FMC realizes she's the second option and that MMC loves another woman, so she gives up.

Looking for books where the FMC realizes the MMC still loves another woman and walks away

Hi everyone! I'm looking for books where the FMC realizes that the MMC still loves another woman and decides to walk away.

Honestly, it was really difficult to come up with a title that actually describes what I'm looking for, but recently I was reading a manhwa (Korean comic) and there was a scene where the FMC was dancing with a guy she was genuinely open to having something more with. However, while they were dancing, she noticed that he kept looking at another woman.

That's when the FMC realizes that, this whole time, she was always the second choice and that he was using her to try to forget the other woman, the one he actually loved.

Obviously, this was a huge emotional blow for her, so she distances herself and decides to leave everything behind.

And even though she doesn't end up with him in the manhwa, I genuinely thought: "Damn, I would read a 300-page book about this." 😂

So I decided to come to this sub, where you can find pretty much anything and there's always a kind soul willing to help. ❤️ I really love this sub.

So, here we go:

I'm looking for books where the FMC eventually realizes that the MMC still loves another woman, or that he's using her to get over the woman he actually loves, which makes her pull away. Then the MMC only realizes what a huge mistake he made after the FMC has already given up on him and moved on.

Here are a few examples of what I'm looking for:

First example: The FMC knows from the beginning that he likes another woman, but she falls in love with him anyway. Eventually, she becomes deeply disillusioned with him and realizes she can't keep putting herself through that, so she walks away.

Second example: The MMC uses the FMC to try to forget another woman, but the FMC doesn't know about it. When she eventually finds out the truth, she's emotionally devastated and decides to leave him.

Third example: The FMC decides to help the MMC win over another woman, but ends up falling in love with him herself. Eventually, she realizes that she's only hurting herself and decides to walk away.

Fourth example: The MMC is a widower who still loves and constantly thinks about his late wife. The FMC realizes that she'll never be able to make him love her more than he loved his wife, so she decides to move on.

A few important things: I REJECT CHEATING PLOTS. 😭

Also, I don't want the FMC to make her entire life revolve around the MMC. I want her to be strong despite everything and have some self-respect. She can suffer, be heartbroken, and even be emotionally devastated, but I don't want her spending the entire book humiliating herself over him.

Basically, I want the FMC to realize that she was never truly chosen, walk away and move on with her life, while the MMC realizes too late that he screwed up and that, in the end, she was actually the woman he truly wanted. 😭

The male lead is a totally obsessive yandere who craves the female lead's attention, but she is unaware of it.

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I apologize in advance for any mistakes since English isn’t my first language.

Anyway, I am DESPERATE to read a book with an obsessive MMC. I’m talking about something almost yandere-like, but not the kind we’re already tired of reading about. You know the type: everyone immediately notices that there’s something wrong with him. He’s cold and ruthless, approaches the FMC with that alpha-male attitude, and says things like, “You’re mine. No one touches you but me.”

I want something different.

I’m looking for a book where the MMC meets the FMC and becomes obsessed with her for a specific reason. It would be great if it wasn’t only because of her appearance. I want him to be genuinely good around her, but secretly capable of killing someone behind her back without her ever knowing.

For example, the MMC meets the FMC and becomes completely obsessed with her, but the FMC has absolutely no idea. As far as she knows, he’s just a normal guy. Maybe he pretends to be a good person around her, or maybe he really is a good person, but for the first time in his life, he develops this intense obsession with someone.

In the FMC’s eyes, he might be a genuinely nice guy. Meanwhile, in reality, he is so desperate for her attention that he could kill someone simply because he feels like they are taking her attention away from him.

I want an obsessive and needy MMC. I want him to need the FMC’s presence. I want him to want to be with her 24/7, forever. I want him to constantly want to hold her and be close to her. I want him to be completely and utterly desperate for her, while the FMC has absolutely no idea, at least in the beginning.

I’m looking for a book where, when the FMC discovers how obsessive he really is, or when she pulls away from him, he completely loses it. I want him to become desperate, get on his knees, and beg for her presence because he loves her in this deeply twisted, unhealthy way.

I guess this would fall under dark romance, right? 😂

Anyway, I once read a fanfic with a similar premise. It was one of those amateur fanfics, but the concept really caught my attention. It took place in a dystopian world where everyone had a kind of obsessive love toward their partner. The FMC, however, was born completely normal and didn’t have that tendency to love obsessively. She understood that the way everyone else loved was wrong, but pretended to be like them until several obsessive guys became interested in her. 🤭

I had so much fun reading it, and now I really want to find books with an MMC like that!

I do not want his obsession to involve physically hurting the FMC. I’m okay with morally questionable behavior, manipulation, stalking, killing other people, etc. I just don’t want him to physically harm her.

