[05/20/1927] Chuck Flies Non-stop Across the Atlantic

Good news everyone! Charles Lindburgh has flown from New York to Paris nonstop. It only took him 33 1⁄2 hours. Imagine a future where you do not spend a week on an ocean liner, you just get on an aeroplane and fly to Europe and in under two days, you are walking the streets of Paris!

Seahawk Opponent Schedule Reveal Videos

As previously posted, the Seattle Seahawks released their 2026 Schedule Reveal video and it is hilarious. But what about the opponents? they have videos as well and some of them are really good. If there's a common theme, it's lambasting the 49ers electrical substation debacle.

I am listing opponent videos by week, If it's rival we play twice, it's obviously the same video. Since there's some and smack talking in the videos, I chose my own name for the teams.

  1. Thanks for the Trophy! (Patriots)
  2. @ Road Runners (Cardinals)
  3. @ The Other Washington
  4. Broken Charger
  5. Electrical Substation Fire (49ers)
  6. @ Payton & His Daughter Make a Commercial (Broncos)
  7. QVChiefs Shopping Network (Chiefs)
  8. Shhh! We're Hibernating (Bears)
  9. Another Angry Bird (Cardials)
  10. @ Lost Wages Expensive Hotel Rooms (Raiders)
  11. Buh BYE
  12. @ Lumen Field South (49ers)
  13. Jerry's Folly: The Cowgirls (Cowgirls)
  14. Bite the Big Apple - Don't mind the maggots (Giants)
  15. @ Yet Another Angry Birb (Eagles)
  16. Always Have a Good Side Dish (Rams)
  17. @ Carolina Kitty Cats (Panthers)
  18. @ Beverly Hillbillies (Rams)

Some other notable videos are from the Simpsons-inspired Indianapolis Colts and a Baywatch parody from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Watch them now before the mods delete this post as well for somehow not being Seahawks related.

[05/12/1846] We are headed west!

Dearest Caroline,

After months of delays, the Donner–Reed Party is headed for California. We shall follow the Oregon Trail, since it is considered safe for wagon travel. There will be nine wagons containing 32 mostly hardy folk. We hope to team up with others along the way. George Donner, the leader is confident that if we can manage the Wasatch Mountains, the Great Salt Lake Desert, we will make our destination. He's not sure about crossing the Sierra mountains, but we will be crossing through the Fremont Pass, which has lakes and rivers. So long as we can fish, we know we will not starve. This could be the last you hear from me, since mail service is spotty along the route. Forever yours, Stanton.

That wasn't fireworks

There was a powerful explosion at 9:46 followed by a smaller one at 9:47 in North Oakland / Emeryville.

Bad Bunny was the target of most of the 2,000 Super Bowl 60 complaints

There was not one comment was in regards of the NFL showing a savage beating of the Patriots. Most people complained about Bad Bunny and his show. If I remember correctly, it featured ideas like love, family, community. As an example, there was a real wedding during the Halftime show.

[05/08/1886] John Pemberton introduces his new wine tonic

"Asa, you have to try this. I mixed cocaine and kola nuts into a wine. I think this is the taste Atlanta has been waiting for. I shall call this, Pemberton's French Wine Coca nerve tonic."

'John, that name is too long and we can't sell a product in Atlanta with wine in it.'

"Ok, we remove the wine and add carbonated water. Right now everyone thinks that is healthy. But we're keeping the sugar, kola nuts and cocaine."

'I agree, we need the cocaine. But we need a name we can use that contains cocaine, but we can't trademark the word cocaine. How about "Yum Yum" or "Koke"?'

*thinks for a moment* "Asa, see if Coca-Cola works."

*looks up trademarks* 'Winner winner, chicken dinner!'

'Let's try selling it at Jacob's Pharmacy. They have a whole counter for carbonated medicines. Let's see if it sells.'

We better telegraph our travel agent. I don't think the Hindenburg is going to make our connecting flight in Frankfurt on time.

I told you we should have booked on the Queen Mary. But no, you insisted you get sea-sick, so we had to fly the Zeppelin.

"Guys are you really sure this is safe?"

'What's the problem now, Alan? We've gone over this. The best minds in rocketry designed this ship. The chimp came back just fine, you'll come back just fine.'

"Yeah, but they spent months repairing things and problems are still creeping up. I can't shake the fact that this rocket was built by the lowest bidder. Oh, and I have to pee."

'No time to pee, you should have thought about that before you got in the rocket. You can't chicken out now, America is watching.'

"Alright, good point, it will either work or not. Let's light this candle."

Hey everyone,

I added a new calendar event. Tim Berners-Lee is going to demonstrate his new "universal linked information system". For those of you that missed the proposal, it is a new way to eliminate the organizational tree in UNIX and instead adopt the "hypertext" model proposed by Ted Nelson.

With Tim's approach, documents can be linked in unconstrained ways through hyperlinks associated with "hot spots" embedded in the text. This new system will utilize the Hypertext Transfer Protocol that Tim has been working on in addition to his new viewing tool. That tool, WorldWideWeb, will be demonstrated. Part of it's appeal is that unlike the current Gopher server, CERN plans to make this protocol open source in hopes somebody might find a niche use and adopt it.

Join us in the cafeteria for cake and coffee following the demonstration.

BART Police like to think they have a sense of humor. Or at least the recruiting arm.

I was not at a recruiting event, I am not interested in becoming a BART cop. I was in fact sitting in a bar when I received these.

If I ever have to detain a leprechaun, now I have the handcuffs for the job.

Comrade,

We had a slight oopsie during a safety test at the V. I. Lenin Power Plant. I have been told a fire broke out after a routine buildup of hydrogen ignited, causing a minor release in radiation. I have been assured the leak amount is 3.6 roentgen—not great, not terrible, but far below the emergency safety threshold of 25 roentgen. If you have Iodine pills, it would be wise to take a daily dose, as recommended for the next few days. Better to be safe than sorry.

There is no way a man can cause a serious accident with an RBMK reactor. We feel this could be Western sabotage to place the Soviet Union in a bad light. A cleanup is underway and the fire has been extinguished. The people in the area are fine, some are celebrating a wedding, others are gardening, and others are fishing in the Pripyat River.

A commission will be formed with Comrade Boris Shcherbina leading the investigation. If this was sabotage, he will get to the bottom of it. I do not expect you will hear any more details because the Council of Ministers would like to keep this quiet to stave off any unnecessary widespread panic.
