If the US hates China so much why is the USPS delivering website via HongKong.

I just thought that to be odd that a government service wouldn't be delivering its own website from its own country.

I've blocked that Ip since it seems sketchy to me and now the page won't load. Oh well.

Still hitting next dns servers despite removal

My devices on one network in particular are still hitting the nextdns server despite all profiles being deleted and removed from any configurations. The router had its dns cache flushed and servers changed yet on multiple browsers dnsleak is picking up next dns. This is a problem for me because I surpassed the free tier and changed the servers to a free one with filtering until it resets.

What am I missing? it was linked to the IP however even on my router settings the vpn tunnel and router itself are not set to use any next dns server currently and as I mentioned I deleted the profiles since there is no simple unbind button.

Asus Ac 1900P 5gz disappeared after reboot

Hey folks, I was messing with adblock so my next DNS server wouldn't get so many hits on the free tier and then I rebooted because I couldn't log in.

CPU usage and ram seemed fine it was running high or full capacity. Dhcp interface wasn't working but when I changed it to static it let me in. Maybe just took a while to boot services.

Once I was able to get back in I noticed that 5gz is no longer showing or advertising. It was working fine before.

What would the issue be? Does it need a reflash?

Asus RT AC1900P Wireguard FreshTomato setup

Hello, I wanted to share my experience getting wireguard set up on this router as the protonvpn website currently only shows a freshtomato openvpn setup.

Make sure the device you are using to connect to the router does not have its own vpn on.

Follow the freshtomato setup page using the asus recovery tool.
Though before starting read through the rest below to make sure you do not get stuck like I did.

This step is down in step 4 but should be listed first to avoid any issues of a dirty flash.

-Wipe NVRAM on most current Asus models using the hardware button method:

Unplug the AC adapter from the back of the router.

Hold down the WPS button and reinsert the power connector. Continue to hold the WPS button for 30 seconds.

Release the WPS button. All front LEDs should blink once to signal NVRAM was cleared

https://wiki.freshtomato.org/doku.php/firmware_basics_procedures

-What I messed up on for hours... I did not turn off every single interface as they said. Why did this matter?? I have other interfaces for virtualbox and the vpn tunnel were interfering with the communications from my pc to the router. Thus it kept saying router not in recovery mode or not found.

After that point it was actually smooth sailing and that dopamine finally hit.

-Next steps were to follow the protonvpn guide in downloading a configuration file:

https://protonvpn.com/support/installing-protonvpn-on-a-router

Briefly: sign into your proton account and go to downloads and under wireguard select your settings and servers.

-In your tomato configuration page under vpn - > wireguard

It can save up to 3 configurations so if you'd like go back and download 2 other servers for backups or different countries for your needs. I know I have my favorite server that just works so I used that one.

check enable on start to make sure it starts whenever the router reboots.

down at the bottom you will see : Vpn type , you will want to select external vpn provider. This is crucial before you import the file. Else it will not work. Now import your file, hit save at the bottom and then when that is done you can start the service up top.

To verify it is working make sure to visit protons ip check before running a speedtest : https://protonvpn.com/what-is-my-ip-address

I suggest you do a couple speed tests on a few devices to make sure the server is consistent for your needs and is working as intended across all devices.

I hope this helps someone else down the line and saves them time.

In comparison on stock firmware using openvpn i was getting 50gb. I now get 220 which is fanastic. (we only pay for 300gb)

Thank you proton for suggesting FreshTomato on your website and the fantastic guides. While on the FreshTomato guide, although it is openvpn, there is code on there to add to enable the killswitch feature which should work here as well.

I know the formatting is not great. I am using the old reddit as I find it to be less noise and no AI.

Cheers.