I’ll take any recommendations that are even remotely similar! 🥹

I can't relate to wealthy, privileged protagonists.

This can definitely be classified as a petty complaint, BUT it is what it is 😂 I simply can’t get into or force myself to read books where the FMC is rich and privileged from birth.

I’m not saying those stories are bad, but whenever I see a book where the FMC was born super rich and has had a life full of privilege and abundance, it all feels so far removed from my reality that I’m just sitting there thinking, “Okay, but what’s actually wrong with her?” 😂

Usually, in books like that, the author knows that readers might have a hard time relating to such a privileged FMC, so they try to balance it out by giving her some sad aspect of her life, like abusive parents, a lack of freedom, or something along those lines.

I don’t mind when the FMC becomes rich throughout the story, but when she was born rich? I just can’t connect with her, sorry 😂 I guess, at the end of the day, I prefer FMCs who are just regular people like us.

Anyway, I just made this post to see if anyone else feels the same way.

Eroticism is killing romance!

Literally what the title says: erotica is KILLING romance books. 😭

Okay, I'm not against a good spicy scene. I actually enjoy them! But as an avid reader who reads all kinds of genres, I feel like books are focusing way too much on the sexual content, and the plot is becoming the most boring and least extraordinary part of the story.

To me, a good intimate scene needs to be built up over time. It needs slow development. Sometimes, when I start a new romance, no matter the subgenre or trope, it feels like I accidentally picked up a book that's 100% erotica. There are sex scenes every few pages... and the plot? Boring, predictable, and just not good.

Come on, authors, let's be a little more creative and ease up on the spice for a while!!

FMC is part of the real world + LMC is a character from a book or something like that.

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a very specific type of book. 😅 I'm sure stories like this exist because I've come across synopses like them before, but at the time I wasn't interested in reading them... and now I totally regret it. 😂

I'm looking for books where the FMC is from the "real world," while the MMC belongs to a fantasy world. Here are a few examples to make it clearer:

Example 1: The FMC is a reader from the real world and somehow gets transported into a book, where she falls in love with one of the characters.

Example 2: The MMC is a character from a book, novel, fairy tale, or TV series and somehow ends up in the real world, where everything he has ever known is fictional.

Example 3: The FMC is transported to a fantasy world filled with magical creatures and supernatural elements, while nothing like that exists in her own world.

I'm happy to take any recommendations, but I'm especially looking for books similar to the first two examples. Thanks in advance!

MMC is a superstar + fmc is an ordinary person without fame.

Okay, so... I recently watched the Michael Jackson movie (did anyone else watch it and absolutely love it? 😭)

I already knew who he was, but I somehow became a fan overnight, and now I'm completely hyperfixated. And, as with every obsession I have, it eventually makes its way into my books... so yes, I went looking for fanfics. No judgment, please. 🤣

Now I'm looking for books where the MMC is a singer who's a genuine megastar. Like, ridiculously famous. The kind of celebrity who can't even walk down the street without being recognized. Bonus points if he's also a dancer, although I know I'm asking for a lot. 🫠

I'd love for the FMC to be just a regular, non-famous woman. It would be even better if there's drama with the fans once they find out they're together, with people criticizing his choice, invading her privacy, and all that chaos.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations! ❤️

Do you think Freddie was gay or bisexual?

My opinion is that he was bisexual with a greater interest in men, but he certainly felt a great romantic love for Mary.

u/Perspective_Nearby — 1 month ago

Freddie used to tell all his lovers that Mary was irreplaceable in his life.

Você acha que ele era gay ou bissexual? ((For the fans who defend him, I'm not saying his sexuality matters, man, it's just a post)

MMC is a single father, and his children dislike FMC from the start.

Hi, everyone!

I'm looking for books with this trope and I need as many recommendations as possible!

I'm looking for romances where the MMC is a busy single dad who doesn't have time for a relationship because his children are his main priority... at least until he meets the FMC and starts to fall for her.

The main thing I'm looking for is that the MMC's kids aren't toddlers or very young children. I'd prefer them to be older kids, preteens, teenagers, or even a mix of different ages.

Another thing I really want is for the kids not to like the FMC right away. I don't want her to be the "magic girl" that every child instantly adores. I want the kids to genuinely dislike her at first, maybe because they think she's trying to take their dad away from them, they're jealous, or for any other believable reason.

The most important part is seeing that relationship develop naturally. I want the FMC to slowly earn their trust and affection over time until she truly becomes part of the family.

If you know any books with this dynamic, please let me know! I'd really appreciate the recommendations.

MMC is a psychiatrist or someone very good at reading people, someone very intelligent + romance MF

Hello everyone!

