Best way to get miles??

Hi all,

Had Emirates NBd Skywards infinite card for three years… average spend per year 150k… actually quite disappointed with the value and benefits which is why I cancelled 2 months ago.
I lived in several countries and had very interesting Credit cards that accumulated points insanely quickly.

2 months ago my situation also changed.. got a new job and I fly frequently but it is paid with the company card and I get the miles. What is the best for me now to increase my miles as I am not paying for the tickets anymore?

Doctor wrote things in my medical report I never said, insurance rejected my claim as "pre-existing." Has this happened to anyone else in the UAE?

Looking for advice and honestly wondering if this is more common than I think.

I saw a vascular doctor at a large private hospital group in Dubai for a vein issue in my legs. The insurance claim for an ultrasound was rejected because the medical report described a pre-existing condition. Fair enough, I thought, until I actually got the report a week later (after 12+ calls and 4 unanswered emails, and only after leaving a public review).

The report says my symptoms started on a specific date in February 2024 (later "corrected" by the doctor to 2026 as a typo) and that "conservative treatment with elastic stockings failed."

Here's the thing: I have never used elastic stockings in my life. Never mentioned the word. Never mentioned February, 2024, 2026, or any timeline at all. And I'm a native English speaker, so this isn't a language barrier or misunderstanding situation. These are full clinical statements about a treatment history that simply doesn't exist.

The kicker: my wife was at the same consultation the same day for a similar vein issue, and her ultrasound was approved instantly. So the rejection clearly comes from what was written in MY report, not the condition itself.

I've now sent a formal complaint to the hospital and I'm filing with DHA next.

Questions for anyone who's been through this:

  1. Has anyone else found fabricated or "template" treatment history in their medical report here? Is this a known trick or just sloppy copy-paste medicine?
  2. Anyone gone through the DHA complaint process for something like this? How long did it take and did the record actually get corrected?
  3. Did a wrongly recorded "pre-existing condition" follow you to your insurer, and were you able to get it removed?

Any experience appreciated. I'm mostly stunned that a licensed doctor can write a treatment history the patient never gave and it just becomes your official medical record.

Upgrades vs skywards miles

Hi all,

Been avoiding Emirates for many years.. used Qatar and Etihad for some time but now started to travel Emirates again with non stop flights.
I feel it was much easier to upgrade 6-7 years ago than today.
Credit card have become worse and with less miles earned, conversion ratio lousier etc.
What is your go to method when upgrading?? Buying skywards or just paying with cash after purchasing the economy ticket?

Best travel card??

Hi all,

I could really need some guidance.

I am traveling every 2-3 weeks and need the best credit card to take advantage of this.
Few years back I had an amazing travel card from FAB where I earned points and could transfer them to multiple airlines.

I mostly travel with Emirates, Qatar airways sometiems KLM/Air France and Turkish Airlines.

Today I have the NBD skywards infinite card but it is really bad and they just downgraded from unlimited lounge visits to 12 per year!

Any recommendations?

Hartland vs Collegiate experience?

Hello,

I am writing regarding decision between Hartland international school and Collegiate international school (umm suqeim). I know they are two different schools but I really just want the best for my daughter as she has problems with emotional regulation and I’m scared that Hartland will be too much pressure (we live walkable distance). Collegiate is 20 min drive but I feel that the American curriculum is more about the wellbeing.
Please share your thoughts 🙏🏻

RAK Elevate credit card

For the past 3 years, I have held several credit cards, mainly with FAB, Emirates NBD, and Mashreq. I have already cancelled my FAB and Mashreq cards and now intend to cancel my Emirates NBD card as well, as I prefer to manage just one primary credit card.

I am self-employed and own a company that has been operating for more than 3 years. However, I pay myself a fixed monthly salary. Both Emirates NBD and Mashreq assessed me as a salaried employee for credit card purposes despite being self-employed. FAB, on the other hand, required a security deposit, although they paid interest on it.

I am interested in the RAK Elevate credit card because it aligns better with my needs, particularly the gym benefits and travel rewards. My question is how RAKBank evaluates applications from self-employed individuals with a fixed monthly salary and an established business, and whether I would qualify without having to place a security deposit.

Any one who can make it happen?

Al Adheed Al Barsha - don’t recommend!

Very disappointing experience at the Al Aadeed center in Al Barsha Mall.

The biggest issue was not the waiting time itself, but the overall customer service. On multiple occasions, I found the staff to be unhelpful and lacking basic customer care. Communication was minimal, and it often felt difficult to obtain clear guidance or updates.

Customers should also be prepared for significant waiting times. In my experience, waiting several hours before your number appears on the screen was not unusual. If there are delays, better communication and expectation-setting would go a long way.

I understand that legal and government-related services can be busy. However, professionalism, courtesy, and efficient customer service are equally important. The front reception are the worst par.

Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend considering other Al Adheed centers if you have the option. The service quality at this branch did not meet my expectations, I was very surprised how rude they are!
Waited for 3h, still here and still not mine turn

Experience with Victory Heights Primary School City of Arabia, worth reading before enrolling!

We had our child at Victory Heights Primary COA. The teachers and classroom experience were genuinely warm and caring, no complaints there at all for the first few months. But when we expressed some concerns, they become more cold and distance.

However when we needed to go through a withdrawal process, the experience with management and administration was something I feel other parents should know about.

The process dragged on for almost three months. Emails regularly went unanswered for long periods. Different staff members gave us completely different information, and agreements made verbally were simply never followed up on. When we escalated to a formal complaint, we discovered that what the school was communicating externally was inconsistent with what they were telling us directly. That was the most disappointing part. They wanted to act fair when talking with KHDA, but completely different responses were given to us as the parents.

Throughout the entire process there was very little acknowledgement of our situation, no flexibility offered, and no sense that anyone was taking ownership of resolving things. For a school that promotes strong values around care and community, the reality when things get difficult did not match that image.

If you ever find yourself in a situation where you need understanding, flexibility or basic organisation from the people running the school, be prepared for a very different experience. We talked with parents from other schools, we went for school tours etc and completely different experience. The biggest issue at this school was the top management.

Happy to answer questions in the comments if anyone is considering this school.
