Mosquito control.

Here's something creative.

I'm in the subtropics. It's hot and humid.

We have a lot of mosquitoes despite my local control measures.

After some careful research, I attached an old but reliable fan on the wall running on a wifi plug, so I can set the times.

Set to lowest speed, it blows a gentle current of air at about 1- 1.5m/s along the roost, enough to mess up mosquito flight.

Girls are ok with it. It's bloody hot tonight btw. You can see one holding her wings out to cool down.

*Yeah, can't really seal the coop.

South Bank

Great time of the year for an early visit to South Bank.

Going to be a little busier tomorrow night.

Bluetongues are active!

It's warming up here in SEQ and the resident bluetongues in my suburban garden are out and about.

This fella came into my little garden studio via the door, did a full circuit of the floor as I watched and left again.

When your hound barks...

When your big boy barks for about the third time ever and you look at him and think "was that you?!"

Dipper, there's a lot of feeling in that.

*This is a follow up to my post the other day when he was growling at an unusual person out front of our home.

We went straight back inside. He soon resumed couch potato status.

Unusual vocal behaviour.

Tonight I took my 5 year old boy Dipper out for his bedtime wee, same time, same place as always.

He saw a guy walking around our suburban street and responded with this (sound up)....I think I've heard him vocalise about 3 times in 3 years.

I wonder what was going on in his head? (Edit; nothing but circus tunes, someone here suggested)

I took him back inside straight away and he seemed extra alert for a while but quickly reverted to couch potato.

Molly and Cow

Miss Molly with her all time favourite, Cow.

She carries this stuffie everywhere, uses it as a pillow (this is how I often find her) and never ever damages it.

Beach hound

Molly, possibly contemplating writing some bleak poetry as she stares into the storm.

*Probably actually thinking about pooping or biscuits.

Two for one phone retro trip...

Back when we kept one of these in the wallet, plus a bonus reminder of when we switched to universal 8 digit phone numbers.

Well, three if you consider these were the days when we had to pay for public phones....

*Note the efficiency on that card, every hole punched.
