Confused on OPPE SCT exam for BS program's

I have recently applied for IITM BS Aeronautics and Space Technology, they released the portal for it but the qualifier courses ought to start from June 12th, and its week 0 right now. As per what i heard is that there will be 4 week course and exams would be conducted after it. Yet saw this OPPE and SCT test without proper context. I seriously didn't understand what they mean by OPPE and SCT exam and why are there week 9 though they have mentioned only 4 week. Please help me out i would like to know more about them and i am very new to this as well....

Not received my student mail ID even after completing full fee payment. After clicking forgot password and recovering account Its showing registration time over.

I have completed my full fees payment on 31st May, I have selected BS Aeronautics. I have also chosen the four courses at foundational level in my mail ID when I login today its showing the account has been disabled and you have to login to student mail ID but I have not received any mail yet. After recovering the student mail ID by forgetting password Its showing too late to register.

An Advice to Everyone doing this DEGREE and Planning abroad

  1. Treat this degree as a Side gig or Supplement
  2. It will be getting tougher and tougher through the program.
  3. If you are so serious about doing it standalone or primary, atleast take admission in local College.

Why :

Background verification happens after placement.

Visa stamping and college procedure is tough for this standalone degree.( for abroad)

So it’s a high risk game!!!

(HOT) Does IITM BS Degree allow for MS Abroad? (PART-1)

The answer is yes...Why?

1. CV Booster for Offline B.Tech Students
If you are at a local tier-2 or tier-3 college, adding the IIT Madras brand name to your resume is a massive upgrade. The skill which you learn from it is massive compared to tier 2 or 3 colleges.

2. MS Abroad Eligibility

The 4-year BS track completes the formal 16 years education required by universities in the US, Europe, and Canada.IITM offers early exits (a Foundation certificate, a Diploma, or a 3-year BSc), but only completing the 4-year track fulfills the international MS requirement for universities in the US and Canada.

3. Global Recognition

The IITM brand value is globally recognized, and alumni from similar tracks have already successfully secured master's and Ph.D. seats abroad. And Because the IIT Madras Senate officially grants the degree, it carries the same institutional weight on a resume as their traditional programs.

3. GATE & Higher Ed in India

Since the final level is a formal 4-year undergraduate degree, you are fully eligible to write the GATE exam. You can use your score to pursue an MTech or Ph.D. at top IITs, IISc, or apply for PSU recruitments. AE students can write the Aerospace GATE, DSA/DSM can write the Data Science & AI GATE, and ES students can write the Electronics GATE.
Some foreign unis even accept GATE scores:

National University of Singapore (NUS)

Consistently ranked among the absolute best globally. They accept GATE scores for M.Sc. and Ph.D. tracks under their Faculty of Engineering.

Technical University of Munich (TUM):

One of Europe’s elite technical universities. They accept GATE results to evaluate and shortlist Indian applicants for competitive Master's engineering programs, often using it to bypass standard GRE requirements*.*
TUM's official admissions portal states that graduates from an Indian Institute of Technology are completely exempt from the GATE/GRE requirement.

RWTH Aachen University

They consider valid GATE scores for specific English-taught MS Streams like Automotive Engineering, Applied Geophysics, and Software Systems Engineering.

4. High-Level Technical Skills

The curriculum focuses heavily on computational skills, mathematical modeling, and systems engineering. You learn how to apply programming and data analysis to core engineering problems, which gives you a major practical edge over standard rote-learning college tracks. (Python, MATLAB, numerical methods, C, and physical system simulation).

Now to apply for Ms Abroad, some steps must be followed. Which I will say in the upcoming post! 😄

Advice regarding BS Aeronautics and Space Technology

Hello Everyone,

I’m currently at a crossroads and would really value the perspective of y'all.

I have the opportunity of doing BTech CSE at a local government college, but my heart isn't in it. My long-term goal is the defense/aviation sector, and my dream has always been to study Aeronautics. I’m strongly considering pursuing the new BS in Aeronautics and Space Technology as a standalone degree instead of the local B.Tech.
Since the structural 'DNA' of this new program is modeled after the BS-DS (weekly assignments, trimesters, and in-person exams), I have two specific questions for you:

  1. Practical Learning: How do the professors translate core engineering/technical concepts into an online format? Specifically, for those who have done the Diploma level projects, how effective is the 'Hybrid' model for learning hands-on skills?
  2. The Aeronautics program mentions tie-ups with HAL, Boeing, and Airbus. For those of you in established BS streams, how effective has the IITM Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE) been in actually landing you internships? Are these opportunities accessible to everyone, or is it a high-stakes competition?

I’m ready for the rigor, but I want to ensure that choosing this 'dream' degree over a local CSE degree won't lock me out of the high-end job market. Any insights would be life-changing

what are your views on the new IIT-Madras BS Aeronautics degree?

for context, i am a SDE in early 20s at a known startup. always wanted to study mech/aerospace but couldn't choose it in college. since i am pretty much settled financially, want to pursue other things. is the degree good for breaking into aerospace engg? i will plan to do a masters (thro gate) if i complete the degree.

need suggestions!
