Now that it’s been a while I want to ask how everyone feels about the show on Prime. At the time when it first dropped it had some complaints (which is nothing new for this franchise) but now that it’s been sometime I want go back to the topic.

There are definitely a lot of pros to watching the show on Prime. I’ll go over some of the big ones for me. We finally get subtitles for season 1. With the exception of Queen Bee none of season 1 has proper English subtitles. They didn’t start doing this until partway through season 2. Even though they went back to add them for the early season 2 episodes they never did this for season 1. So having those are appreciated. Even if they aren’t perfect, more on that later.

We also get all swear words uncensored which is the biggest benefit in my opinion. One thing I never even noticed before my Prime binge was in episode 3 Blitzø says fuck and it’s censored by car honk. I never realized that was intentionally censored. I guess it was the whole first 30 second rule. But aside from that we also get all C-bombs uncensored. This makes watching Spring Broken, Mammon, Mastermind, and especially Western Energy way better on Prime. Other than that I didn’t really notice any dialogue changes.

The animation changes can be a good or bad thing depending on who you ask. As far as I can tell most of these changes are in the first season. Going back to select shots to make them more on model. You can argue it’s changing art on principle and erasing the hard work of the original animators. I’m kinda middle of the road on this topic. If I had the choose I’d rather they didn’t go back and change alot of shots. But when actually watching it doesn’t bother me that much and there are some changes I like. In Murder Family Millie is present in more shots which is a nice touch. In Harvest Moon they added more in between frames in the scene where Wally and Stolas are on stage making it look way less choppy. They didn’t fix the Moxxie Millie bed scene unfortunately. When it launched there was a problem in Ozzie’s where they forgot to green screen Stolas’ cape but thankfully that’s been fixed.

Now to get into the things that bother me. While I like the subtitles being added in there’s an issue that’s present throughout the whole series. They spell Blitzø name like “Blitzo” without the slash in the O. On YouTube the subtitles make more sense. When someone pronounces the O it’s “Blitzo” when they don’t they say “Blitzø” the credits also have the slash. This gets weird when you see the in scene cast list they actually spell it correctly with the slash so I don’t see why the subtitles can’t. There’s also the problem where things that are not said in English are not translated. On YouTube when Fizzarolli is singing in Italian or Vasago is talking to Andrealphus they have the English translation in the subtitles. But on Prime that’s not the case. And I don’t really see why.

Then there’s the other side of the censorship coin. Where alot of the sexual imagery is unblurred. I’m of the opinion this makes them less funny. To use an example from another show in The Office (UK) there’s a scene where the characters are playing with a “giant inflatable cock” and it was blurred. But there does exist footage of it uncensored and I found it way less funny. For me the humor was seeing a giant blur bounce all over the place. Leaving your brain to connect the dots on how it must look. But when you actually see it for me it kinda falls flat. And that’s basically how I feel here. I never really found the dicks in wall joke all that funny but I thought the point of the joke was seeing all these blurs everywhere. The show does do this kinda humor with Stolas acting horny and there’s just bleep after bleep. But all that said it’s not even consistent. In Mission Zero there’s a part where a dick is drawn on paper and it’s blurred out and the Dragon Driller in Full Moon is also censored. It be one thing if it was all uncensored but the fact that these aren’t makes it weirdly inconsistent.

Then there’s one change that’s just baffling. They changed the background music during the fight in Truth Seekers and it’s way less impactful now. The original incorporated the characters themes but in the Prime version it doesn’t. And I can’t really think of a reason why they would do this.

So those are the main differences I noticed. Overall I guess I prefer watching the show Prime. If only cause I pay for no ads whereas I don’t have YouTube Premium. But this still feels like a Star Wars special edition thing where it has changes that nobody asked for that cancel out the improvements. I’m definitely gonna stick with Prime when it comes to episodes like Harvest Moon Festival and Western Energy. But other episodes like Truth Seekers and Exes and Oohs I’ll prefer on YouTube.

For months I’ve had issues with turning the screen to landscape mode and it flips upside down. Has this happened to anybody else cause it’s driving me insane

I’m modifying my setup to have my laptop outside of my recording booth so the no fan noise gets picked up. My interface is a Audient iD4 which uses type c to type c. I was thinking of using a USB-C extension cable to run it from my booth to my laptop. Is that a good idea or would it cause problem with the interface power?
