My indecisive ass lol… last is current. still very much unfinished but I’m finally at a place where I’m happy with at least how it looks anatomically. some of the other iterations might have a better “mood” to them but glaring structure issues drive me crazy! I had to redline it myself digitally to figure out exactly how it needed to change

I (Northern IL) have been desperately longing to spot an indigo bunting these past few months. Lo and behold while I’m out seeing my horse, I spotted SEVERAL!!! I was absolutely delighted. I tried for an hour to get a decent shot of one but this was the best I managed. The blue plumage is so striking in person! I easily spotted it from 100 yards away and knew immediately I wasn’t looking at a bluebird!! Like a sapphire jewel amongst all the green. It sounded like there were 3-4 in the immediate area, and I spotted at least one female.

First one is the before lol I felt like I did so much yet I barely made progress haha!! In my defense I spent most of the session trying to fix some of the lion anatomy I wasn’t happy with. Do the colors look muddy to yall?

I’m not very happy about this. Was I given the wrong tubers or did something go wrong in the growing process??

Zone 6A. I was super excited about this variety… it didn’t start sprouting until several weeks ago and made it to several inches in height before an animal got in and somehow snapped it off the tuber (second photo). I just got the first blooms on one of the other plants and the 3 others are about 2-3 ft tall at this point.

My question is… does this tuber have a chance to grow and bloom this season? Should I move it to somewhere in more constant direct sun? Any advice appreciated

Took forever but I’m becoming more confident in my oil painting abilities :)

Current status and under painting :) mixed my own pseudo burnt umber bc apparently I didn’t have any. So excited to proceed! I tried to work alla prima but my brain just doesn’t function that way so I’ll go with the usual strategy.

I need help with names! My only good ideas so far are “The Lamb’s Choice” and “Where She Stayed”…

Figured I’d actually do a small study before committing to the 36x48 canvas lol. It’s been a great test on my ability to see local colors… I’ve been mostly correct so far outside of some of the values! Can’t wait to start the real thing!

Picked her up Sunday :) After 3 years, Dottie Mae finally gets a sister. She’s been a little sulky not having all the attention now but it’ll be better once Daisy grows a bit more and I feel comfortable with them playing together.

Also: actually crate training this time and holy crap it’s a godsend. She’s doing so well!!
