Ironic that the original concept and show was originally made in England, because US TV execs failed to see it as a good idea.

Shout out to all the others out there who see a show like Reacher as pure escapism and enjoy it as a good way to spend an hour during your weekly downtime.

Ok, not a go at climate science. Trust me, I'm a believer in researched and peer reviewed facts, so this is a genuine question.

A few months ago, we were told that we were entering an El Nino weather cycle, to expect low rainfall, and warmer conditions, but now it appears we've had the wettest winter in a decade.

So, what gives? Did we not actually enter the cycle? Or are we on the edge? What should we expect, or is it harder to predict than a crows win at home?

Today I decided to do the right thing and properly dispose of my failed LED light bulbs.

I headed to my local Bunnings to find out that they no longer accept E-Waste and specifically light bulbs of any type. They will accept failed batteries and that is it.

Apparently its too much of a litigation risk, because what happens if a globe breaks and the get sued!

I was surprised as I thought they did. I found out that it is only selected stores that take E-Waste, and light bulbs are not considered E-waste.

While I do understand that there are other places that do (Mitre 10, if you can find one and Ikea), they are further out of the way.

Am I wrong in expecting that if a retailer sells crappy electronics (10 year life span of an LED my arse), that they should at least take them back when they finally fail?

Or do I just dump them in the bin?

This is where Europe have at over pretty much the rest of the world. As far as I understand, big stores must accept E-Waste, including light bulbs, free of charge.

I'd like to think we could get serious about this type of recycling. But alas, Westfarmers probably has more sway over political decisions than the collective us.

After a disastrous time with SPD cleats, I've decided to go back to flats. I've been riding with my OEM pedals for the last few weeks, and they finally failed, so its time to get something decent.

I've hit on either OneUp Composite or CrankBrothers Stamp 1. Since OneUps are easier to get locally, I'm leaning towards them.

The only question I have - the convex design. To me, it sounds like this might create pressure points on the sole of the foot.

Is anyone running them? Does anyone have this as an issue?

FWIW, I will be wearing NorthWave Escape Evo 2 shoes, with the cleat cover in place.

Edit, thanks to those who have made suggestions. I will stick with it, but look at SPD 56 multi direction cleats. Oh, and practice. Lots of practice.

I've been riding with cleats for 6 weeks, but the last 3 weekends of gravel rides, 3 falls. Each fall has been low speed, not unclipping quick enough.

I know how to unclip, that's not the problem. It's when there is a quick stop that is causing me to either fall the wrong side or just not unclip all together. And to be frank, it's becoming both frustrating and embarrassing.

At this point I'm thinking of going back to flats for a few weeks just to complete a ride without a fall and get some confidence back before I seriously hurt myself.

Interesting stuff

I've been with my wife for 29 years (26 years married) and I would say, in general, our relationship is as strong as its ever been. Sure, we have some differences and there are the occasional "cold" moments where we want to figuratively strangle each other, but in general, we get along excellently.

Sure, we are not in each back pockets all of the time, but I value the time we do have together. Friday nights "Netflix and Chill" is something I look forward to each and every week.

Compared to a friend of mine - every chance he has to get away from his wife, he's off. He's always trying to plan weekends away with the boys and gets a bit pissy when I say I can't make it.

So, how about you guys? How's it going? Still glad you chose who you chose?

I want to buy a triangle bag to supplement my current Topeak Fuel tank top tube bag, which is a touch small. Its really only good for the spares kit, maybe a snack bar, but not much else.

ROCKBROS gear keeps on popping up on my socials feeds. I know that some of their gear is a bit rubbish, but what about their bags? Does anyone use them and are reasonably happy with how they perform?

Since some of our gen are in our 60s, retirement for a lot of us is looming.

My wife and myself are 53 and on current projections, we could very much be able to retire at 60.

Apart from funds, the next big question is how do you plan to spend your days. Are you going to travel? Look after grand kids? A side hustle or volunteering? Or just spend time on the couch watching daytime soaps?

So, like normal I am over thinking things. I have a gravel bike with a Deore 10-51 cassette. The OEM chain is a KMC X12, which has been degreased and coated with Squirt. It gets a wipe every 2nd or 3rd ride and a single drip per roller (around 50 to 100KM).

I have been reading on Zero Friction about chain life and see that the KMC ti-N version rates pretty poorly compared to the Shimano M9100 chains.

Considering I am at the Consumer level, would I be better off pairing my Deore cassette with Shimano chains (considering in Australia, a KMC X12 is more expensive by anything up to double the price of a M7100)?

I am switching suppliers for the TPG empire to Amaysim, as well as upgrading from FTTN to new FTTP.

I would like to initially keep using the iiNet supplied VX420.

Is this doable? Is it difficult to configure? Has anyone done this?

Or should I be looking at a new device now?

I am looking on changing ISP's. I've been on an Internode plan since I have had FTTN connected, and with decent high speed deals and free FTTP upgrades, its finally time to ditch.

I had initially decided on the Exetel One NBN Plan (and keep it long term) but did see the current Amaysim offering (who I'd ditch after the deal expires).

Usage will be typical family usage. I game very occasionally, but nothing serious. No home servers, no requirement for a static IP, but I do WFH often, so I need something that is at least reliable.

Someone had recommended Neptune, but I looked at their offerings and it would be overkill for our usage.

So, does anyone have any opinions on the above?

Hey, I am currently on FTTN, with an ancient Internode plan. Thankfully, I can get a free FTTP upgrade.

I had a read through the documentation provided by Exetel and it states that the included distance between the external box and the internal box is 12 metres.

I've looked at where they will more than likely install the external box and where I would like the internal box and its around 18 to 20 metres (if they route properly).

Does anyone know whether they will install in my preferred spot? Any idea on how much more that might cost?

Just recently I made a purchase on eBay for the first time in years. The seller used YunExpress, which was the first time I had experienced this courier.

Apparently, the item was in Melbourne, so it didn't need to be shipped from O/S.

• It was marked as "sent" at 3:00AM on a Sunday morning (it was actually picked up and sent at 10:00 on the Monday).
• It was flagged by the system as "out for delivery" on the Monday, but when looking at the tracking, it was still in transit between Melbourne and Adelaide
• It was flagged again as "out for delivery" on Wednesday. This time, the system did say it was with the courier for delivery.
• It was not delivered on Wednesday, nor Thursday
• Late on Thursday it was flagged as "Delivery was attempted (unsuccessful) - We apologise but we were unable to deliver your parcel today. We will attempt to deliver it in the next available cycle". Interestingly, there was someone at home all day, sitting in the room closest to the front door and they didn't notice anything, except for the normal postie.

WTF and who are these guys. Seems a really poor service.