I just finished reading Word of Honor by Tiana Laveen, and I absolutely LOVED the psychiatrist in the book, even though he wasn't the main character. 😆

He was so intelligent and charming. The author wrote him SO well. He wasn't the protagonist at all. He was simply the psychiatrist, and although he appeared throughout the story, he was far from being the main character.

Anyway, I'm not here to talk about him (even though I absolutely adored him). I'm looking for romance books where the MMC is a psychiatrist: someone who is incredibly intelligent, highly perceptive, and genuinely gifted at reading people.

When I say intelligent, I mean actually intelligent. I don't want the kind of character where the author keeps telling us he's a genius, but his actions and dialogue are completely ordinary. I want his intelligence to be shown through the writing, the way he thinks, the things he notices, the conversations he has, and how he solves problems.

At the end of the day, I think what I'm really looking for is a romance with a genius MMC. I just feel like a psychiatrist is more likely to fit the type of character I have in mind. That said, I'm also happy to take recommendations where the MMC has a different profession, as long as he's a true genius and the story actually demonstrates it.

Looking for Interracial Romance Books That Tackle Racism

Hello everyone! I'm looking for something very specific. 😅

After watching the movie Loving, which tells the true story of an interracial couple during a time of intense racism, I was left with that feeling of, "I want more!" Unfortunately, it's been really hard to find something similar, so I decided to ask for recommendations here.

I'm looking for books where the female main character is Black, mixed-race, Latina, or another woman of color, set during the era of racial segregation, shortly after it, or, more generally, during a time when racism was still deeply ingrained in society.

The male main character should be a white man, and I'd like the fact that they're an interracial couple to be an important part of the story. I want to see them facing prejudice, especially the FMC, and watching their love endure despite everything.

I'm also open to contemporary romances that explore the prejudice and challenges interracial couples still face today.

I'm new here and I'm looking for a reverse harem with a bit of MM.

Hello everyone! I'm looking for a reverse harem where the focus is 100% on the female main character (FMC). She's the loving glue that holds everyone together and is clearly the most important person in this polyamorous relationship. However, I'd also like there to be some male-male involvement (MM).

protagonists who have a magical instinct that will keep them safe 💀

I hate female protagonists who seem to validate everything based solely on their own instincts. I'm talking about those situations where everyone is warning them: "HE'S DANGEROUS!" or "THIS PLACE IS DANGEROUS!" People are dying, there are countless red flags everywhere, but the FMC gets this feeling of, "I know he's dangerous, but somehow I feel like he won't hurt me."

My God, this irritates me so much! Everyone says the MMC is dangerous, he clearly looks dangerous, but the protagonist's magical instincts tell her that he won't do anything to her? Girl, that's not intuition, that's stupidity.

The same goes for those extremely dangerous places where the FMC feels she'll be safe for some inexplicable reason. Seriously, it completely takes me out of the story. Instead of coming across as brave or special, she just looks like a complete idiot ignoring every possible warning sign. 😭

Which series was very successful in your country even though it was foreign?

Is there a program that was VERY successful in your country even though it wasn't made in your country? Here in Brazil, Chaves is a success even today, I was shocked when I discovered that it was only known to us Latin Americans

Do you care if your romantic partner is gifted or not?

I've seen quite a few posts and comments here about relationships, and it made me curious about something. I'm not trying to start a debate or argue for any particular viewpoint. I'd just like to hear about your experiences.

Do you care about a potential partner's IQ?

For example, do you feel the need to date someone who is also gifted or has a similar intellectual level to yours? Or is that not particularly important to you?

I've noticed that, for some people, finding someone on a similar intellectual level is very important for connection and mutual understanding. For others, compatibility in areas such as personality, values, interests, and life goals seems to matter much more.

What's your perspective? In a romantic relationship, is your partner's IQ something that matters to you, or not?

Where are the human female protagonists in supernatural romances?

I swear, I was looking for a paranormal romance book because I'm completely obsessed with this genre, and OMG, it was so hard to find a human FMC! 😭

All I could find were older books or stories I had already read. Nowadays, the FMC is always a mermaid, a hybrid, a fae, a vampire... NOOOO! 🥲

As the saying goes, sometimes the classic "bread and butter" works best! For me, paranormal romance is only truly enjoyable when the FMC is human. It's so much more interesting to see the cultural differences, with her trying to understand a world that's completely different from her own while the MMC isn't human. I also love the dynamic where she's physically weaker but still doing her best to survive and find her place in that world.

It's even better when she's suddenly thrown into this supernatural world with absolutely no idea what's going on. I just love that kind of story.

Unfortunately, it feels like these types of romances are disappearing, because nowadays I only see FMCs who are some kind of supernatural creature. Human FMCs seem to be getting rarer and rarer. 😭

What a tragedy...
