The first KISS compilation release!

Found a 1974 Warner Bros. Records compilation called Hard Goods at my local recycling center swap shed. It includes the newly released song Strutter!

When Neil Bogart launched Casablanca Records in 1973, they did not have their own distribution network and struck a deal with Warner Bros. to handle it. That relationship gave Warner Bros. access to early Casablanca material for releases like this one before Casablanca eventually went independent. Warner Bros. Records can be seen on the cover & label of early pressings of the debut KISS album.

While I had a slight memory of the release I had no idea what I was looking at until I saw the track on Side 3.

It’s cool to think how the guys must have felt to see their song on a release like this back in the day.

Spinning Jackson Browne’s 1972 debut…join in?

That’s my copy of Jackson Browne’s self-titled first album, the one many call Saturate Before Using because of the water-bag graphic, even though that was never the actual title. As some may know: Browne had a canvas water bag with that phrase printed on it, mentioned it as a cover idea to designer Gary Burden, and both fans and his own record label ended up thinking it was the album’s name.

Came out January 1972 on Asylum. He was only 23 but already a seasoned songwriter for others by then, and it shows. It doesn’t sound like a debut at all. “Doctor, My Eyes” hit charts that spring; “Song for Adam” is the quiet gut-punch of the record for me.

Spinning a first-year US pressing today. Anyone want to throw this on too…vinyl, streaming, whatever works? Curious what stands out to people hearing it again.

I’m Alive

My vinyl collection of Jackson’s albums had one gap until today.

Based in the US this never shows up in the local shops so whenever traveling overseas this was on the list but even then, it’s not an easy find.

Then my sweetie found one online for what she described as ‘a reasonable price’.

It sounds absolutely great.

Do you own a copy?

Vendors: One Off Events

There are two fall fest events coming up in my area.

Both have food related vendors along with lots of other things.

Attendance at past events have been over 600 at one 6000 at the other.

Do you have any experience at events like this and if so, how did you estimate how much to bring??

Isn’t It Too Early?

These plastic big box store lawn decorations are not what I think of as blow molds but isn’t it too early for Halloween decorations?

Union Product Santa Age

Are you able to tell the age of this Santa blow mold?

Obviously someone hand wrote 9/81 but that’s not official.

The cord appears older but maybe it is ‘80s.

The Old Farm Stand Model: Does It Work for Microgreens?

Farm stands are a longtime staple in small town communities with vegetables, sourdough, canned goods, all on the honor system. Simple, local, and charming.

Has anyone here tried this model with microgreens?

New Original Pyrex Primary Colors Mixing Bowls

Came across a listing on FB Marketplace for a new old stock set. (If I didn’t have a family passed down set I’d have bought it and posted the score!)

I know many of us love seeing the old stickers and inserts and the sticker isn’t much but had to share. Not sure if the cardboard was original but the sticker is pretty cool.

Grail Obtained

The refrigerator set has been my favorite since first discovering vintage Pyrex.

This set was listed on eBay last week with a buy now price I couldn’t resist.

The seller indicated it had never been used and, based on the condition, I believe they are correct. The pieces are more beautiful in person than I expected.

As luck would have it the original paper insert was included which is really cool because it shows how Pyrex saw the set back when it was first released.

What’s your Pyrex grail and have you been able to get it?

Pristine Condition

The seller (FB Marketplace) said these were stored on a top shelf and the family doesn’t think they were ever used.

Who wants to fill the large one with popcorn and join me for a movie?

An Ace on Vinyl Collection

Obviously Ace put out more albums but this is the era where I was a dedicated Rock Soldier.

While I had it all back in the day it's taken a while to rebuild the collection but just yesterday Trouble Walkin' arrived so collection is complete!

Which is your favorite Ace album?
