✨✨ The Important Stuff ✨✨
Barbie Looks Model #24 (Simone face sculpt), rebodied onto an unknown (no product code stamped) Model Muse body.
✨✨ My Nonsense ✨✨
I decided that if I wanted to display my Looks dolls, I should treat them the exact opposite way I treat my non-Made-to-Move dolls.
I own doubles of all my Looks dolls, either for customization or just to use as body donors because I prefer almost all my dolls to be on articulated bodies.
But, I also really love the look of the line as a whole. So, I decided to take those duplicate heads and match them as closely as I could to the Model Muse bodies in my "spare parts" bin (the ones sitting around after I took their heads for other projects).
Now, I have my duplicate Looks ladies dressed and displayed on these bodies, and I honestly love it so much. It feels great to maximize my collection this way. I get to display these dolls instead of leaving them in boxes after being "cannibalized" for parts. Since I paid for them just the same, they deserve to be out! Haha
How do you play/display? Are you a body purist? Do you rotate your collection, and what do you do with your extra parts?

I love the pattern on the skirt that came with Princess of Imperial Russia doll but I couldn't find a way to make it work in it's original shape.
So I cut high slits up both sides on the interior fold of the pleat then taped the folds back inward and steamed the edges to get a crisp line.
The top is from one of Ariel's live action sister dolls.
She's perfect and I love her!!

Angel Reese Barbie doll, eponymous face sculpt, restyled.
✨✨ My Nonsense ✨✨
I decided to restyle Angel as part of my "party girls" group for two reasons: one, because she’s gorgeous and I couldn’t wait to freestyle her; and two, I had an odd number of dolls, and the idea of taking potential group shots like that made my eye twitch. And here we are.
I had a lot of fun with this one!
My favorite bits are the asymmetry of her legs, the charm in her hair, the heart-shaped belly button gem, the crystal nose ring, the black-tipped nails, and I absolutely couldn’t resist finally using the Mini Fashions basketball purse. I mean, if anyone is gonna pull it off!
A friend is asking who she is but I can't find her on fashiondollz.
Thanks dolls!

Barbie Basics You Create deluxe kit no. 3, Minh face sculpt, restyled and rooted.
✨✨ My Nonsense ✨✨
Minh is my favorite face from the first round of You Create kits by a long shot.
I was immediately in love the moment I saw her Erin Parsons blue liner (look it up!! 🤩) and when I saw she had a wig to match it was all over for those other dolls.
I was looking for outfits for the other girls when I found this jacket and knew Minh was the only girl for the job so she was added to the Party Girl roster.
I decided to photograph her in the wig (which I cut into a fun "scene" type style) , without, and with the head I rooted with hair because I'm as indecisive as I am greedy!

✨✨ My Nonsense ✨✨
My favorite Crystal face was half dressed in that top for like 2 weeks while I tried to find the right bottom. I had an idea in mind and wouldn't deviate from it no matter how many times I tried and it didn't work.
I wish I would learn to get out of my own way earlier.
Anyway, I'm happy with the look, particularly how the volume of the skirt mirrors the volume of her hair.

This was the first doll I had dressed and the catalyst for the rest of this group of restyles. She's one of my favorites reroots and I'm happy to finally show her off. Clearly I'm obsessed with gingers in green cus it's like the fifth time I've paired them for restyles.
She came in yesterday and I love her so much!!! Super excited to restyle her!

Barbie 65th Anniversary doll, closed-mouth Brooklyn face sculpt, restyled and partially rerooted.
✨✨ My Nonsense ✨✨
I shared a quick pic of the new holiday Brooklyn doll yesterday because she has skyrocketed to my number-one Brooklyn face. That said, 65th-anniversary Brooklyn sits only millimeters below that.
If I remember correctly, she was the first closed-mouth Brooklyn we got, and while I can appreciate that, a lot of people would have preferred a more classic screening. I absolutely love the face they gave this girl (and her Millie counterpart).
It's so fun and full of life that I thought she would be perfect for my party girls project, and I really think I made the right choice.
If you're interested, I shared a post a couple of years ago about how I rerooted her hair into cornrows.https://www.reddit.com/r/Barbie/s/x4eUKvKyJz
✨✨ The Important Stuff ✨✨
2026 Holiday Brooklyn doll, closed mouth Brooklyn sculpt.
She's rebodied onto the BarbieStyle Brooklyn in the cream dress.
✨✨ My Nonsense ✨✨
I'm committed to waiting for the others to go on sale but I NEEDED 2026 Holiday Brooklyn as soon as I saw her!!
She's hands down the most beautiful Brooklyn in my collection and I can't wait to get another to customize!!
I removed the bow from the dress (super easy!! Just a couple threads to cut!) and swapped her earrings for the pic.
While still nowhere near the level of quality we used to get, the dress is moving in the right direction. The fabric feels like fabric instead of plastic and the bodice is really pretty.
Are you picking up any of the holiday dolls?

