Instinct sensor

I have seen a few members here saying they put the instinct sensor on other parts of their bodies other than back of the arm. I was thinking of trying this but can't decide where it would be best. Your thoughts?

Oh, I asked my endocrinologist who said the only approved location was back of the arm.

Well I screwed up

I had dinner about an hour ago. I ate 127 carbs and took 12 units of insulin, ratio is 1:5. I knew it wasn't taking enough, it should have been 25.4 units but my pump was almost out so I thought I would do a shot for the remainder (13.4 units).

Well I got busy doing dinner dishes and remembered I had to take another shot so I loaded up 67 into the needle and in it went. What I forgot was that was the number of carbs NOT the amount of insulin. It should have only been 13.4. So now I have 57 more units of insulin than I need and to balance it i need to eat 287 carbs before I go to bed in 45 minutes.

That's not going to happen so it will be a late night while I wait for the insulin to absorb.2 hours at the minimum UGH! In my 30 years of being diabetic this is the first time I have ever done this.

Asking for suggestions for this wool yarn I found.

I found, after mom passed, balls/skeins of wool yarn that was from my dad's sheep and spun into yarn. I know she made a vest and hat for him but they must have been lost or given away. I now live in Tallahassee, FL and the wool gets too hot to make another wearable. I am thinking of a lap blanket but am not sure of a stitch to use nor a pattern to follow.

A pic is attach so you can see what it looks like. The total weight of all the wool is 879 grams and 1 yard weights 0.9 grams. So it would seem I have about 976 yards of yarn [I know this is not accurate but without enrolling all the balls it is as close as I can get.]

I have been crocheting since I was a child and am 66 now so I have some skills. Your ideas and thoughts would be appreciated.

When I was much younger, about 57 years ago; I am 66 now, I read the book Jonathon Livingston Seagull. I was so taken with it I created this picture to needlepoint to remember the feelings I had when I read it. I did the needlepoint in the picture then it got put away without being framed. It measures roughly 8.5”x11.5” but I see that I went to the edge with the needlepoint so I have very little to attach to a blocking board when I do block it. I am currently assessing its colorfastness since it was made with wool yarn.

So, my thoughts are:

  1. Using a seam binding to enlarge the edging so I have something to pin to the blocker board.

  2. If it is colorfast, wash in cold water with a gentle detergent such as Orvus paste they use for horses and quilts. Roling it in a towle to get most of the water out then block it.

  3. Once it is dry and blocked, I will take it to a professional framer and have it framed.

Did I miss anything or is there something else I should be doing? Thanks
