £2000 for a PC is the farthest I'm willing to go.

I am aware of the memory shortage and I'm willing to pay current prices.

As for my situation, I'm on a gap year before uni and I want to take YouTube content creation seriously, but I don't have anything powerful enough to edit videos (I'm not going to use capcut on a low end laptop).

So please review the list and point out any flaws, offer up any alternatives and critique it in any way.

I have no experience with PCs or content creation, but I have a gap year ahead of me and I want to make lots of YouTube videos.

I'm going to use the free version of DaVinci Resolve and hopefully work in fusion as well. I want something that can work smoothly so that I'm not wrestling with hardware when editing.

If it helps, I'm going to produce video essay voiceovers that could be longer than an hour, as well as IRL videos that will be shorter.

In terms of the PC itself, I'm considering a budget between £1000 and £1700, up to £2000 if need be. I currently lack the peripherals (mic, keyboard, monitor, headphones) for which I don't need anything fancy, but enough to get the job done.

The country of purchase is the UK.

I want to start content creation with both video essays and educational content (on separate channels) and I'm hoping to get a laptop not a PC, as I'll likely be travelling a fair amount.

Without any concept of how my channels will or will not grow, I am hesitant to spend too much money, so I've been considering a MacBook Max at around £1000. However, I'm open to any suggestions or insights as there may be other factors I haven't considered such as long term support.

I'm primarily a Windows and android user so I'm open to anything.

Basic question, I know, but I'm not too concerned about the whole filming process as much as I am with storage and video editing.

Right now, I have a HP 15s-fq2016sa for video editing and my goal is to create videos that could end up lasting about an hour. (My phone is a Redmi 10)

So I've been anxiously scouring the internet for PC builds because I'm worried the laptop's CPU and storage capacity won't be enough for my videos.

Also, if I do need a PC, should I get it prebuilt or purchase the components on my own? I don't have any experience building a PC and it would be dreadful to break something whilst I'm trying to put it together.
