In Love With My New Tattoo

I met with my tattoo artist last week and finally got a frog tattoo. This tattoo is important for a lot of reasons. First off, it is a cover-up of a small tattoo that contained my now ex-husband's name. But more importantly, the tattoo is from a photo that I took myself. Frogs are my favorite animal, photography is one of my favorite things. And here on the Oregon Coast, the pacific chorus frog is prolific. And yes, the photo I took was of a blue one. I spot a "blue" once every couple years or so.

My First Ever Upcycle!

Okay, so I really think I am going to enjoy upcycling very much. I have been wanting to transition my closet to more one-of-a-kind pieces. Well this definitely is one! Found this old grandpa bowling shirt buried at the Goodwill today. Now I have a fresh new skirt for work, complete with the pocket!

Summer Unemployment For School Secretaries

Having been aware of Senate Bill 489 for the past couple of years, I decided to pull the trigger on filing for Summer unemployment at the urging of a coworker.

Is it just me, or do they make it AS. HARD. AS. HUMANLY. POSSIBLE. to successfully navigate their system? I have jumped through so many of their ridiculous hoops, that I have more than earned that weekly benefit by this point. I verified my ID at the local post office. About the weirdest thing I have ever had to do. But never received confirmation that it took. I also received yet another letter about "school break information needed" yet nothing in my action center to resolve this by the cut-off of (conveniently for them) tomorrow.

I drove to my local WorkSource office only for them to tell me they can literally do nothing to help me. What CAN (or do) they even do then? I called the 877 number. I had to keep dialing and re-dialing dozens of times to get through, only to now have been on hold going on an hour now. At the same time, I have also put in a request for a live chat, to which I have also been waiting for almost an hour. So whichever connects me to an actual human person first. Though I am not expecting them to be helpful in any way.

School secretaries, what else did you do to help this along?

Me and my two cats moved to our new place 7 months ago after I walked away from a miserable marriage. This is what starting over looks like. I'm alone again for the first time in over a decade. Downsizing from 1850 sq feet to 550 forced me to remember which of my possessions mean the most so I PURGED, and am remembering why I love not being surrounded by a ton of meaningless possessions. It's a rental, so I haven't done much yet/can't do anything too drastic. But it's a start. Most of my furniture and decor is yard sale/thrift store treasures. This apartment complex is a vintage 1959 sanctuary. Original wood floors and all. Please critique with love.

I was digging through some old childhood things when I stumbled across this still working San Francisco Musicbox. It was a gift to me from my grandparents in the early 90s when I was little. It comes from the San Francisco Music Box Company. The tune is "When You Wish Upon a Star".

I guess I'm wondering what a vintage Musicbox like this might sell for? Of course it would be cleaned up. It's a little dusty. I can't locate anything online about this specific one.
