BallotTSR Mod-Only Open Beta is here!

Over the past month or so, I have been hard at work, building this project behind the scenes. Let's dive into what it entails.

In summary, BallotTSR is a TSR-exclusive polling/election app that aims to combine the complexity of a Google Forms poll with the interactivity of a native Reddit poll, while also bringing more election security and enjoyment to polls/mod elections as a whole.

The app is not perfect in any means and bugs are likely to arise. I ask that you use it with good intention and if issues appear, DM me or any member of the mod team. Your feedback matters. I apologise for any shortcomings it may have in advance.

Only moderators will be able to post polls for now to hopefully weed out any issues.

Now to some questions you may have:

How do you plan to hold elections using this app?

I aim to carry over the old VoterID system in a way that respects our established "voter groups", though most authentication now goes through your username.

When you vote in/see a poll, your voterID is automatically created for you. No need to register, though this means you'll very probably have a different VoterID than the old google forms one. You will have a VoterID regardless of subreddit karma.

Official elections require you to have more than 30 subreddit karma to vote. This is in accordance with subreddit law.

The VoterID never leaves your account to a server someone can view. It's stored on your end.

Do I need to remember my new VoterID?

No - but please keep your old one somewhere safe in case of technical issues.

Was this approved by Glockcomm The Bay Harbor Dictator Bi Onecom The Elections Secretary?

Yes.

Does anyone else see my VoterID/the way I voted?

Only the Election Secretary does, and there's a whole system of checks to even assign that role as is. This also only applies to official elections - regular polls are completely private.

If you have any more questions, in with them!

TSR's Number One Pollster!

Out of the three polls (not counting RepFee's poll because I couldn't find the results)

Rank Pollster Sample Size Mean Absolute Error (MAE) Total Absolute Error
1 PracticalPurpose Polling🏆 18 3.18% 22.23%
2 Golden Eagle Gallup 18 3.63% 25.38%
3 Spinner Insights 35 4.62% 32.37%

These are the averaged deviations from the election's first round.

Candidate Avg Poll % Actual Election % Avg Absolute Error
wiptes167 31.74% 33.33% 1.59%
Nazibol1234 22.54% 19.05% 6.66%
FloofReborn 9.36% 14.28% 4.92%
Max_flares 11.16% 14.28% 4.71%
Disguised_VW_Beetle 9.96% 9.52% 3.08%
JackColon17 7.46% 4.76% 2.70%
ICantThinkOfAName827 7.76% 4.76% 3.00%

Polls usually got wiptes within the correct range, though the same cannot be said for Nazibol, who Spinner Insights overestimated by a total of 15%.

Props to Plant for doing a more detailed multiple choice.

u/practicalpurpose is free to set their flair to "TSR's Number One Pollster" at any time until the next election.

Stay tuned and put a poll out there next campaign season! Who knows, maybe you'll be the one to get it bang-on!

Class 6 Polling Analysis + Broad prediction

https://preview.redd.it/ti10y3nq4dgh1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=dc13fc105b417d75591b4b0d7767118d7f83b84c

With our Class 6 Mod campaign just about done, I decided to take a look at the polls we have right now(along with lots of historical context) and what they might say about the outcome of the election. Let’s dive in.

Is More Always Better?

In regards to polling, the usual answer is yes, and this holds up in TSR as well, in certain cases at the very least.

Travelling back in time 10 months takes us to the September 2025 Class 1 Mod Election, where incumbent mod Impressive_Plant won in a landslide against two challengers. That election had six polls published over the course of the whole campaign, with varying sample sizes. The top half in regards to sample size had wildly varying results, one putting Plant at slightly over 70% in the first round, while Plant’s own internal(albeit conducted earlier than declarations) had him losing by over 20% in the first round.

Date / Type Pollster Sample Size Impressive_Plant4418 HighKingFloof Disguised_VW_Beetle Others Lead
Actual Result Elecitons Secretary 33 19 (57.57%) 8 (24.24%) 6 (18.18%) Impressive_Plant +33.33%
21 September Spinner Insights 27 55.56% 29.63% 14.81% Impressive_Plant +25.93%
23 September EggPolls 24 70.83% 20.83% 8.34% Impressive_Plant +50%
14 September Impressive_Plant4418 22 31.82% 54.54% (TSP Nominee) 13.64% (Undecided) HighKingFloof +22.73%

The concurrent Class 5 Election showed a different picture, though. gunsmokexeon was the favourite to win the election, according to polls at least. They showed different levels of support but ultimately overstated smaller candidates and missed the actual first round margin from as few as 8% to as many as 34%. gunsmoke lost the election to Forsaken_Wedding by a single vote with a first round margin of Forsaken +3.03.

The most accurate poll this election was the one that collected data last.

Ever since then, polling has evolved and shifted, missing some elections and getting others more or less correct.

With this in mind, I believe the most accurate poll is the one with a right mix of the closest sample size to actual turnout and proximity to election day. Mind you, that actual turnout has been declining from the highs of some 35 votes last year to just 16 one month ago. That sometimes ends up in the poll having more responses than the election.

To answer my original question, more isn’t always better. If you want to gauge how voters feel, poll the closest amount possible to actual turnout.

What This Means for Class 6

Class 6 has four polls with public results as of now, all available here and in the spreadsheet below:

https://thespinroom.miraheze.org/wiki/July_2026_Class_6_Mod_Election#Polling

The ones with a higher sample size show Nazibol leading the race with a narrow margin against incumbent moderator wiptes, however, there’s plenty of reason to believe that it simply won’t push them over the line.

Date Pollster Sample Size wiptes167 Disguised_VW_Beetle JackColon17 Nazibol1234 ICantThinkOfAName827 Max_flares FloofReborn Lead
26 July Golden Eagle Gallup 18 33.33% 5.56% 11.11% 16.67% 11.11% 11.11% 11.11% wiptes167 +16.67
26 July Spinner Insights 35 28.57% 14.28% - shared with ICantThinkOfAName827 5.71% 34.28% 14.28% - shared with Disguised_VW_Beetle 5.71% 11.42% Nazibol1234 +5.71
26 July PracticalPurpose Polling 18 33.33% 22.22% - shared with ICantThinkOfAName827 5.56% 16.67% 22.22% - shared with Disguised_VW_Beetle 16.67% 5.56% wiptes167 +16.67
Date Pollster Sample Size wiptes167 Disguised_VW_Beetle JackColon17 Nazibol1234 ICantThinkOfAName827 Lead
25 July Spinner Insights 23 30.43% 17.39% 17.39% 34.78% 0% Nazibol1234 +4.35

The polls with lower sample sizes in this instance are probably made up of more active voters, those who have a VoterID and actually bother to vote. As I stated earlier, turnout in the last election was 16 voters. Turnout on this election’s polls is 18 at its lowest and 35 at its highest, with lower size polls giving wiptes a sizable lead in the first round(as well as Golden Eagle Gallup’s final-round of RCV estimation showing the largest potential landslide in TSR history.)

It seems voter enthusiasm is soaring to the highest highs in 6 months, and all things considered, I would estimate turnout to be around 18 votes. That means wiptes, in my opinion, is set to win the first round comfortably(+20), and potentially reach the territory of the largest percentage of votes in TSR history(>70.4%). If turnout attacks 25 or higher (unlikely to happen in my opinion), there might be a closer first round and RCV will do the rest.

Probabilities coming soon.