This lovely lady came to me pre loved and with her hair already cut awkwardly to her shoulders. I fully intended on rerooting her but as I often do when I'm prepping for a reroot a try out short hair cuts just to see. Looks terrible? Cool, I just proceed as planned.
But every so often I make the cut and it just works. This is absolutely one of those times! I'm obsessed with how chic this haircut is on her.
I also love the way the two tops create a kind of cut out on her back. 💜

✨✨ My Nonsense ✨✨
I hit a creativity drought so intense it took six days just to partially dress six dolls for this project, which is something that usually comes together so much faster.
It happens sometimes after finishing a big project and immediately starting another. Even though I know the next concept I want and have an idea of what I want the overall vibe to be, I’m completely tapped out of whatever it is that actually does the thing.
And despite knowing better, I try to force the process, which only makes the block worse.
Then my stupid ADHD complicates things even more. I'll fixate on wanting to get this new idea done but can’t actually follow through, yet I can’t easily pivot to another activity because my brain is stuck on this task. I do a lot of standing and pacing. 😑
After finally forcing myself to walk away for a couple of days, I managed to get most of the dolls dressed. I’m hoping I can keep the momentum going long enough to finish photographing the rest of them, but honestly, even eking out these poses was a challenge. So send me some creative vibes if you can spare any. 😆💚😊🫶
The romper / jumper that comes on the Styled by Patti Wilson doll can be separated into shorts and tank without worrying about rough edges as both pieces were finished independently and then sewn together.
I used a seam ripper (small scissors would work, too) and just be sure to carefully only pick at the connective threads and you'll be left with two fully finished pieces.
Yaaaaaaay seperates!!! 🎉🥳

Did you pick up any of these dolls? Do you have a favorite? I'm absolutely in love with Teela. They did a wonderful job with the likeness, but more than that she's just a really gorgeous Barbie face. I'm excited to reroot her but am still debating on the choice. Any recommendations or pics of reroots you've done on her? Please share!!
✨✨ My Nonsense ✨✨
I added a few new faces to my collection, and I was excited to restyle and share them, but then... crickets. I just kind of stared at them for a long time, waiting for something to happen, for the creativity to kick in. But it just never came, and the more I tried to force it, the worse it got.
A good friend reminded me that lulls in creativity are normal and to give myself some grace. Not everything has to be the most or even my best; sometimes it's okay just to be.
In the end, I settled on something really simple: just summer shorts and T shirts.
✨✨ The Important Stuff ✨✨
I've recently had a few wonderful people ask me where I get my clothes for my restyles so I thought I would write up a short post and share the information with everyone because, and say it with me now, gatekeeping sucks.
And usually I am happy to reply to questions about a specific item or two but I'm far less likely to respond if you haven't acknowledged what I've shared.
So if this is your full comment:
"where's that dress from?"
It's pretty likely I'll ignore you, cus you know, I'm not an advertiser. Alright, let's get to it!
✨✨ My Nonsense ✨✨
I don't prefer to spend a lot on clothes. Most of my doll wardrobe is from whatever pieces come with the dolls Barbies I buy.
✨ Fashionistas/ Barbie Extra / Deluxe Style are usually great for random stuff on the cheap. I look for sperates more often than not. Far more styling options using a skirt and top vs just a dress. Etc
✨ Most of the nicer pieces I have come from older Rainbow High and Disney ily 4Ever dolls. Newer RH dolls aren't as great for clothes imo. Quality has gone down a bit but moreover where they used to give lots of separate pieces, now a lot of it is sewn together which is a bummer.
Older ILY dolls came with stylish clothing more inspired by characters which I really loved but lately everything is heavily branded with logos and characters etc. Which sadly makes it a bit too juvenile for my taste.
I've indicated in the first picture which items come from what line to give you an idea of how it comes together.
The fit isn't perfect for either but the quality is honestly leaps above what Mattel is putting out even in their collector dolls.
✨ RH runs small on regular MTM bodies. Think crop tops and Capri pants. Skirts are usually great. Outerwear is more hit than miss except the sleeves are always going to be too short. Petite bodies look pretty good in RH clothes.
Here's a pic (2) of petite Tamika wearing all RH stuff. The skirt is a RH dress (which is usually how that translation goes.)
✨ ily 4Ever clothes can run a little large but it's usually negligible or can be fixed by cinching etc. You can see a direct translation (no restyling) of how they look on Barbie bodies in pic 3.
If I recall, curvy Heidi's pants aren't closed in back.
✨ I have bought some great stuff from Ali Express. Literally search dolls clothes and you'll probably see a bunch of clothes you recognize from people's pics. Usually inexpensive. Fit can be inconsistent but for the price I'm not mad.
✨ Etsy can be really great for nicer or specialized items. Be sure to double check listed fitting.
M.Creations has been making beautiful clothes for years and I own several pieces including the top from pic 4.

Dollsydoll is great, too. https://www.etsy.com/shop/Dollsydoll
I hope any of that was helpful in any way. But if not drop a question for me and I'll do my best.
And hey, thanks for being interested in what I'm doing.

I'm really quite proud of these dolls so unless you're super sick of it all, I may post one more time with only the group shots back to back so you can see the whole collection together.
(Same as last time)
Since I ended my Teen Skipper project at the end of February, those dolls have remained dressed as they were for their shoot because I planned on trying a group shot after some time away from them.
I actually keep all of the dolls I photograph dressed as they were for their shoot while I work on the next several projects before returning the clothes to my wardrobe. This way, I don’t use the same clothes and accessories over and over.
It’s usually fine, and I actually enjoy the challenge it inherently provides, but this was a really big project. For the past six months, 26 of my favorite dolls have been wearing a lot of my favorite pieces, and it has left my styling options feeling limited.
After having taken a group shot of 20 dolls for the Basics Neutrals line, and knowing what a headache it was to organize it all, I decided to split the Skippers up into groups.
At first, I was worried about how I would decide which dolls get grouped, but when I looked at them all together, I was struck by the realization that I had essentially styled these dolls like they were meant to form little groups. Either that or I am seriously a one-trick pony, but I’m trying to be kind to myself.
I’m really happy with how the group shots turned out and how the girls look in their mini connect collections and I’m even happier that now I can take them all apart and redistribute their clothes so I don’t feel like I’m trying to style with one hand tied behind my back.
