Winchester Small Magnum Pistol Primers in .357 Maximum
Has anyone tried Winchester small magnum pistol primers in .357 maximum? What were your results? The powder choice would be Winchester 296 under a 158 grain bullet.

I have age-related hearing loss in higher frequency sound. I work in a normal office setting where the difficulty hearing for me was female colleagues in person and on virtual meetings. I received Phonak Audeo Infinio Ultra hearing aids about three weeks ago. The volume based on my prescription is almost too loud now. Everything is tinny and "clicky" sounding - computer keyboards, doors closing, light switches are all "clicky" and unnatural sounding. Music is now very tinny - musical keyboard sounds are distorted.
Is this a normal thing with hearing aids, or are some models better at modulating sound than others? At this point, I'm thinking seriously about returning them in favor of something else.
Does anybody know what happened to Roze Distribution?
I'd like to cast boolits for handloading .357 Maximum. Which is better, gas check or powder coat? I don't want to do both.
I have moderate high frequency hearing loss. After reviewing the options, I asked my audiologist to order Phonak Audeo Infinio I90 hearing aids. (Not the Sphere.) As I understand it, there is a setup process where the audiologist adjusts the devices for a person's specific needs. What wisdom does the community have for making this process less trial-and-error?
Is my mold not hot enough, or is my lead not hot enough?
This is an 18-cavity 00 buckshot mold. It looks like the top is melted. I didn't think that would be possible.
Is my melt too hot?
I've been casting 00 buck for about a year using an open pot heated by a propane burner. That's a pain, even with a bottom pour ladle. I recently purchased a Lee Pro 4-20 melter to do this. Today's question is about operations. What is the group's preferred way to use the melter? From what I can tell, the best way would be to run it from a seated position. From a standing position, I can't see the mold itself to know if it's full.
How do you run your Lee melter?
I am considering buying a Lee Pro 4-20 melting pot. To use it outdoors would require an extension cord. Can that be done safely with a Lee Pro melting pot?
I was implanted with an Alcon Vivity Toric EDOF lens 18 days ago. Out to about 8 feet my vision is pretty good. Beyond that, not so much. My unoperated eye is very good for distance. Without that, I couldn't drive a car.
I keep reading that i should be patient. That things get better as time passes. If true, should I notice my vision improving a little every day? That isn't happening. Do people wake up one day with better overall vision?
Mornings are the scariest time. I can hardly see anything from the operated eye for about an hour after I wake up.
Driving in the dark is actually harder now.
Bright sunlight inductees vertigo. I have a headache at the end of every workday. At random times my eye feels like there is a piece of sand in it. Then just as suddenly, that feeling goes away.
I've tried lubricating eye drops. What a mistake that was. Couldn't see anything for at least 20 minutes.
I guess I am part of the 20 percent who have a bad outcome.
I had right eye cataract surgery 12 days ago. An Alcon EDOF lens was implanted. There are no obvious complications. Right now, I have questions:
I cannot see anything clearly for at least a half hour after I wake up. Near, far or in between is all a blur. Is that a common situation, and how long before it improves?
Once my vision clears after waking up, I have pretty good vision at "reading distance" and "computer monitor distance". Anything beyond about five feet is very "soft focus". The supposed benefit of EDOF lenses is better vision across a range of distances from infinity down to about two feet. Everything I read suggests that visual acuity at distance will improve. In the real world, does that happen? Can it really take weeks or months?
Part of the reason for having cataract surgery was night driving. I was not at the point of being unsafe and wanted to keep it that way. Now, the glare from street lamps, oncoming headlights and traffic signals is worse than before having surgery on the right side. This is the one thing that I was not prepared to have happen. Does this get better over time? If so, what is a realistic timeframe?
Because of these issues, I am now hesitant to get my left eye done near term. I absolutely cannot be without the ability to drive or operate outdoor power equipment. Yes, I know glasses for distance can be bought, but why take the risk of a second surgery before fully realizing the benefits of the first one? At this point I feel like I my situation is not any better than it was before surgery.
This one made it through three reloadings. It was too mangled to seat a gas seal. I'm impressed.
I am interested in acquiring a M1 carbine. It would be a regular shooter for me, so a genuine WWII or Korea vintage isn't necessary. Adjustable rear sights are a must. How does one decide among the various makers of M1 carbines?
I already load for .380, 9x19, .357 mag, .44 mag. and .45 ACP I'm thinking about diving into reloading for 30 carbine. Please share what you've learned - what went right and what went wrong.
I was recapping a batch of 9mm and suddenly the primers were only being popped halfway out. Pulled the die and found TWO 22LR cases in it. Disassembled the die, removed the problem and resumed my project.
Say what you want about Lee gear, but for me it's the real deal.
