Hi, clearing up some misconceptions as a Kashmiri.
- Vast majority of Kashmiris (real Koshur people) inside the valley, do not consider you Kashmiris. And to be fair, an average Koshur person doesn’t even know what Gilgit Baltistan is. So please do not harbour any resentment against Kashmiris. I hope you get your provincial status soon and get fully integrated in Pakistan.
- I saw many comments on this sub that Kashmiri culture and language is closer to Punjabi culture???? I just want to say those 2 things canno be further from truth. Those are two total opposite ends in poles of cultures. You don’t have to find any cultural similarities with us but you also do not have to lie and forge some fake cultural relationship between Punjab and Kashmir. Kashmir (like Gilgit) was heavily isolated from mainland India/Pakistan up until 19th century barring some indirect contact in Pir Panjal range. I am more than happy to answer anything about oyr culture. Linguistically, it has some phylogenetic relationships with Shina, but Kashmiri is very different, different from all surrounding Indo Aryan languages.
- Kashmiris do NOT drink pink tea. We drink a salt tea (noon chai/sheer chai). Edit: And we also drink a Saffron green tea (Kahwe) poured from Samovor.
God bless you all. Wishing you best of luck in future.Sample sound text from Kashmiri language:
